“They’d just say something happened to you,” Shaun told him. “Like you could have fallen down some stairs, or run into a mugger. At least that’s how my sergeant would see things. Now if we knew whoabused you…” He looked dead at Ryan.
When Ryan remained silent, Miss Gina took his hand, saying softly, “Tell him, Ryan. Do you want to spend the rest of your life living in fear?”

Reining in his emotions as much as possible, so he could ask without sounding as if he was begging, he said to Shaun, “If I tell you his name, can you keep it to yourself? Will you keep it to yourself? You, too, Miss Gina?”
“I’m not certain what you’re asking, or why,” Shaun replied.
“Don’t tell your bosses, but see if you can…I don’t know. Find out if he’s done this to anyone else.”
