Reflect

The exam ended and Ryu parted away from the yellow-haired guy. He took out his headphones and started listening to an album by the Smiths.

As he was walking beside the street, he felt someone pulling his backpack. So naturally, he turned around and looked at the person.

Familiar energy.

It was Toru, the one who borrowed his pen.

" Oh hi. " Ryu greeted the floating clothes.

" Here. Thanks. " She gave the pen. Ryu grabbed the pen softly.

" No need for that. How is the exam for you? "

She walked beside him and started talking about her experience. She gave off an outgoing person so Ryu was a bit relief. Right now, he didn't want to talk.

" So are you heading home? " She asked.

Ryu shook his head. " I saw a nice cafe right here online. I want to check the sweet cake. Wanna tag along? "

Toru gasped in surprise.

" What? "

" I thought you were a cool, mysterious type, you know. "

Ryu narrowed his eyes and sighed. " I always got that. People say I am a bit unemotional. I remember girls were afraid of me back in elementary school. Because I touch the wild frog. "

" So you are a brave kid? Heh heh. "

Ryu laughed. " No. I am afraid of spiders. They are my nightmare. "

" Me too. "

Ryu grabbed his head and sighed.

The invisible girl looked up and said in a concerned tone. " Are you hurt? "

" No. It is just the side effect of my Quirk. "

They arrived at the cafe under the lead of Ryu. Ryu ordered two chocolate cakes, one iced cake and fruit juice. Since the cafe shop was fairly new, there was a lot of free space.

They choose the place with the most comfortable chair.

Ryu bit the chocolate cake and smiled in satisfaction. The tapping inside his head also got lower as well due to the intake of sugar in his body.

" Much better. " Ryu said. " And the cake is good. "

" Yeah. You found a gem." Toru said. " So what is your Quirk?"

Ryu explained his Quirk in detail. He didn't hide anything since his goal was to be the top hero.

" That is a powerful Quirk. You will be useful on a battlefield. " Toru exclaimed.

" It is quite versatile but I have no attack power. I can't always drop villains from the sky. They would die. "

Toru nodded. " True. Ture. But you can punch the villains. "

Ryu smiled. " I am training a new technique. "

" Wow. You are awesome. I can't change my Quirk so I am training my body to be strong as steel. "

Ryu looked at the invisible girl and asked. " I see your energy so I think you can control your Quirk. Can't you sense the energy inside your body? "

" I never try to do that. "

" You should try sensing the energy inside you. It could be the key to your Quirk. I remember sensing my spatial energy when I awakened my Quirk. I couldn't do anything with my energy so my parents thought I was lying. Only after controlling the energy did they believe that I awakened my Quirk. "

Toru nodddd. " I will try my best. "

The two parted away after eating the cakes. They exchanged the numbers because Toru wanted to ask something about the energy Ryu spoke of.

Ryu arrived at his house at noon.

His mother asked about the exam and he answered honestly.

" I am heading upstairs. Call me when you need my help. " Ryu said and went into his room.

Inside he tried to get familiar with his Quirk and restricted the range to 500 meters.

I can maintain this state for 5 hours but this is not enough. Because on the battlefield, everything is changing at a rapid rate. My brain needs to adapt to the change.

Right now, the only problem I have is my brain. As for my spatial energy, it will take a long time before running out completely. And with my current physique, I can produce the energy 2 hours straight without hurting my stomach.

Ryu sat in a lotus position and calmed his mind. He absorbed himself in the energy field he created. During the meditation, his worldview was changed. The change was addicting.

Ryu licked his lips and got up from the floor. He opened the drawer and took out a bottle. A few pills came out and he swallowed the pills without water.

His trembling hands calmed down and he remained calm after that.

And I need to work on my addiction. I must tell my parents but it is too hard.

Ryu sat on the bed. During the Quirk manifesting, he couldn't keep up with the information overload so he always got the headache. Because of that, the doctor gave him painkillers. After taking the pills for a long time, he became addicted to it.

The addiction was getting cut off since he didn't need the painkiller anymore. But it was hard.

Ryu continued improving his Quirk during the one week. After the week passed, the letter from UA came.

And without surprise, he passed with flying colours.
