Goodbye to the Worm-verse!

I awoke to Star drooling over my chest, laid cross over it and Riley lying halfway off the bed like a drunkard.

I chuckled as I lifted Star off of me, and placed him on the bed, kissing his forehead.

Such a cute little thing.

And he was mine. My son.

I felt a little happy at the thought as I got off the bed and made my way to the Sterilizer, and got all the morning chores done in an instant.

The computer as always brought up the everyday alerts and news, tasks and to dos.

Today's list however was rather short. Uncharacteristically so.

For a good reason.

Today, we leave this world.

Today, I go to the MCU.

But first, I needed to make sure the Endbringers don't fall into the wrong hands.

I had scanned the world, parallel worlds, even Cauldron's old files.

But there was no sign of the damn conflict engines anywhere.

I had killed or disabled 6 of them, but there should still be fourteen more of the dormant, hiding away in some unknown pocket dimension.

I pulled out the alternate timeline goggles from a portal and ran through the possibilities in a flash, only to find nothing. Almost as if the the Endbringers just up and disappeared.

I suppose the entities are really good at making pocket dimensions, especially since it's a matter of life or death for them.

It is to be expected.

I sighed.

Sure, I could find them if I put in enough time and effort, but.....

I'm in no mood to waste any more time in this world.

Today, I will leave for the MCU.

But, that doesn't mean I have to give up on them.

With a thought I summoned Galatea and she appeared beside me from a portal of shimmering starry black fractals.

"Oh, you're getting a hang if your powers." I smiled as she put her arms around my neck and snuggled up to me.

A bit too ... affectionate?

Perhaps that's Offee's personality at work?

I didn't mind it of course.

It's nice.

"Galatea, I'll need you to stay back here and scout through this reality cluster for any and all hidden pocket dimensions. Your targets are...."

I pulled up a visual on the holoscreen, showing the Endbringers.

"...these creatures. Find them, capture them and turn them to your side. With the death of both of their creators they should be purposeless and and lost enough that they won't put up much of a resistance. Your Eidolon shard should help with the control bit too. Do you understand?"

She nodded and let out a gurgled squeak, like a bark from a half dead baby seal, startling me.

She looked at me sad and downcast as I patted her head.

"That's okay. You'll learn in time. Now take the current reality and it's Earth as the central focus for the operation."

I opened a portal and a locator beacon fell into my hands.

"Use this to find me once you're done.

And maybe try to learn human speech and mannerisms while you're here?"

She nodded, gripping me tighter in a hug.

[Craving]

She let out a signal.

Craving?

Oh, she butchered yearning.

Right, she is a baby entity after all.

Her first words won't be perfect by any means.

She'll learn.

Though the feelings I can relate to.

Having to go on a mission just after being created, it must be hard on her to leave the only family she's ever known.

She's like a puppy, craving attention.

It's very understandable.

"Yes, yes. I will miss you too." I said, patting her head, as she parted from me.

"Now go. The faster you find them, the faster you can come back home."

She chirped up and took the beacon, disappearing into another fractal portal.

I stretched and yawned again, as I went back to work, waking Star and Riley up, dragging them through the morning routine as we got ready for departure.

"Star!" I shook him, "Wake up now. It's already morning!"

"Five minutes more, Papa." He muttered.

"Alright! Up you go!" I said lifting him off the bed and throwing him into the air.

"Wawawawa!" He cried as his eyes shot open and I caught him.

"Awake now?" I asked.

"Umu!" He pouted, "I wanna sleep more!"

"You can sleep later!" I said trying to ignore his puppy dog eyes to no avail.

Such a cutie!

I squished him in hug and brought him to the Sterilizer.

"We'll take a nap in the afternoon, okay?" I ruffled his hair, and got him dressed.

"But breakfast is ready. And you don't want to eat it cold now do you?"

"No!" He chirped as I lifted him onto my shoulders and made my way to the dining room.

Riley met us on the table already gnawing on some bacon.

"Goob monin'!" She greeted mid chew.

"Don't speak with your mouth full." I scolded, putting Star down.

"What are we doing today Papa!?" She asked as she swallowed, looking up excitedly.

"Nothing as fun as making a new entity." I said, and her face fell, "But we are relocating to another world today."

"Wait! That was today?" She exclaimed, as I pulled up a holoscreen with the date.

"Aw! I forgot! I haven't even gotten everything from my caches yet." She complained.

"Don't worry, I got the droids to do that last week. All your equipment and samples are in the holding bay number 53. You can check it out later.

As for now, we finish our breakfast and get to Earth for some final goodbyes and maybe one last gift for this world."

"But Auntie Tats isn't here?" Star asked.

"You really like Auntie Tats, don't you?" I pinched his cheeks.

"Uhun!" He nodded, "Can't she come with us, Papa? Please!"

"No. She's not strong like you.

She will get hurt if she come with us. But we can go see her one last time before we go. Say goodbye, okay?"

Star nodded sadly.

"And you can come visit her anytime you want, remember?" I said, patting his head.

"Oh!" He exclaimed happily.

"See. There we go!" I smiled.

I opened up a livestream to the rest of the world as we ate.

"Hey there, everyone. Welcome back for the last time. This one's going to be short since I'm leaving this reality today. So here goes!

Remember when I told you I'd heal everyone on the planet if I got Panacea's shard? Guess what?" I smiled, and snapped my fingers.

Thousand upon thousands tiny portals opened up around the world as patients were injected with a new healing serum I stole from a parallel reality.

It wasn't a lot, and it was just a test to see how the serum worked on humans.

And I had a lot of nice guinea pigs to test with right here.

I watched the screens as hundreds of thousands of people got healed and cured of their conditions.

At least this shows that the serum doesn't have any negative side effects.

No mutations, no weakened immuno response.

That's good. It'll come handy later. I looked back at the screen and saw their reactions, some laughing, some crying, other even praying to me, like a god.

Well damn!

There goes my religion counter to three for three!

Though, I suppose that was already true, what with that Endbringer worshipping cult, the Fallen I think they were called, having transformed to one that worshipped me after I killed Scion.

It was one of the things I had glossed over out of sheer disinterest.

Guess when the gods you worship are curb stomped by one man and your doomsday cult falls apart, you make do with what you have huh?

Typical cultists!

They probably shifted their doomsday prediction to another ten years in the future or something and carried on.

At this rate I'll be a god even before I actually ascend!

So many things had changed with my presence in this world.

I had wiped out gods and monsters, beaten heroes and villains, toppled regimes.

The C.U.I. had fractured into tiny warring states after the top brass were crushed into a ball by me.

But that's to be expected of China. It's their whole history after all.

The Japanese were actually building up their infrastructure again and dishing out new super sentai heroes as symbols of the future.

They took my advice, it seems and put all their effort into reverse engineering the tinkertech from their previous power rangers and actually succeeded, if only a little.

Baby steps.

This world, in fact was taking baby steps towards a better future, despite all my attempts at villainy, even without heroes, and an entire apocalypse.

Humans really are tenacious little cockroaches huh?

You stomp them out and they grow back up!

And I suppose that's not all bad.

Still, just in case I deploy a stealth sensory array over the planet, in case some genius figures out how to make a portal gun.

In that case, I've set them up to blow the whole shindig to smithereens.

I could just imagine someone figuring out a portal gun and then immediately getting blown up.

I chuckled at the thought.

"There we go! Everyone's nice and healed up. A final gift from me to you guys because I'm in a good mood today! See ya!" I said, cutting the stream, as we finished eating breakfast.

I wiped by hands clean and stood up, a portal opening beside the table.

"Let's go say goodbye to Auntie Tats, shall we?"

"Really?" Star asked, and Riley eyes me oddly.

"Yup. Doesn't feel right doing it over video call."

"You're getting soft, Papa." She giggled, and followed me through the portal.

"We'll be going into a warzone next. You'll see who's getting soft then!" I ruffled her hair.

"Jay?" Tattletale raised an eyebrow, confused as Star barreled into her arms.

"Weren't you going to leave this reality?" She asked.

"Yup. Just came to check up on you and say goodbye. And Star wanted to say goodbye too."

"How nice of you!" She said, kissing Star on the cheek.

"Hehehehehe!" He giggled.

"Though, I think someone else has something to say too." She said, whistling.

"Hm?"

I turned to the side.

Paige came out from behind a wall, sheepishly waving at me, eyes red.

"She's been here for a few days since you two broke up. Inconsolable." Tattletale explained.

I sighed.

"Hey!" She greeted, walking over like a stiff nutcracker doll.

Awkward!

"Hey. Um ... I was just leaving. No need to see me ou-"

"I'm sorry." She said, grabbing my hand tight.

"I....Lisa helped me see my mistake and...and I just want to say, I'm sorry!" She cried.

"Okay?" I shrugged.

"And I just want you to know, I'll be here. I'll be whatever you want. And you can come over anytime. Even just for-" She stopped herself, looking at the kids.

"You know!" Paige blushed.

I rolled my eyes, and looked at Tattletale, only to find her facepalming.

I snorted in amusement.

"Paige. Look, it's okay. We're still friends. And I'll visit, from time to time." I lied.

I wasn't coming back here for shit.

"And also, you're overcorrecting. Before you wanted to change me for yourself. Now you're forcing yourself to change for me.

People can't be happy like that, Paige. Be yourself. And just relax. You'll find a nice decent guy who's going to make you happy one day. Okay? Just look around. Put your feelers into the ocean. You'll find lots of fish."

"But I want you!" She said, my words falling flat on her ears.

I sighed again.

I tried.

I really did.

But now I have stuff to do.

"Sure. Uh... It was nice seeing you, Paige. I'll see you later. Let's go kids." I said, shaking her hands off me gently, and eyed Tattletale.

She got the message and grabbed Paige by the hand.

"Jay! Please!" She cried, her hamster wheel running a mile a minute.

"A hug! Can you give me one last hug before you go?"

I resisted the urge to groan as I put down Star.

"Fine. One hug. And if you try anything funny...."

"I...just want a hug...." Paige said, pitifully.

I felt a bit sad for her.

I walked up to her and pulled her into a hug, as she nuzzled into my chest.

It felt nice. If there's one thing I'll miss from Paige other than her sweet voice, it's the cuddles.

But it wasn't worth wasting my time with her.

Then she began to take deep, excited breaths, as my brain rang with a red alert.

She was setting of all those yandere flags.

And I wasn't a fan.

Quickly I separted from her, pulling her off me with some effort as she clung on like a leech.

Sheesh!

"One more! Just one mor-"

Tattletale gagged her, eyes filled with worry as she gestured to the door.

I shook my head and opened up a portal as we left her to a screaming Paige.

Note to self. Do not go for yanderes next time.

"Papa, what happened to Auntie Paige? Why was she crying? Is she hurt? " Star asked innocently.

Oh you little cinnamon roll, you!

I pinched his cheeks, as I lifted him into my arms.

"Auntie Paige just loves you so much she doesn't want you to go. Because Star is such a cutie pie!" I kissed his forehead.

"Ehehehe." He giggled.

"Alright then. Riley, are you ready?"

Riley nodded with a big smile.

I pressed the button on the command deck as a portal opened up before the ship and the engines roared into action.

Avicii's The Nights began to play on the stereo as the ship slowly crossed the threshold of the massive portal.

I looked back down at this world one last time.

My time here was short, but it was memorable as heck!

Still, I won't miss it too much!

I smiled.

"To infinity and beyond!"

.

We exited into the light of a moon, overlooking an Earth.

And Earth with a large blue beam rising into the sky.

It came into contact with the exosphere just as we exited and bloomed into a cloud of blue and white, opening up a rift in space.

A portal of sort.

For a moment, there was nothing.

Then like a swarm, thousand upon thousands of creatures, machines and armaments flew out from the portal, barreling straight down onto the surface.

I connected to the local network service and git the necessary data, projected over a holoscreen.

The year was 2012.

And the portal was over New York.

"Looks like we're just on time!" I exclaimed.

"Let's go spit roast a puny god."
