The school tournament was nearing and the academy ground was mostly empty as almost all the students focused on improving themselves to participate in the competition. Even though a freshman had never won the competition even once in the entire history of the school, that didn't stop them from entering the contest.
Most of the third year students were almost eighteen so it was usually them who won the tournament, with a few exceptions of a second year winning once or twice. As most students were excited about the upcoming competition, Lin Hamill was still perfecting the memory altering process. He was practicing a lot in order to make sure that there would not be any sort of setbacks. Two weeks had passed since his first attempt but he still had to obtain more successful results.
After repeating the tests for a few more times, Lin had been satisfied with his work.
He then went to look for the three Professors of his courses in their different buildings in order to ask for more leaves. The classes for the courses he was taking were just basic business details, stuff he had already learned with the help of the system and his perfect memory. Of course, the teachers weren't happy with a student skipping their classes, but the Hamill Family had been paying them quietly behind the scenes, which made the process a whole lot easier. They just had to put up an act.
Lin wanted to use the time he received to enhance his skills and improve his level. He wanted to level up to ten before taking care of the Lindon family, and although the speed of his improvement had decreased a lot when compared to his sudden improvements from level one to six and six to eight, it was still miles better when compared to the pace of other students.
He remembered the information on the participants the system had given him. There were many high level contestants above the level of ten, and the participant with the highest level was Christian Ivan Andric, a Yugoslav-Korean student in his third year with a level of eighteen, ten levels higher than Lin.
'I definitely need to find a way to win against such monsters. But how can I beat an opponent who is almost ten levels higher than me?'
Lin trained while thinking about his plans to win the tournament as well as defeating those with a higher level than him. He made up his mind that the best way is to use his information hint during combat. Even if they might be stronger than him, that didn't mean they were invincible against him. He would try to find whatever he could do to win against them. And if he couldn't find a way, then he would escape from their hands until he could find a way.

The A - Class.
Day before the tournament.
"Attention all students!"
A shout made all the students in Class A stand up. It had been the voice of the most feared teacher in the whole academy, Mr. Tyrone Wells, a former guild general and a martial arts instructor in the academy. He was the coordinator for the current year's school tournament and it appeared, from the pamphlet he was holding, that he was in the class to inform about the event, although it's literally happening the next day.
"Have you kids applied for the tournament yet? There is still time as the application centre is open till the end of the day, so if any of you pus- I mean children who are hesitating to enter, I hope you all shall take part in the tournament instead of fuc- I mean hanging around. So everyone better participate even if you don't think you win, got that you magg- I mean children?"
'What was up with those half censored swears? Has he really been in the academy for more than four years?'
While Lin was quite amused by the actions of Tyrone, the other students didn't even look at his eyes. To the students, Tyrone had been known as 'The Spear', a nickname given to him by his enemies for the insane amount of people he pierced through with his spear. His bloody images were circled through various internet articles, making his name infamous to the public. And yet here he was, telling a bunch of high schoolers to participate in a school competition and having trouble with it.
After giving the speech, Tyrone quickly left the room, making the students calm down and resort back to their usual chattering in a short while.
Lin had already applied, but there were still some students who were hesitating on joining. They were looking for other students who were thinking of joining, so that they could all join together. Lin looked at the hesitating students and sighed. These kinds of people always lose whatever they try. If you yourself do not have the drive to do what's necessary, then there isn't any point in continuing.
School had ended earlier than usual due to the massive event taking place tomorrow, as well as giving time for the last minute attendees to join. Lin quickly went back to his apartment, getting back into training his body.
Lin trained relentlessly, testing his limits with both of his powers, as well as his speed, endurance and reflexes. He had the sponsorship from Lindon Family, but that sponsorship also reminded him of the threat he faced from them.
It took him until midnight to finally stop the training, as he suddenly felt lighter and quicker. When he realised what was going on, he couldn't help but smile. Lin had finally reached level nine.
