Phoenix and Toxin
As Zeir and Sirin flew above Elytreea, approaching Phoenix's lair, Zeir could glimpse more and more of his former comrades. He imagined them snickering down below, but long gone were the days he cared about that. His fellow creatures had always laughed behind his back.
Arriving at a mountain's peak revealed a magnificent light show in the sky. In the clouds, green and yellow flashes danced. As Zeir saw Phoenix's flames, a wave of homesickness swept through him.
In the middle of a valley, right before the leader's lair, two massive beasts hovered over the trees. Their wings swished through the air like paddle wheels on the water when they charged one another.
It was not hard for Zeir to recognize one of those flying creatures. Phoenix descended upon the battlefield in an arc, igniting everything beneath its wings with celestial flames coming from its body.
"Who is the challenger?" Zeir asked, turning to the multicolored bird.
