Luke, Manny and their dates

Today I helped Haley and Alex to babysit Luke, Manny, and Lily. It wasn't a hard job. The reason I helped them was that Phil, Claire, Cam, Mitchell, Jay, and Gloria all went to Palm Springs.

Jay invited them over for New Year's Day.

I didn't mind helping Alex and Haley as Haley and I would surely be able to spend a lovely night together.

While thinking about it I was standing at the door of the Dunphy's house.

"Hi, Lily. What are you doing here?", I asked the little girl standing in front of the door curiously.

"I can't reach the doorbell and Alex and Haley didn't notice my knocks yet", little Lily said in a somewhat depressed voice.

I rang the doorbell and soon Alex and Haley opened the door.

"Hi, Lily. Did Ethan take you with him?", Alex asked Lily.

"No. You guys just forgot about me", Lily said. 

Haley and Alex looked at each other, obviously having really forgotten about Lily.

"Anyway. Come in guys", Alex said while stepping aside.

I gave Haley a quick kiss and we all went into the living room.

"Whats up Luke, Manny", I greeted the two young men.

Luke in his casual clothes and Manny in a suit.

"Why dressed so formally?", I asked Manny curiously.

"He said that Sylvester is a formal event that needed formal clothes", Luke said in a mocking voice making fun of Manny.

"One day you will understand the things I do", Manny said trying to sound wise and trying to ignore Luke's mocking.

Suddenly the doorbell rang.

"Our dates have arrived", Luke said excitedly jumping up from the bed.

"What dates?" x4, Haley, Alex, Manny and I all asked at the same time.

"I organized a date for Manny and me", Luke said proudly.

While we all were still stunned Luke already opened the door and greeted two young women standing behind it.

Luke didn't hesitate long and introduced a red-haired girl to Manny and took his date up to his room.

"Isn't Luke too young for a date?", Haley asked shocked.

"We already had our first date at his age", I said a little speechlessly.

"No. Is it okay for Luke to be alone in his room with a girl when we should babysit him?", Haley asked concernedly.

"I don't know", Alex said not knowing the answer.

"It is ok. You should only care for his safety. Not what he is doing", I said to Haley trying to calm her down a little.

"Really?", Haley asked me looking into my eyes.

I thought for a moment and nodded.

"Let's watch a movie", I suggested.

The other two agreed and we started to watch a movie.

It was all pretty relaxing until suddenly Manny came into the living room.

"Ethan. I need to talk with you about something"

I nodded and followed him. We went into another part of the house and we started talking.

"What's wrong Manny? Is the date not going well?", I asked Manny wanting to help him as soon as possible. The plot of the movie was currently at a pretty interesting point.

"It isn't going well. She is acting cold and only asks questions about you. I think she is in love with you", Manny said his concerns.

"You don't need to worry about that. She is 14 or something. As for the cold acting. Manny. You're a real gentleman. I believe you have the ability to melt the cold and let the sun shine", I said to Manny patting him on his shoulders.

"Thanks, Ethan", Manny thanked me. His eyes were full of gratitude.

After that, I went back to Haley and Alex and continued watching the movie.

When the movie ended we started watching the New Year's countdown on Live TV.

But Haley and Alex started to act really weird. Both going to the toilet often. I didn't care, but when they did it more often I started to turn on my brain. 

It wasn't hard to realize that they had probably been spying on their brother. 

I didn't care as I knew that they cared deeply about their brother.

Until Alex went to the toilet and Haley suddenly started to go too.

I was a little speechless and followed Haley.

As I predicted they were both staring through the keyhole into Luke's room.

"What are you guys doing", I asked them a rhetorical question.

"Nothing", Haley almost screamed. It seems that I scared her a little.

"If you just look at him and don't talk then you guys will just waste your time", I said to them.

"Then what should we do?", Alex asked while doing an eye roll.

"Just talk with him"

After that, I knocked on the door.

Luke opened the door soon after with a little embarrassment.

"What's wrong Ethan? I am busy", he said trying to act like a real man.

"I know Luke. Just remember don't act too much with her. If you do that you will scare her. You know. If I didn't advance my relationship with Haley as slowly as I did when we started dating we wouldn't be together now", I said trying to convince him that he should take it slow. I wanted to continue watching TV.

"Really?", Luke wanted to have confirmation. 

"Really", I nodded and confirmed his question.

"Thanks, Ethan", Luke thanked me and hugged me a little.

After Luke went back into his room Haley and Alex walked out of the bathroom. They hid in there after I started knocking.

"Solved?", I asked them.

They nodded and after that, we continued watching TV. The rest of the time went by smoothly and we celebrated New Year all together. Haley and I spice it up a little with alcohol.

At about 1 a.m. when the ladies who visited us already went home and the rest slept Haley and I also started sleeping.

The day after we babysit them until the afternoon when the rest of the family came back from Palm Springs.
