Staying For The Night

Soon enough, the four of them sat together for dinner. Da-Jung and Woo-Jin sat next to one another while Woo-Jin's parents sat opposite them. Woo-Jin's parents smiled because it was a rare opportunity to see the four of them eating together like this after their son's divorce.

Their daughter-in-law was still very respectful and they couldn't help but feel more loving towards her.

"Can the two of you stay tonight?"

*COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH*

Da-Jung choked on her food when she heard Woo-Jin's father ask her. She looked at Woo-Jin who was pouring water for her and her mother-in-law who was calm with eating her food. She coughed again and drank the water which Woo-Jin placed beside her.

"I..." As she opened her mouth to speak, Woo-Jin spoke with a hidden smile on his face "I'm okay with staying for the night. It has been some time since I came over and stayed at home."

He took a piece of salmon and placed it on Da-Jung's plate. "What about you? Would you like to stay?" He asked occasionally while placing another piece of salmon.

Da-Jung sneered at Woo-Jin. 'What is he actually planning to do? Making me stay here?' She glared at him angrily and then answered while placing her chopsticks down on the table. "I don't think so, I can stay, father-in-law. I have work tomorrow."

Seeing that Da-Jung had already wiped her mouth with the napkin and placed her chopsticks down, he deduced that she was already done eating. He noticed the two pieces of salmon which were left untouched in Da-Jung's plate and he was a little broken by that.

So, to take revenge of what she did, he decided to make her stay "You won't get cabs this late and our driver is not at home for this week, isn't it, Dad?" He winked at his father and his father agreed with a stutter.

Da-Jung looked at the time... it indeed was late and no cabs would come at this hour... and besides, she couldn't even go alone at this hour. She then, looked at Woo-Jin who was still having his fill from his plate.

Hurriedly, she walked over to his mother and encircled her arms around her neck. Woo-Jin's mother knew what was to come and she tried to keep herself calm. She couldn't get distracted by her daughter-in-law like this. She also wanted her to stay.

"Mother-in-law..." Da-Jung began to speak coquettishly. "Can you please tell Woo-Jin to drop me, huh? Hmmm.... please???" She pushed out her lower lip and looked with pity in her eyes.

Woo-Jin coughed as he noticed Da-Jung's change in tone and behaviour. "Stop with your cute act! No one is going to get affected by it."

Woo-Jin's mother looked at her son who sneakily shook his head and she cleared her throat. She pushed Da-Jung slowly and said with an understanding smile. "I understand, you have work tomorrow, dear... but... My Woo-Jin... he rarely comes home and I want him to stay. If he was to drop you back home, I know that he would not come... So, please dear! Can you not stay for tonight? Tomorrow morning, I will surely be the first person to make him wake up and drop you... Please, dear?"

Now it was Woo-Jin's mother's time to shine. She also looked at Da-Jung with a cute baby look and Da-Jung sighed. "Okay! I will stay for the night." She slowly mumbled and Woo-Jin's father let out a big yes.

Woo-Jin also smiled and his mother noticed him doing so.

Later when everyone was going to sleep, Da-Jung was given the room next to Woo-Jin's parents. And Woo-Jin was going to sleep in his room which was to the left of his parents' room. He smiled as he closed the door and opened his closet to wear something for the night.

As he was going to the washroom, a knock came and he opened the door.

Woo-Jin's mother walked inside his room and stared at him while squinting her eyes. She kept her hand on her chin and eyed him from up to down. "Is something going on between you two?"

Woo-Jin knew what that look was for. He immediately shook his head "Of course not! What could possibly be between us two?"

However, his mother wasn't one to back off so easily. She still kept her hand on her chin as if she was in some deep thought and circled around him. "There sure is something going on between you two..." She began to mumble while circling around her son.

"Is there going to be any good news?"

"What? What good news?" Seeing the amusing look which his mother was giving him, Woo-Jin was shocked. Was there actually any good news between him and Da-Jung?

"Heh! You are mistaken, mom! Nothing as such."

His mother was still giving him that doubtful expression and he had nothing other than sending her out of the room to stop her from asking such questions or being misled. He pushed his mother out of the room saying that he was sleepy and closed the door behind him.

When the room feel into silence, Woo-Jin sat on the corner of the bed and took out something from his drawer. It was a small square box. There were two rings inside it. He chuckled as he saw the rings which consisted of his and Da-Jung's name.

That was the first gift he had received from Da-Jung upon their first month of marriage. They were cute and they always looked cute when they were in their fingers. The ring in Da-Jung's finger used to look more beautiful and he loved to see her wear that ring every day.

Although, it was too late for him to realise that, Woo-Jin chuckled while thinking about his foolishness. He didn't even know as to why he was having this box with him... Their separation was done in such a way that even to this day, Woo-Jin found it heart-breaking.
