6. HER FATHER

Everything around her morphed into another place entirely and her gaze stayed glued to a tall being who had his eyes on her as well.

Tears welled up in Fortune's eyes at the sight of her beloved. She couldn't contain her joy of seeing him so she ran up to him and engulfed him in a loving hug.

He had long curly black hair and as always, he let it down. As for his skin, it was slightly pale and his eyes were gray just like hers.

When Fortune was little, she had black curly hair with the middle of the front section colored in gray. She was born that way.

Her surrogate human mother had gray hair and eyes but brown skin.

However, something strange had happened to Fortune when her grandmother, which was Reginald's mother, died.

Her grandmother's hair turned white whenever she touched her powers but on the line, it remained white. And the day she died, Fortune's hair turned completely white but from time to time it would switch to gray, so no one actually knew the right color of her hair.

"I thought you left me. What happened to you Adam?" She pulled away and tilted her head backward so she could get a clearer view of him since he was tall.

His hollow gray eyes stared down at her and he slowly tilted his head to the side like he was clueless of what she was talking about.

"Are you alright, Fortune? I've been trying to reach you," he said instead as he cupped her face.

"Were you? I waited…I waited for you…" she sobbed and he embraced her tightly to himself.

"I'm sorry…I'm here now…honestly, I tried to reach you but it seemed like your father was keeping me away from you. I wanted to see you because I knew you would be devastated." He explained and it caused Fortune to weep more.

"I needed you Adam…I needed you…" she sobbed.

"I'm sorry," he apologized and planted a loving kiss on top of her head.

Feeling the need to look at his face, she pulled away and looked up at him. He was still him, her dear Adam.

And like a loving man, he smoothened the sides of her hair and leaned in to kiss her forehead. His actions made her shut her eyes as she savored the feel of his lips on her forehead.

"I heard our baby was lost in the accident," he said and she nodded in tears.

"I'm sorry…I don't know what happened but I seemed to have teleported out of there unintentionally…it was strange and I was frustrated when I got information that you nearly died…I'm sorry for not being there with you."

Fortune felt many emotions at once but the one she felt more was the overflowing love she had for the man before her.

Even though it wasn't his fault, he kept apologizing on and on and it made her heart melt.

"I miss you Adam…I felt miserable without you."

She tiptoed and to make things easier for her, he leaned in because he sensed that she wanted to kiss him.

Unfortunately, before their lips could collide, Fortune was suddenly pulled out of her tranced state and she found herself back in the plane with her father who looked like he would blow up in anger.

"In my presence, you chose to accept the invite to speak to that demon when I was not done talking to you," he glared at her.

There was so much displeasure and disappointment in his eyes.

"You outrightly disrespected me by doing that Fortune and I'm very cross with you."

Still trying to understand what just happened, her eyes widened when she realized what her father did. He was the one who pulled her out of her tranced state.

"If you hadn't stopped me from being with Adam then I wouldn't have disrespected you! Why are you coming between us?" She snapped at him in anger and Reginald's brows smoothened and he remained silent for a very long time. The more they stared at each other, the more Fortune felt a chilliness in her bones.

Most times, if her father wanted to reprimand her for doing the wrong thing, he would use his powers on her and she hated when he did that.

When nothing happened, Fortune frowned.

"I think you should learn the hard way. I wash my hands off your love life…do what you want, I won't interfere anymore…you win, but don't say I didn't warn you," with that, he stood up and vanished from her presence.

Fortune blinked several times in surprise. He didn't use his powers on her, rather, he left her to herself. Did it mean he had teleport himself to his pack and refused to journey with her anymore?

Fortune's eyes widened slightly as she slowly stood up in shock.

Was she alone now? Did this mean he would no longer involve himself with her and Adam?

To be sure he was no longer in the airplane, she checked every room and truly he wasn't around.

Her father could easily teleport himself anywhere he wanted but he had chosen to take the normal transportation for her sake since she couldn't teleport.

But since she pissed him off and went past her limit, he decided to leave her alone.

"If I had known he would leave me for disrespecting him like that then I should've done it long ago," she said to herself with no sign of regret.

Now all alone, she gingerly went to the bar section and picked up a bottle of champagne to enjoy herself.

And like an angel, he materialized himself in his cousin's office and luckily, he was present.

Startled, Reginald's cousin jumped on seeing him in the room.

"You nearly frightened the poor soul out of me!" He said breathlessly with a hand placed to his chest to control his breathing.

"I have no time to waste Lewis," Reginald marched up to his cousin who stood beside a rack of books.

"What's the problem?" Lewis frowned as he shifted all his attention to him.

"My daughter is on her way here as I told you earlier and I want you to do something for me."

"Let me guess, you want me to keep a close eye on her." Lewis drawled.

"Of course not." Reginald said in irritation and it made Lewis arch an eyebrow at him in shock.

"No? Why? Did she do something to piss you off?"

Most of the members of the family knew how strong headed Fortune was. She refused to give Reginald breathing space right from when she was little.

"When she gets here, I want you to let her be. She doesn't know the gravity of the situation so let her learn the hard way."

"What did she do this time, Regi?" Lewis became extra curious. At his cousin's question, Reginald sighed heavily in exhaustion.

"She fell in love with one of Dracula's subjects."

"Which one?" Lewis probed with shock written all over his face.

"The demon of fear." Reginald answered and Lewis had to blink several times to register it in his mind.

"Didn't you say you sent all of them to hell? So how did he get out?"

"I'm guessing he used Fortune's dream to get out." Reginald answered.

"This isn't good. If he's here then there's a possibility he will release the others." Lewis paled at the thought.

"I don't think so. Last time, they couldn't release Aldinach…so it would be difficult."

"Let's hope so." Lewis sighed.
