Chapter 1: You Have Died

Welcome to a new fan-fiction!

I've been wanting to try out another multiverse fan-fiction for quite some time.

And no, this is not a translation.

Enjoy these first set of chapters! It's all content, not repeated words to appear on ranking :)

If you enjoy it, drop some power stones and leave a review and comment!

Details of worlds are both in synopsis and these prologue chapters.

For those wondering about my DBZ Fanfic, I have ported over to Pa Treon. I want to split it into individual posts before resuming posting on it.

If you enjoy this story, please add it to your collection, drop some power stones, leave a comment and review!

[You have died.]

As I regained consciousness, I soon found myself in a white room of sorts with a simple table located in the background and a cup of tea currently placed on it. This white space seemed to stretch on infinitely without end. The first thing that came into view was a blue holographic panel, containing these words that are present before me.

I didn't appear to be alone either, I could see a rather aged old man donning a simple white robe currently in a seiza position, knees bending all the way downward with his head protruding out toward my direction.

Ignoring this weird old man, my attention was currently drawn toward this holographic panel. I tried to recall what happened to place me in this room, but for some reason those memories won't surface. Still, the language presented before me was Japanese, so was I a Japanese person before arriving here?

"I am guessing this ain't some kind of sick joke.", I said, still staring at the screen before me.

"I am afraid not, Mr. Takakura. You have, unfortunately, died. I tried presenting your death in a way that you would come to terms with it, after going through your memories. You seem quite accepting of it, to which I am grateful.", The old man replied to me.

"Death, huh? Didn't think such a thing would come at me so soon. That's what you get trying to meddle with other people I guess. It's strange though, I can't seem to recall how I died.", I said. It's not like I was a ghost in this place either, my body was still intact, or I guess, perhaps this is my soul now?

"That would be correct, Mr. Takakura.", The old man replied, appearing to have answered my thought.

"Did you just read my mind?", I said, squinting my eyes at the old man.

"Sorry, it was mostly out of habit. Still, It was my carelessness that brought you here after all.", The old man said, scratching his cheek as he shifted his position to sit on his knees.

"So you're saying me dying was your fault.", I retorted the old man. I could likely guess who this old man is now. After all, various iterations of him often appear in those trashy light novels. Well, maybe I won't call them trash. I guess I got the same treatment, heh.

"Yes. You were just on your way to your entrance ceremony at Tokyo University.", God said, starting to explain what had happened prior to my soul coming here.

"During your commute you happened to brush past the daughter of the leading pharmaceutical conglomerate, the Sairenji Corporation. Your position at the time saved her from a scuffle with thugs that were in pursuit, but it was my carelessness that led you falling down onto the tracks. You didn't even last a hair's breadth before the incoming train took your life.", The old man continued, explaining what had happened to me. "And in my brief lapse of watching it, I accidentally sneezed, which caused enough wind to knock your body more than what should have happened. I really am sorry about this.", God said, finishing his explanation while clapping his hands together with an apologetic look in his eyes.

I turned dead quiet for a good moment, trying to register what God had just said to me.

"Did I just hear that right?", I asked as a mark of anger began to appear on my forehead. "I died from a sneeze?", I yelled out, not out of anger but out of the carelessness of this old man. Seeing me yell out like this, I saw God get on his knees again and bowed my way.

"I truly am sorry about this. I took this time to directly apologize to you alright? But what's been done can't be done. It is a fact that you have died, regardless of it being my mistake or not. That is why I brought you into this space instead of letting your soul directly pass on into heaven.", The old man answered in a polite tone.

Seeing God profusely apologize, it's not like I could refuse such a gesture. It was God after all. In the end, I could only let out a defeated sigh.

"I accept the gesture at least. I always figured Heaven existed, regardless of how it's depicted in our society. I'm guessing there is Hell too.", I said, regaining my composure. Seeing me not lash out at the old man, his expression softened, and he returned to sitting on his knees again.

"Thank you. Your soul is more accepting than others that I have brought here in the past.", The old man said. "And it is as you guessed, I'm God, or at least one of the Gods. I govern the aspect of life and death, and judge souls based off of their karma, and send them to Heaven or Hell respectively upon death. If anything is accidental like yourself, they are typically brought here. Depending on their karma, they may get a second chance at life.", The old man said, explaining the situation to me.

"That definitely explains a lot. And seeing that Sairenji girl was an important figure to society, I'm guessing I racked up quite a bit of karma. I would consider myself to be a contributor to society too, I didn't lack money nor a relationship. Just a bit of a shame I won't be able to continue that life. The name of that girl sounds familiar too...", I uttered.

"Hoho, your body is quite clear of sin, might I add. It's quite the competition to enter one of Japan's leading universities too. As to why your body is struggling to recall certain memories, the act of dying places immense stress on the body, and it locks certain parts down. Consider it a security feature of the brain. I could force those memories directly into your soul now. But it would be equivalent to dying again. Would you be up for it?", God asked me with growing interest in his eyes.

"Hah, do I seem the type to enjoy the sensation of dying twice? Hell no.", I immediately retorted God, denying him. Hearing me immediately deny him caused God to chuckle.

"Not many do. There are weirdos out there, I'm just glad you're one of the more sensible souls, Mr. Takakura. Now, let us get onto business, shall we?", God asked me.

Seeing me in a more calm state now, God took this time to stand up. His stature soon towered over me, despite having a rather slim body. He seemed taller than most humans, or perhaps it was a misconception of the eyes, seeing as I was a little ball of light now. My "body" still tried to move and do gestures as if I still had one.

"What business is there? Don't tell me you're giving me more than one option here. Wouldn't I just pass on directly into Heaven?", I said, revealing a grin as I observed the old man before me.

"That is definitely one option you can take, Mr. Takakura.", God began to explain, before continuing. As he began to speak more and more, my interest grew.

"While I took the time to bring your soul here, you were already judged. You were quite the exceptional man, with no accrued sin. Thanks to saving that girl, your karma shot up even higher. That alone would place you at the upper echelons of Heaven, should you decide to pass on. However, your soul reached the karmic threshold to where a second option is given to souls to experience something different.", God continued, smiling as he did.

"Experience something different? If I had to take a guess, I'm guessing that it is reincarnation.", I asked, causing God to nod his head and rub his long, white beard.

"Indeed, it is that reincarnation. Reincarnation comes in various degrees. Depending on one's karmic value, more options are presented to them. The most common one is Transmigration, where one's soul either gets directly placed into a new world with their same body, or they take over a person's body, either taking over their soul, or merging with it.", God explained.

"I see. Reincarnation must be at the top of the chain then, considering one gets a brand new body, essentially starting over from scratch.", I said, adding to God's explanation of how the cycle of reincarnation works. It seemed the concept was real after all, and it looks like if I decide to choose so, God will be giving me a second chance at life.

"Indeed it is as you say, Mr. Takakura. To sum up, the first option is to pass on to Heaven, enjoying a nice afterlife there. Second, you can choose what style of reincarnation you would like to be transported into a world of your choosing, thanks to your current karmic value. It would be a singular world, and it can be anything you want it to be, a world of swords and magic, one from the comics, an anime world, a video game world, you name it.", God said, drawing my interest again.

"Anything I can choose huh? I like the sound of that. I read in a lot of stories that God gives wishes to those souls as well to power them up from the get-go. Is that something you do?", I decided to ask.

"Depends on the world, actually, and one's karmic value. It all depends on one's karma.", God simply explained to me, before continuing his explanation.

"To put that into perspective, let's take the world of Naruto for example. If a soul had a simple karmic value, they could opt to transmigrate into the body of a dead ninja, granting them one chakra alignment. If a soul had moderate karmic value, they could choose what clan to reincarnate into, and receive more than one chakra path. If it was complex, they could even get the Rinnegan, and a system to go along with it. Does that make sense?", God asked me.

"That does, actually. I'm guessing it's more of a give and take. The more karma you've accumulated, the more you are awarded with.", I said, nodding my head. My interest was growing more and more as I continued to hear God speak.

"Exactly. Before you make your decision, Mr. Takakura, I do have one more thing to point out. It isn't something you have to take, but it's more of a trial feature if anything, thanks to a certain someone.", God said, rubbing his white beard again.

"Are you telling me there's something else on top of all of this?", I asked with interest.

"Hoho, there sure is. It's still in its testing phase, but some souls have already opted to choose this third option. It is available for those who are indecisive, or those who are wishing to try out something completely new and unknown to them. And with your current karmic value, I can guarantee you won't struggle early on. At least not until the stories begin.", God said, letting a smile bloom on his face.

"I don't like the sound of that...", I immediately retorted, glancing my eyes at him. "And what do you mean by 'stories'? Are you implying there's more than one story or world implanting with this third option you're suggesting to me?", I asked, doubt appearing in my eyes as I did.
