Shinigami are real!?

Trying to relax, I tried to ignore the other ghosts in the bath. But Mayu was still not finished with her lectures. "Now, once you get a job you need to know how to count and convert them. We have different types of money here, we have Spirit Chips, Coins, Bars and Crystal. For example, the Spirit Chips that we mentioned can be compared to Bronze coins back in the days. So, 1000 pcs of Spirit Chips can be exchanged for 1 Spirit Coins, Spirit Coins is like Silver while Spirit Bars are like Gold and Spirit Crystals are like Platinum… Do you get what I'm talking about? So you need to be more careful when getting paid or making payments." She finished.

I feel like I'm getting a migraine with all the new information being provided to me. And how would I know what the money here looks like, I've only seen the Spirit Chips and for the rest, I have no idea what they look like? Do they even have counterfeit money here?

"Also, if you're going to work, you must be careful to not make any trouble or you might get in trouble with a Shinigami! If you have a bad reputation or were sentenced with a crime they will be the ones to make sure you are punished so beware and steer clear of their way!" She added a warning.

"Shinigami? They are real?!" I couldn't help but ask. The only thing that I know about them is what I watch in Bl**ch and De*****te, and I'm not sure if they are accurate or not.

"Oh, they are and they can be quite scary! They have this big Scythe that could slash your soul into pieces and scatter them and you'll never have a chance for reincarnation once they use their powers on you! They are as ugly as hell and wrinkly old!" Mayu shudders as if remembering something.

So they may be on the ugly side, I thought I might be able to see some God-like beauty on this side but I guess not. I'll just concentrate on harnessing energy in my body so that I can do all those cool ghost stuff!

After we soak on the water for almost 4 hours dinner was already being served and we looked for Hiro since we didn't see him in the room. We walked towards the common dining area and saw him at the corner chatting happily with the girl working in the Inn. And from the looks of it, they are hitting it off pretty well.

While looking at them 'mildly' flirting, I could sense that Mayu is leaking out her deathly aura again and I could only pray for the girl to survive Mayu's wrath. And as expected Mayu, she was already gone from my side and she is now standing next to Hiro and facing the girl flirting with him.

Mayu released her mist-like powers and tried to envelop the girl, but the weird thing is Mayu's mist can't get near her like she has a shield protecting her. My eyes widen when I stared intently at the girl. She has something shiny on her wrist and every time Mayu uses her mist on her it shines and reflects her mist!

Woah! What amazing power is that!? I couldn't help but be amazed by that mystic power. I can see that Mayu is getting infuriated that she can't strike the girl with her mist. She eventually stopped her attempts to attack the girl.

All she can do now is glare at the girl and hover protectively at Hiro's side. I carefully came closer to Mayu and tried to avoid being the next target of her fury since she can't hurt the human girl.

"Um, Mayu? You okay there?" I asked her.

"Do I look like I'm 'OKAY' to you?! This girl is seducing Hiro and I can't do anything because she is using a charm and you ask me if I'm OKAY?! NO, I'm not! I just want to claw her stupid face and make sure she is disfigured before I ruin her body and leave her with ugly scars all over her! Let's see if she even dared to show up in front of my Hiro!" She hollered at me, then she looked at the girl and was now mumbling to herself.

I could hear some bits and pieces about what she is mumbling about and I shudder to think what the fate of that girl is if she ever makes a mistake of taking off her charm protecting her.

Then Hiro stood up and walked outside after eating his dinner. He went straight to his room and lay down there and watched TV. I silently sat at the corner and focused my attention on the TV since Mayu is still fuming at what happened at dinner.

I was sitting by the window looking at the beautiful crescent moon outside when I saw Hiro turn off the TV and stood up. I looked at Mayu and she looked dumbfounded as to why Hiro is going outside when it's already in the middle of the night.

Mayu quickly followed Hiro and since I don't care what Hiro does I just stayed in the room and just look at the moon. Looking at the moon, it reminded me of something. I remember in those Chinese Novels that I read that there is also an energy that can be harnessed from the moonlight.

I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate if I feel that warm sensation that I felt when I was in the bath. I changed my position and tried to copy the meditating position that I usually see in the movies or TV. I even sat, well floated, on the window so that I can be under the moonlight.

Once I made sure that my position looks alright I closed my eyes again and tried to concentrate. I tried to empty my mind, which is hard since my mind always wanders. After trying for I don't know how long, I started to feel this warm sensation. It may not be that strong unlike in the bath but it's still there!

I was so excited that I tried to see if I can absorb as much as I can! I tried to copy what I read that I should imagine that the energy is going inside my body and the energy being absorbed. The shocking thing is… It worked!

I was just going with the flow but didn't realize that it will really work! I intended to keep at it until I feel that I'm full when suddenly the door opened. I lost my concentration and looked at the doorway. I saw Hiro humming to himself and looked so pleased with something. I looked behind him but I didn't see Mayu anywhere, which is weird. She always follows Hiro everywhere but now she hasn't come back, she must've seen some lesser ghosts and tried to exto- Ahem. I mean borrow some money from them.

I ignored that and closed my eyes again to try to gather as much energy that I can. I stopped after a couple of hours since I can feel I was so full that I'm going to burst. I noticed the slightly opened cabinet where they store the futons.

I entered the cabinet and sat there looking around. It was pretty roomy and cozy that I can just lay there and sleep. Having that idea I lay inside the cabinet and started to feel drowsy.

After absorbing so much energy I was so sleepy that I ignored Mayu that just came in with that creepy crooked smile of hers and lay down on top of Hiro doing whatever it is that she is doing. Too lazy to even think, I closed my eyes and fell into a deep slumber.
