Ch-3 Making the Monster Part 2

When Leo hears her scream he snaps out of it and looks at Carol's burnt arm in horror not believing that he did this to her.

Carol looks at the horrified and scared Leo with surprise that is his powers are unleashing.

In a shaking voice, Leo asks himself, "What have I done?"

<Inside the cabin>

Leo is applying ointment on Carol's burnt hand while feeling guilty that he let his emotion get better of him, yet the feeling of the power that made him unstoppable and desires to destroy gave him pleasure.

Leo wants to feel that power again, that will make him invincible and free from every shackle that is holding him down, and yet he is also scared that he will not be himself if he uses that power again. He fears that if gives in to the lust for power he will lose his own identity.

Carol can see through Leo thoughts and said, "Leo, I know that you are feeling like you are not yourself and it's scared you that you are losing yourself because I'm been there, Leo your power is yours, it part of you and I will train you to how to control your's power, so don't be scared because accident happen and it was also my fault that let my emotion gets to me."

Leo looks at Carol with red eyes and asks, "What if I had killed you? And the worse part is that I like it, and there is something within me that wants me to lose control and let it lose."

"It wants to hurt, it wants to kill, it's like a monster within me."

Leo looks at Carol's eyes with teary eyes and says, "Carol, I am scared."

Seeing his scared face Carol hugs him immediately and reassures him, "It will be all right little Leo."

As Leo heard this he started crying in Carol's embrace.

As Leo stopped crying he drifted off to sleep in Carol's embrace.

As Leo drifted off Carol kisses his forehead and says, "Don't worry my child, I will protect you from that monster inside you."

<Five Year Later>

Just outside the cabin near the farm, there were a few dead sheep with their guts all out and blood was all over the ground, the whole barn was stinking with the stench of the dead sheep.

Inside the barn, the cows are still alive but are scared of the attack on the sheep.

Leo and Carol see this, Leo examines this and he gets the smell of a wild animal near the half-eaten sheep.

While Carol sees the footprints of an animal, Leo dips the mud of the footprint and smells the mud. From this, he determines that the animal is a bear. Near these footprints, he also sees a few small footprints.

From this Leo deduces that the attack was done by an adult female bear with a few small cubs.

"It's a female bear and this small footprint belongs to her cubs.", said Leo.

"The winter is almost here, the bears are likely to continue these kinds of attack as it will soon be the hibernating season for the bears. This is the second attack in this month.", Carol says looking at Leo and asks him,

"What we do when someone tries to takes what is ours?"

Leo looks into Carol's eyes and says with a blank face, "We hunt them."

Carol smiles and asks Leo, "So, you know what to do, right?"

Leo replies, "We will hunt them." Carol smiles and shakes her head in negation and says, "No, this time you will hunt alone."

Leo surprisingly asks Carol, "You want me to hunt alone?"

Carol nods and says, "Consider this as your test, if you excel this we will have choco chips ice cream your favorite for dessert."

Leo's eyes sparkle at this and he salutes Carol, "Yes ma'am!"

Saying this Leo rushes towards the forest following the footprints and the smell of the bear.

<Inside the forest>

Leo is following the tail of the bear which leads him deep into the boreal forest/taiga, which is cover with Conifers with needle leaves and cones. These include black spruce, white spruce, balsam fir, larch (tamarack), lodgepole pine, and jack pine. A few are broad-leaved species: trembling and large-toothed aspen, cottonwood and white birch, and balsam poplar.

Most of the part of the forest is cover with thin snow which gives it an enchanter and peaceful scenery in which Leo can lose himself for hours.

'Ah, taiga, a place where I can be at peace. No brutal training, no need to hold back and smell, man I could spend hours in here but I have to hunt that mother fucking, airhead bears so they can leave the barn animals alone.', Leo thought as he comes across the brown and black hills streaked with snow, flashes of iced-over lakes, the long braids of a river gleaming at the bottom of a canyon. Leo looks at the sky that had deepened to a blue so pure he knew it would bring tears to his eyes if he looked long enough.

Leo remembers his time when Carol brings him into the taiga/forest for hunting games which he always derives pleasure. He always is fond of hunting eastern grey squirrel, also known as the grey squirrel and Brush rabbit, especial rabbit, their meat tastes a bit like chicken, which he relishes its meat. He always likes a good hunting game.

"G-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r!"

Leo heard this growl deep in the forest. He starts going towards that rumbles at a slow pace, staying vigilant about any possible danger.

"Gobble-chomp-champ", sound comes from across the bushes.

Leo emergently hid behind the bushes taking out his 18 inches Bowie knife.

He sees an adult male Kodiak bear who is 12' feet long and approx weighs up to 1,500 pounds.

"Fuck.", says Leo as he recognized this bear.

'Fuck, this going to be hard kill. Man, I was foolish not to bring the gun, there is no way I can take that teddy bear and come out without any serious injuries, hell I may even die here.', Leo then notice a half-eaten moose and try to come with a plan, 'That teddy bear will take almost half an hour to finish to moose, first I will mark the path I have taken to reach here then I will bring my Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan gun, that babe packs a lot of punch into a standard long action then I will come and put this teddy bear to the sweet eternal sleep.'

Leo was about to leave but suddenly his instinct screams danger from behind.

He quickly jumps aside as a paw was about to hit him, what he sees is an adult female grizzly bear who he guesses weighs about 400 lb(180 kg).

'Dammit, this is the bear I was looking for, I have to be quick before I get the attention of that big Kodiak bear.', Leo thought as he continues to dodge the grizzly bear attack.

Leo starts to get angry and his hands start to get heated, Leo clothes were started to smoke, he then dodges the paw and jump forward towards the bear head and punch the bear on the face so hard that the bear gets dizzy and fell.

Taking this opportunity he takes his knife out to finish the job.

Leo is about to kill the fallen bear at the same time he gets blown away by the strong paw.

Leo is still sock by a sudden attack he is about to get up but the Kodiak bear run forward and bit his shoulder of Leo and shake his head to which Leo let out a scream.

Leo is in great pain, pain so great that bring tears to his eyes. His body starts to get hot, and uncontrollable anger starts to build up inside the Leo lets out foot-long bone claws, three in each arm, that are housed beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms.

It hurts when it comes out, then Leo let war cry and stab the bear head with his claws.

Bear let out one last cry and die in an instant, the dead bear fall on top of Leo, he manages to get and inspect his shoulder wound, to his surprise, the wound is healed, his wound never healed so quickly, he will ask Carol about it later.

Leo picked up the knife and moves forward toward the female bear then he notices three little bear cubs trying to help their mother.

Leo hesitated to kill this mother bear. He does not want to orphans these cubs.

So he decided to help this bear and he took out a health kit, as he moves forwards the bear let out a cry, Leo understood this and says, "Relax girl, I am here to help you, okay.", and Leo continued to mend the bear wound.

"You should come with me, you are too injured to live in the forest.", says Leo and to his surprise bear nod her head.

'Carol is going to be piss, but to have a pet bear how awesome would be that.', Leo thoughts as they continued their way back.

<Outside the cabin>

Carol is waiting for Leo to come back outside the cabin. After some time, Carol sees Leo coming outside the forest with the bear. She also sees that the female bear has also come with Leo.

Carol sees that Leo's clothes are all torn and there are bloodstains on his clothes.

As Leo approaches Carol she asks him, "What happened in that forest?"

Leo replies, "Let's talk inside". Saying this he and Carol go inside the cabin and Leo commands the bear to stay outside.

<Inside the cabin>

Leo tells Carol about the entire incident which happened in the forest: His powers and the attack of the bears.

After Leo tells all this to Carol he asks her, "The bear was fighting for her cubs. Are all the mothers like that, risking their lives for their cub?"

Carol nods in agreement.

Leo asks Carol, "I that why you saved me from that lab all those years ago?"

Carol says, "That was one of the main reason to save you, my son."

Leo welling up asks Carol, "Can I call you mother?"

Carol nods and opens her arms to hug him.

Leo hugs her immediately and feels a warmth in her embrace.

<Unknown location>

A tall black-haired man with very pale skin watches over Carol and Leo and with a sinister grin on his face says, "Oh! What a heartwarming moment."

The man's face then turns malicious and he says, "Soon Carol your son will be my pawn."

The man is non-other than Nathaniel Essex.
