I am no Hero 2

Jason Kane was driving into the small town, using one of the SUVs that he, Coulson, and the other agents arrived in. He was driving rather slowly, his eyes looking for an Asgardian. He and his people hated the supposed gods, they were part of the reason why he was here. Why his people could be wiped out with only he being the survivor. The anger that he felt towards them boiled beneath his skin, but he retainer a calm composure. Right now he was Jason Kane, so he must act the part. It wouldn't be long before he soon arrived at the local hospital. He had to investigate and see if anyone got hurt when the Asgardian weapon came down and crashed unto Terra. When he parked, he took his time getting out of the vehicle. As soon as he turned, he watched a truck speed off down the road quickly. His eyes narrowed on it and focused on the tag just in case. That said, he was not going to chase after someone with little to no reason.

Kane walked up the stairs towards the hospital's entrance. He noticed that quite a few nurses were running about in a panic. His brows furrowed before he caught a passing doctor. "Excuse me, is there a problem?" Kane inquired, and watched the doctor about to refuse to answer.

"The reason that I asked is because I'm in the middle of an investigation for the FBI", Kane lied then showed a forged badge, "I'm looking for a person of interest. It's imperative to give me any kind of information. I think that they came to this hospital, any odd persons been I here?"

The doctor eyeballed the badge, then felt his eyes widening slowly. He nodded quickly before speaking to Kane. "We had a patient who may have suffered from some form of blunt force trauma", The doctor began to say, "We had thought that it would pass but...they left their room."

Kane nodded, then took out a notepad and pen. "Can you describe them for me?" He asked.

"Blonde hair, blue eyes, has a beard, and big. Like he's muscular."

'Sound's like an Asgardian alright...' Kane thought as he wrote down what he was told. "Thank you for cooperating", Kane thanked then handed the doctor a calling card, "Call that number if this person turns up again alright?"

Before the doctor could question anything, Kane turned and walked out of the hospital. He immediately took out his phone and began calling Coulson. He wanted to start a manhunt for the Asgardian, to find and kill them. However for now he had to play the role of Shield Agent Kane....for now at least.

"Coulson." Phil answered.

"Got a person of interest, not sure where they are but it sounds like they are worth investigating", Kane reported, "Anything on your end?"

"Not much, the eggheads can't remove the object. That said they do say that it's radiating something. Whether it's radiation or something else can't be said at the moment. Anyway, keep investigating and keep me posted. And please for all that is good, don't approach them until I get there."

"Coulson, I am hardly untrustworthy for that."

"You shattered a woman's kneecap when she didn't want to answer any of your questions."

"She had it coming."

"Just don't do anything, alright?"

"Understood."

After speaking, Kane ended the call with Coulson and let out a sigh. He remembered the tag that he saw and believed that it was worth investigating. After all, they did leave in quite the hurry.

{One Hour Later}

"How is it this hard to find an ugly looking van?" Kane commented as he strolled down the road in his SUV. His irises kept scanning the street and buildings, identifying every type of vehicle except the one that he had seen earlier. It was beginning to annoy him, until he decided to let it go for now. His hatred for Asgardians was starting to cloud his common sense. He couldn't allow that to happen, especially with the current identity that he was playing as. With reluctance on his part, he stirred the SUV and began leaving the town. As he did, he noted that a blonde haired male walking past him on the street. Though he didn't think much about it, after all anyone could be blonde haired.

As Kane continued to drive, he took a detour to return back to where Coulson and the others would be working on the temporary base. As he neared it he saw a makeshift gate, the guards stopped him of course and allowed him to enter. Kane would soon arrive at a parking lot and park the SUV. Approaching him was Coulson who had an expectant look on his face.

"Nothing, though I do have someone of interest", Kane reported then handed Coulson a stick-it note with a tag number on it, "Run this tag, fairly sure that they have something to do with this. Other than that the trail went cold, got a description of our person of interest but it could be anyone honestly."

"True", Coulson replied as he looked over the tag number, "Anything else?"

"Not really no."

"Then let's find out where this tag number goes to."

With that, both Coulson and Kane walked away from the temporary parking lot and headed into the makeshift facility. As they walked inside, they passed by scientists or guards who saluted or nodded at Kane and Coulson. Eventually they would arrive at a surveillance station with Coulson giving the tag number that Kane wrote down to one of the officer in charge. "Gonna need you yo get a fix on this tag number, we need to know who it belongs to." Coulson ordered and watched the officer nodding their head and walked to a nearby computer.

"I'm gonna need some coffee." Kane muttered to himself as he folded his arms over his chest. Coulson seemed to have heard his partner and sent a glance to him.

"I'll be right back." Coulson stated, and walked out of the room. Kane watched him leave with a raised brow, then looked forward again. He began pondering of the Asgardian once again. His hatred for them was nothing more than a plethora worth of reasons why they should be hated. His people once warred with the Asgardians for centuries. Now they held an uneasy truce...until 300 years ago that is.

"Sir?", the officer from before called as he walked over, "We know who owns the vehicle as well as where they are."

"Good", Kane commented, "I'll go get my coffee and then-"

"Well that's good, you're coming with me to find out who owns this tag." Coulson interrupted and returned as if he were a speedster.

"Alright, at least let me-"

"Have your coffee?"

"....Is there-"

"Three spoons of sugar?"

"Stop it."

"Stop what?"

"Stop trying to be friendly with me, it's weird."

Coulson raised a brow while smiling up at Kane. The man has known Kane since he had joined Shield, yet at no point did the two ever seem like friends. Coulson was everyone's friend somehow, yet Kane was more receptive towards the man. He didn't want to gain a friend, Clint and Natasha were more like friends through circumstance.

"So, gonna take the-" Coulson was about to offer the cup of coffee but was interrupted when Kane swiped it out of his hand.

"Yes I'll take the damn coffee." Kane replied, then began walking out of the room.

"How about I drive?"

"Coulson, you are pushing it." Kane warned, then glanced back to see the man staring at him with a smile.

'If I wasn't trying to keep up appearances, then I would have killed this idealistic fool.' Kane thought then watched as several other agents were headed over to them. The assembled group walked out of the facility and headed towards the parking lot. It wouldn't be long before they arrived at the parked SUVs.

"You weren't acting like this earlier, need a Tylenol?" Coulson offered.

Instead of replying, Kane decided to remain silent and just downed the cup of coffee. Coulson watched him, shrugged, then got into the front passenger seat of Kane's SUV. Kane got into his SUV in the driver's seat. Not long afterwards, he turned it back on just as two agents entered in the backseats.

"So, listen to the radio?" Coulson questioned, as Kane began to drive behind the other SUVs leaving the base.

"Coulson, can you please tell me why we are headed back to the town?" Kane asked while ignoring the man's question.

"Because as it turns out, we have someone smart in the town." He began to explain then pulled out his phone. He then moved to show a picture to Kane but the red headed male did not look.

"I'm driving."

"Didn't stop you before."

"Tell me who it is before I stop this truck and decide to do something that Agent Rommanoff would do."

"She'd be nice."

"She's Shield's best spy, how do you know if she isn't acting?"

Coulson opened his mouth to speak but fell silent. He had to think for a few seconds about that response, realizing that Kane may have had been true to some degree. "I'll get back to you on that later", Coulson relented, "Anyway the person that we're heading to is Dr. Jane Foster, or at least figure out where she went. Apparently she and an Eric Selvig are the prime eggheads in Astrophysics. Though we really need to have a word with Dr. Selvig since he's more experienced in the field. Turns out that they were here at the same time as when that anomaly happened. So there is no telling what they know, and what we can gain after investigating."

"So you want me to-"

"I don't want you to do anything, just stand around and look imposing like those guys behind us."

A swift silence befell the vehicle, to the point that it became awkward. Coulson shattered the silence however as he looked back to see the two agents in the backseat staring forward. "I didn't mean that in a bad way by the way." Coulson clarified.

{Thirty Minutes Later}

Kane and the convoy of SUVs would soon arrive at an abandoned building, one that had the van that he saw earlier the same day. His eyes landed on it, then on the people inside. He parked the SUV, then turned it off just as Coulson and the agents in the backseat stepped out. The other SUVs parked around setting up a perimeter just as Kane got out and straightened his suit. He watched to see Dr. Foster walk out confused as agents an analysts walked inside of the small building that they were in. Kane barely moved from where he stood, he simply stood in front of his SUV and kept his hands at his side. Coulson would do the talking, and he wasn't willing to get involved in what would he said. Kane ignored the conversation going on, and centered his attention on a pale skinned young woman who stared at him. He raised a brow at her, and watched as she looked away nervous.

'Great, another one who can't keep their eyes to themselves.' Kane thought before facing forward once more. He could see analysts and agents taking out items of interest as well as documents. They were mildly unhindered, gaining no interference from Selvig or the young woman. The only one who was speaking however was Dr. Foster, and already Kane was getting annoyed by her. That was when he saw her wave a notebook, speaking about there being more information on that than what they had taken. So of course Coulson had someone take it from her after she let her big fat mouth tell them that.

However, Dr. Foster didn't take that quite well. She moved forward and immediately went to reach for her notebook back. This is when Kane moved, nearly dashing over and grabbing Dr. Foster by her forearm tightly. She winced and yelped in pain from his iron grip before staring up into his scarlet irises. "I'll only say this in a way that you understand...", Kane addressed dryly, "Shut...up."

With that Dr. Foster's lips remained closed as she stared up at Kane with a fearful look. He released her seconds later, allowing her to hold her forearm protectively. Kane watched her step away from him then walked back over to his SUV. Already he could feel Coulson's disapproving eyes on him. The man said nothing, for now at least. Bidding their farewell, Coulson entered Kane's SUV just as the red headed male did so as well. Moments later, they were leaving the area and heading back to base. It was an eerie silence as Kane drove, Coulson looked as if he were trying to stop himself from speaking. Unfortunately he ended up opening his mouth up in the end.

"You didn't have to step in." Coulson commented, but found no response from Kane. The red headed male just continued to drive as they got onto the highway. "You need to get your act in check, we're trying to protect these people, not make them our enemies."

"These people are willing to hide important information that could help us.", Kane said with a stone cold tone, "If she had complied or even reported this to any proper authorities then we wouldn't be taking anything that she had."

"Kane, has anyone ever told you that you can be an ass?"

"Not in my face no.."

Coulson slowly turned in his seat and put his face as close as he could get to Kane's face. "Kane, you're an ass." Coulson said with no hint of fear as Kane continued to drive showing no reaction.

"Good for you, you chose while I'm driving to say that", Kane commented as Coulson sat back in his seat, "I'd like for you to say that again when I stop driving."

A tense silence befell the inside of the SUV, the two agents seated behind Kane and Coulson looked between each other then at Coulson who eyed Kane waryingly now. The One Good Eye of Director Fury didn't know what was going to happen when the SUV would stop. All he knew was that a great many people within Shield were wary of Kane, and all Coulson had seen was the aftermath of Kane's work. He knew that the man could kill him if he wanted to, but he was also not quite sure if Kane was loyal to Shield.

"Don't worry.", Kane suddenly called, "I'm not going to kick your ass, I'm just going to give you a 'warning shot'."

That made the silence after even more tense as the drive back to base became more like a time limit of how long Coulson had before Kane would do something to him..

{5 Hours Later}

Jason Kane was sitting inside of a surveillance room watching the cameras. His arms were folded over his chest as he watched the cameras. He could hear thunder roaring outside, but he ignored it. Deep within his mind he was assuming that the Asgardian who was here must be on their way. For the hammer embedded in the earth was anything but normal. He had a vivid memory of what it was and how it was used.

'Mjölnir...' Kane thought with disgust, then closed his eyes trying to calm his anger. A cold look was on his face just likemortal. Any agents who saw him or walked past him gave him a wide berth. Most Shield Agents were wary of him, they heard rumors that he was ruthless when on the mission. Some of them even had opinions of him being a merciless assassin. Of course Kane heard of such things, but treat them as nothing more than a minor thing. After all, words do nothing unless there was any truth to them.

"Sir?", Called one agent who was staring at the screen for the cameras, "We've got an intruder."

The moment that Kane heard that, he opened his eyes and turned his gaze towards the agent who talked. His eyes glued onto the screen and saw a blonde haired and bearded male trekking their way through heavy rain going on outside. "Have security be on the lookout for him, and to secure the area for anyone else." Kane ordered then turned and began walking out of the surveillance room.

'He's...not who I thought he would be.' Kane thought suspiciously, but continued marching himself out of the room. He began to go into a light jog, headed for the sight of where the hammer was. As he did this, he could hear a scuffle amongst the ongoing storm and lightning. It was almost midnight now, and he was in the mood to let out some steam. As soon as he entered the facility surrounding the hammer, he bounded around a corner within a corridor. He found himself coming face to face with a man standing at 6"7. The intruder obviously worked out, or at least had a fine physique. His piercing blue eyes locked onto Kane's scarlet ones, glaring onto him before rushing at him. Cocking a fist back, he sent it forward intending to knock out Kane. However, the seasoned Shield Agent simply moved and sent a knee into the man's gullet. A grunt was heard, then spinning he hit the Intruder with a spin kick to the side of his head. Kane watched as the intruder fell onto their rear, luckily for the man before him, Kane was holding back. Otherwise this man would have lost his head. Much to Kane's surprise, the Intruder began to smile before glaring up at him.

"You're strong....", the blonde haired intruder complimented, "But I've fought stronger."

As soon as he said that, Kane narrowed his eyes at him and instead of replying he sent a kick at the man's cheek. This time however, the Intruder caught his leg, and with surprising strength, he hurled Kane out of the corridor and out to the muddy rain. Kane grunted out of annoyance, before rolling out of the way from a People's Elbow. When he got to his feet, he saw a grin was plastered on the intruders' face. It annoyed Kane, he didn't take pleasure in fighting. He took pleasure in getting rid of threats, finding a challenge was a warrior's role. Which got him to thinking, why was this man here?

Putting the thought to the side for now, he got into a boxers' stance and watched as the man bolted at him. Whomever this intruder was it didn't matter, he was going to kill hi. regardless.
