Modifying a Relic

"Took you long enough"

Adam spoke out, opening his eyes to look out the figure that entered the room that housed the Relic

A small smile was present on his face, his back still leaning against the wall

"Ehe~ Sorry, I fought against someone unexpected"

The figure who entered the room, Rimuru, spoke out sheepishly as she scratched the back of her head

"That so?"

The silver-haired boy raised an eyebrow at her, but he was too lazy to ask any more questions

….

He stayed in this world for far too long.

To be honest, Adam should have instantly gone to Salem and wiped her out, stealing the Relics afterward

Unfortunately…. She was immortal, and he had no way of dealing with her for good

He didn't have the time to develop the Power of Destruction to a high enough level to destroy the Queen of Grimm's soul, and neither could he swallow her with [Gluttony] as she was strong enough to resist

….

"Uh…"

Rimuru sensed his lazy and impatient attitude, so she didn't dwell on this subject for long

"Where is Rias…?"

The slime girl's eyebrows rose as she scanned the room around her

"Oh hi, Sakura and little fox girl! How are you doing?"

She smiled, waving her hand at the other two people in the room

"Rimuru-sama"

Sakura nodded in a show of respect

As for Higokumaru-

"Hey! Who are you calling a little fox girl!?"

RIN shouted out, hands on her hips as she glared at the slime

"Hehe…."

The blue slime chuckled, not responding to the little guy's provocation

"So, have you two seen them?"

She asked once again

"I have not seen the red-haired girl"

The Shrine Maiden dully shook her head

As for her companion-

"Ah…. I have not seen that big sister!"

Her response was normal, though there was a strange emphasis on the word big

Actually asking wasn't needed for Rimuru as [Magic sense] had already mapped this place, but she still did it

Who knows? Maybe the busty devil suddenly developed special abilities to hide from her perception

"I would ask you the same thing…." His eyes strayed to the door "But it is obvious you didn't meet on the battlefield"

"Yup!"

The blue-haired girl exclaimed went towards the Relic of Creation with skipping steps

"So this is the Relic of Creation?"

Rimuru leaned forward, examining the staff in front of her with shining eyes

"...."

Feeling a gaze on him, Adam turned towards a certain direction

Only-

He found Sakura and Higokumaru looking at him with a weird gaze, a confused light within their eyes

- As if they were saying 'Is that it?', 'Is this the companion who can take the Relic safely?'

The silver-haired boy shrugged at them, crossing his hands over his chest once again as he closed his eyes for one more time

Everything will depend on Rimuru, and whether she utilizes what she has at her disposal to its fullest potential

..

.

Rimuru Tempest looked at the relic in front of her

She extended her hand, her fingers just inches away from the Relic of Creation.

The golden staff glowed faintly, humming with an otherworldly power that made the air around it feel heavy.

For a moment, she hesitated, her eyes narrowing as she focused, letting her mind settle.

'[Great Sage]….'

She called internally, simply contacting her companion as it already knew what she wanted

[Understood. Beginning analysis of the Relic of Creation.]

There was a brief silence as the calculations began to unfold inside Rimuru's mind.

In a matter of seconds, [Great Sage] spoke again.

[The Relic is a divine construct, but its purpose is simple: manipulation of matter and energy on a grand scale. Normally, permission from the entity within the Relic is required for its use]

"Figures…."

She muttered under her breath, not surprised at this analysis

Adam's lazy form caught her attention briefly as she glanced over her shoulder.

The silver-haired boy had his eyes closed again, but there was a subtle tension in his posture.

Even though he acted indifferent, she knew he was waiting for her to pull off something big.

Of course, she won't disappoint him!

She turned back to the staff, her hand hovering for another moment.

"Well…." She shrugged, "Let's get to work!"

With a swift motion, she closed her hand around the Relic.

The instant she touched it, she felt the overwhelming surge of power contained within it, as if omnipotence was in her grasp.

For most beings, it would have been too much to handle. But Rimuru was not most beings.

She knew this was but an illusion. The Relic was very limited in what it could, but its power was indeed useful

In one smooth motion, she brought the Relic close to her lips

And-

An abyssal vortex came out of her mouth, consuming it

[Commencing integration. Analyzing structure... success.]

The Relic disappeared into her body, its energy swirling within her like a storm, but she quickly stabilized it.

Rimuru's aura flared briefly, her body glowing as she redirected the power.

She felt the overwhelming pressure of keeping Atlas afloat settle onto her, but she poured her own energy into the process, holding the massive floating city in place for the time being.

Adam's eyes flickered open, his lazy demeanor breaking for just a moment as he observed Rimuru in action.

He watched the blue-haired girl with curiosity, though he wasn't about to voice it.

Sakura and Higokumaru stared, equally unsure of what to expect.

She smiled to herself, confident in what came next.

"Now for the fun part!"

She tapped into her [Gluttony] skill, letting her body process the divine essence of the Relic.

Using the sub-skill of her unique ability, she began creating a replica—an exact copy of the Relic of Creation.

But it wasn't enough to simply recreate it.

She needed it to serve a different purpose. That's where her newly acquired power came into play

[Modify: The authority of a Creator God. Though represented as a mere semblance, there is no denying that this ability is worthy of being the representation of the soul

Allows one to change the properties and attributes of items. Though it consumes a lot of energy, and the item must first be analyzed and understood]

"[Modify]."

The replica of the Relic began to shift in form.

She altered its internal structure, weaving its energy to match the needs of Atlas.

The new version wouldn't be able to create or destroy on the same scale, but it would provide the energy required to keep Atlas afloat for decades, if not longer.

With careful precision, the slime ensured the replica would last far beyond what anyone could have predicted.

"That should do it!"

Rimuru exclaimed, holding the now-modified staff in her hand.

She turned around, waving the new Relic at Adam with a cheeky grin.

"See? Easy peasy!"

Adam raised an eyebrow but didn't comment.

His eyes trailed to the staff, a faint hint of approval flashing in his expression before he closed his eyes once again, leaning back against the wall.

"Took you long enough."

He repeated his previous words, but they now held a different meaning

The blue-haired slime rolled her eyes at his attitude but chose to ignore it.

Instead, she tossed the replica onto the pedestal where the original Relic had stood.

The room didn't so much as flicker—the energy-sustaining Atlas had already transferred seamlessly to the replica.

"Alright!" Rimuru stretched her arms above her head. "Now that's done, let's get going. I've got a certain red-haired devil to find."

Just as she began walking toward the exit-

"Wait a minute! You really just ate the thing!?"

Higokumaru hopped in front of her in the air, hands on her hips.

"Hehe, yup!" Rimuru said, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Wow!"

The little fox girl brought her arms forward, stars shining in her eyes as if she were an anime character

"You have succeeded"

Sakura merely nodded calmly, her eyes still lingering on the pedestal where the new Relic rested.

"That's what I do!"

Rimuru cheerfully replied as she gave her a light pat on the shoulder.

"So…." She started, turning her gaze to Adam "...Are we moving, or are you going to keep napping?"

"...."

Adam's eyebrows faintly twitched

Opening one eye lazily, he looked at the three people present

"Nah, let's wait for her"

"Eh…? Okay then…."

The blue-haired girl shrugged her shoulders in response

Higokumaru and Sakura naturally had no objection to his decision

A/N:

School sucks.

But there's something wrong.... I can feel it.....

For some reason, I have been feeling really good lately

Going outside, meeting old acquaintances, and just socializing in school.... Never though I'd enjoy that as much

Who would have thought that getting outside the house to touch grass every day would make your daily life more enjoyable?

So, go touch grass and bask in the sun, kids. It will do you good

Power stones are heavy, and I am quite strong, so I can carry them.
