The changes after the attribute modification were drastic. Laurent knelt on the ground before Alex and declared, "Master."
Alex wasn't into weird hobbies, so he was left with goosebumps all over his body.
"Don't use that title anymore. From now on, you will address me as Chief Fury."
This was part of the plan. Alex would use Laurent as a pawn against Fury, specifically the real shield. Poor Fury would be in for a tough time, but at least he would get a heads-up about Hydra.
"Chief Ferry," Laurent said, standing at attention.
"It's not ferry, it's FURRY," Alex corrected him.
If Laurent had said this to Nick Fury's face, he would have likely lost most of his teeth.
"Okay, Chief Furry," Laurent corrected himself.
"Good," Alex approved.
Laurent got it right this time.
"What's your relationship with Hydra? How did you become their subordinate?" Alex asked.
Laurent spilled everything without resistance. It turns out that he had been a member of Hydra from the very beginning. It was because of his membership in Hydra that he had been able to rise through the ranks.
Hydra was apparently more tenacious than the system's description had led Alex to believe. They were involved in almost everything in the Marvel world.
Laurent told Alex everything he knew about Hydra. As a small subordinate, he didn't have any valuable information.
Alex had thought Laurent had some level of power when he saw the red attribute. But it seemed that wasn't the case. Still, Laurent could play an important role in Alex's plan for France, so exchanging a red crystal for him wasn't a loss.
"Tell me everything you know about the gang that traffics people and drugs, and give me all the details of the deals you've made since they arrived in Paris," Alex said slowly.
Laurent was still being recorded by the camera with the red light blinking. His answer would soon be the final piece of the puzzle for Alex... and a reminder for Laurent.
But Laurent didn't seem to realize this. In other words, he would only obey Alex's orders. Even if Alex asked him to shoot a gun and commit suicide, he wouldn't hesitate.
If the attributes were changed properly, they became a terrifying weapon. It was a thorough modification of a person's core, irresistible... for now.
Alex was looking forward to the future. What if he changed Tony Stark into a prodigy of magic? Seeing an Iron Man who used magic and technology would be entertaining.
If he did that, the future knowledge he had would become useless. So he would wait until he was powerful enough to hold his own against anyone.
The most important thing, of course, was to get more crystals. The attributes of characters like Tony Stark or Thanos would be quite high. Even gold or diamond crystals were a possibility.
The thing is, Alex didn't know what levels were above red, so he could only speculate. In any case, the more crystals he had, the better.
Thinking about this, Alex glanced at the mission section of the system.
Ever since he met Brian Mills, the [Mission: Brian Mills] had been highlighted in bright blue. As always, no description of the task was given. He would have to figure it out himself.
Every time Alex thought about it, he felt a bit lost. The system had never responded except when binding to him and mentioning Hydra's name. Alex thought it was a flawed system with no interactive capabilities.
As Alex's thoughts wandered, Laurent finished explaining everything he knew about the gang and the cooperation process in great detail.
Thanks to his attribute [Red - Trouble Magnet], Alex received a message from Brian at just the right time.
The content of the message is quite precise and crisp.

Alex issued follow-up orders to Laurent, which included
1. Don't reveal Alex's existence.
2. act like yourself.
3. .....
4. ...
Faking his name as Director Fury is to dig a hole for Hydra and shield. And letting Laurent pretend that nothing happened is for the upcoming fun...
Alex couldn't wait any longer. So after giving Laurent a few orders, he went straight to Paradise Street.

[No. 10 Paradise Street]
"Have all the videos been recorded?" Alex asked Brian, the team's tech expert.
"The entire interrogation from beginning to end is on this tape," Brian replied, tossing a cassette to Alex.
As for the fate of the gangsters, they were probably dead by now. When someone kidnaps a man's daughter, he will do anything to find her.
"Why do you think a group of human traffickers chose to establish a stronghold in a place called 'Paradise'?" Brian asked with a hint of disgust.
"Probably because they think they'll go to heaven when they die," Alex replied with a wicked smile.
Brian shuddered but he managed to say.
"They'll go to hell."
Alex nodded in agreement. "Then I assume you can't wait until nightfall to take them down?"
"Infiltrate, find, and kill at the earliest opportunity," Brian said gravely.
Brian handed Alex a photo of a beautiful girl with an innocent smile. It was Kimberly, his daughter.
Alex was entranced by the photo. He had seen the movie, but Brian's daughter was even more beautiful and innocent in real life.
Unknown to Alex, something had taken root in his heart. Even if he had recognized it, he wouldn't have known how to label it – it was a new emotion, one that Alex had never experienced in his previous life.
"This is my daughter, Kimberly Mills," Brian said, breaking the spell.
Hearing Brian's voice, Alex snapped out of his reverie.
"We have to get to her in time," Brian added, his voice thick with emotion.
Alex placed a hand on Brian's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. "We will, Brian. We will."
"I have intel that the gang leader, Leo Maxwell, will be here today. If we can catch him, we can extract the information we need to find Kimberly. As for the rest of those scumbags..." Brian trailed off, raising his gun.
Alex knew that the rest of the traffickers were as good as dead. The thought made him grin even wider. Brian couldn't help but feel creeped out by Alex's positive attitude towards killing. Is he alright in the head? Brian wondered to himself.
But then, Alex's "Good Guy" attribute started flashing in Brian's mind, reminding him that Alex only kills human traffickers and that they deserve to die. Brian couldn't help but think, "Alex may have a strange way of showing it, but he's a good boy at heart."
