Chapter Three

It was midnight, a cool breeze filled the air and the full moon shone brightly. Vincent walked down the dirt path, with small clouds of dust arising and falling back down with every step and the bright glow of the moon reflecting off of his jet black hair. Eventually he entered the clearing and walked over towards the fountain. As he approached, a large 4ft crow flew away from its fresh kill. Vincent stood over Raymonds mutilated body, knowing exactly what had happened. And he was not surprised, not in the least.

" You know Raymond, I kind of feel bad." Vincent said. " I really do." a crooked, half smile appeared on Vincent's face.

" I was thinking about taking it back...but then you had to investigate, and now you're another one of Echo Creeks' lost souls." " Though I couldn't keep running from it forever, and you just happened to be the unlucky one. Oh how things work out." Vincent's smile faded.

" You may think my actions are cruel, but I'm doing the world a favor. No one will remember this wretched town. Echo Creek will be forgotten, as long as it doesn't exist, the curse doesn't either." Vincent looked down to see a journal next to a shallow hole. He kicked it in, knowing better than to touch it, and filled in the hole once more.

" Looks like you finally got smart, but you got rid of the wrong thing. " As the sun rose, Vincent walked back down the dirt road and into town.
