A long time coming

Weston Churchill was a fickle and self-serving man under pressure. Especially under pressure. If you were above him in position or power he would suck up to you if it served his purposes. The burns on Sano's neck would forever be a prime indicator. If pilot was fit to beating a man while he's down in Supermax it was Weston Churchill.

It takes a lot of electric surges to put permanent scars on a god-eater, usually ones enhanced with oracle. The burns marks on Sano's neck came from a significant electrical charge.

But that is another story...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!

Sano set his winged god-arc darting and dashing through the sky unable to contain his excitement. Churchill was flung through the sky like a ragdoll.

How high you wanna take him?

"(YES!!!!)" With a hard flap, the wings of the predator took off even further into the clouds.

Down below Unit 1 watched the air circus in confusion.

"Uuuuuh, what's happening?" Kota asked.

The only response given was Kanons cackling. In turn, making the trio shrink away from her.

The happier Sano got, the happier she seemed to be.

The inmate continued his ascent into the sky, the god-arcs predator formed a hard-pressed eagle.

The inmate leaked down to the side to see Churchill still screaming inaudible words.

Not that it would've helped him.

Sano and his god-arc only continued to go higher, tethering Churchill.

Piercing cloud after cloud, the winged predator suddenly came to a halt. The tendril holding Churchill began to whip around like a rope.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm still not sure we're high enough.

"(One way to find out.)" Sano thought with a gritty smile.

DOWN THE DRAIN YA GO!

The tendril whisked Churchill down, as his screams echoed the skies louder than before. Sano immediately descended after him, circling Churchill's path.

The inmate watched as the Officer flailed widely against the wind and turbulence.

"(Let's get a better look from the ground.)" Sano thought.

Lets

The inmate flew past Churchills falling from down to Kanon and Unit 1. With a hard slide, Sano landed next to Kanon.

The two smiled at each other and looked at the sky. This did nothing to aid in informing Unit 1 of the current situation.

"Uh...Sano, where's the--guy?" Kota hesitated to ask.

Sano stuck his god-arc into the ground only smiling. Which only raised the concerns of Erina and Emil.

The way Kanon and the inmate stared at the sky, only alarmed Kota. The captain warily looked at the sky as well.

Squinting as hard as he could, Kota glimpsed at a "dot" minuscule expanding. Upon seeing the "dot" had limbs, he grunted in a hoarse manner.

"Uh Sano, you're not gonna let him fall right?" Kota asked as he grew pale.

Kota was met with silence.

"Right?" he asked again.

Sano and Kanon still didn't acknowledge him, but their smirks grew.

"Right!?" After several minutes Churchill's screams were finally able to be heard. Erina looked back and forth between her Captain and the inmate. Emil hearing the faint screams looked around for the source.

"You're gonna catch him now right?" Kota said.

Sano held up a hand signaling to wait. Her Captain's growing tension alerted Erina to the sky above, but she couldn't see as far as Kota.

Minutes flew by.

"You're gonna NOW, right!?" Kota was met with another halt signal.

As the minutes flew by Churchill's screams were becoming louder.

And louder

And Louder

And Louder...

"I say what is amiss?" Emil finally looked up to see a vividly visible Churchill.

"Sounds like 'help' over and over again." Erina said.

Kota was about to plead again but was silenced.

And so they stood there watching Churchill fall.

Watching

and waiting

Waiting

And watching

They waited.

And waited

And waited

I forget what are we waiting for again.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGH!

Oh right, that.

Kota's concerns grew as Sano seemed to start humming. Even more so when Kanon joined in.

"Now!?" Kota asked.

Sano only put up his hand.

Another agonizing minute later, it looked like the inmate was finally going to catch Churchill.

However, it was Kanon who did halt the inmate this time. The inmate courteously stepped back in place next to her.

As the volume increased, the Unit 1 trio became tenser.

After another stressful minute and a half, Kanon motioned Sano forward and he slung his god-arc outward. It morphed into predator and snapped hold onto Churchill.

No more than 3 feet from the ground.

The jaws released Churchill by Kanon landing with a weary thud.

With a hum, Kanon bent down to the Officer with a sweet smile.

"So still want to fly back?" she asked.

"Noooooooo....." Churchills's head fell to the side as he seemingly passed out on the spot.

Kanon displayed a sadistic smile and turned to the other guards.

"How about you guys?" she asked.

Seeing their comrade sprawled on the ground like fresh roadkill, the response was brief.

"I think we'll wait for a ride back. Something you should call in now, yes? Hayden's not really safe to move." the female officer said to Kota.

"Uh----Right!" Kota pulled out his phone and started dialing. All while giving a questioning look at Kanon.

"Alright as you wish." Kanon turned back to her friends with hum and kicked dirt on Churchill for good measure. Seeing Kota frown at her, Kanon shamelessly smiled more.

"I'll explain later." she said, doing nothing to comfort Kota. Erina and Emil were no better.

"Let's go home." Sano said, morphing his god-arc back into winged-predator.

"He deserved worse." Kanon whispered as she took glances at his neck.

He did ya know.

"(I should tell her everything.)And now he'll know not to push his luck here ever again." the inmate said as he put an arm around Kanon.

"Come on Erina." Kanon called. The younger god-eater yelped in surprise and hesitantly looked at her Captain.

"Just go, I'm gonna call us a ride, hey you did great today, go brag about the comeback of the Retaliation Squad!" Kota said as he patted Erina on the head. Emil nodded and gave her a thumbs up.

Erina blushed and with a nod embraced Sano. In turn, the inmate held her close. As the god-arc flapped its wings, Erina yelped in joy with Kanon.

"I can't believe you could fly this whole time Sano, why didn't you show us sooner!?" Erina asked.

For a moment the inmate was silent, but she could tell it was from a lump in his throat.

"I was saving it for Mutsumi when she passed her test." Sano said, with a tone of embarrassment.

The girls gasped in surprise but understood the intent all the same.

"OOOOH, now I feel bad, she would've enjoyed this so much!" Kanon whined.

"Actually---I think that test was today. Maybe we should go ask her...?" Erina suggested.

Sano and Kanon smiled at each other and the winged god-arc picked up its pace.

Inside the Far East Branch Wall(Far East Public School)

Mutsumi hovered back and forth on the swing set. While the other kids played around the jungle gyms and waited for their parents. The teachers seemed burned out and yet relieved.

"I passsssed, I passssed!" Mutsumi repeated swinging higher each time she said it.

As Mutsumi hummed to herself, she peaked at the sky. At the height of each swing, Mutsumi noted there seemed to be something getting bigger and bigger.

Mutsumi halted herself, hearing a faint yell, and looked around for the source. The children and teachers weren't quiet, but they were more clear.

"Who's calling me?" Mutsumi looked up and squinted to a flying object approaching.

"(Is that an aragami? But why would an aragami be calling me?)" Mutsumi thought squinting harder. Mutsumi could make out wings flapping ever so often and the "dragon" using them.

"Erina?" Mutsumi questioned.

Coming into focus Mustumi could see the individuals dangling from the 'dragon'. Two of them were waving at her.

"Kanon?" Mutsumi saw the pink hair of the god-eater flow in the wind. It was then she saw the inmate staring at her. As they flew lower, Sano extended his arm.

Mutsumi gasped seeing them come into full view on his winged god-arc. Once she understood the inmate's gesture, Mutsumi quickly ran inside the building, brushing past student and teacher alike to the upstairs.

When she reached the roof door, Mutsumi took something out of her bag and waved it to the sky. The inmate glided to the roof and upon glimpsing the big A+ 110 in big letters, he extended his hand to Mutsumi.

The child jumped up and happily took flight with the three. Mutsumi had earned her surprise reward. The inmate didn't need to ask why the score was 110. The extra points were from the extra-credit questions. The ones he helped with.

With congratulations from all sides, the 4 flew off around the Den taking their time along the way.
