“We need to get prepared for it..”
“We’ll fight with you Alpha.” The warriors of the salmon pack surrendered in submission to the Alpha With one knee on the ground.
“And this is my mate. I want y’all to accept her just the same way have accepted me. She would lead us. My mate, Amaia..”
I stepped forward and stood beside Zyair.
“Luna..” The wolf called.
I smiled and turned to stare at my father. He smiled back at me.
This was it. I would be leading the wolves in the fight against the moonlight pack. It was an opportunity for me to quench my taste to kill and I was gonna use it.
I had proven my worth during my fight with Franco. That had been what made them accept me without ease.
I had come up with the plan when he wanted to introduce me to the wolves because I knew it would cause misunderstanding and distrust. And there might be an uproar against the alpha. I told him, that if Franco who was the strongest warrior could defeat me in a fight I would leave the pack and as well leave Zyair. But if I was to win, they would compile everything I had to say to them.
That was how we’d begun with the wolves surrounding us and watching us.
*A day before*
I was heading out that night but stopped, the whole pack was surrounded by wolves, and the security around the borders was tightened more than it was before. There was no way any wolf could leave or move an inch from the pack house. But I was different. I’ve my way.
“..a wolf was killed.”
I hid myself to hear more about it.
“How come I didn’t hear about it?”
“The alpha didn’t want anyone to know, he felt bad it happened. It was a message sent to him.”
“Another pack?”
“It is.”
“It’s obvious then, we’re gonna fight soon.”
“We can’t let it go off. He didn’t seem he would. There might be worse that could happen.”
“Why did you say so?”
“Alpha behaved strangely today, for the first time, I saw those looks on his eyes.”
“What look?”
“Tired and weak.”
I followed the wolves quietly, so I didn’t get noticed.
“It’s because of the girl he’s been around with?”
“You know?”
“I saw them once, but I’ve never gotten to see her face. Is he ashamed of her, he won’t bring her out.”
“Maybe it could be something.. I hear something.”
They stopped walking and I did too. I’ve heard enough. So they knew about me. I thought I was quite hidden. Seems I’ve been wrong.
Zyair, What was wrong with him, I had noticed he behave that way too though he tried to hide it so I shouldn’t notice it. But I did.
I had to do something, I had to meet Carlos and complete the training. Because Zyair would need me in whatever is happening.
I held my dagger, I had to meet and probably threatened them to tell me which pack Carlos was. They would know since he was close to the Alpha.
I waited for the perfect time to strike.
And the perfect time was now.
It was two of them, I had gotten myself another dagger thanks to my father.
I jumped in front of them and had my two daggers on their throats. They hadn’t expected me, and I had been more calculating than they had been.
I smirked. I had the upper hand.
“If you don’t want me slitting your throats, you tell me where I can find Carlos and we’re good.”
“And should we ask why?”
“That isn’t supposed to be any of your concern. Talk.” I pushed the dagger further into their throat, leaving a slight cut.
Blood came out of it.
I smiled halfway.
“..it’s about two hours ride by horse.” The one by the left said.
“Horse?”
Wow, that was great. They would get me the horse then.
“Where’s the horse?”
They didn’t reply.
I don’t want to hurt them.
“You would take me there..”
“Even if we give you the horse you won’t be able to leave the pack.” The one by the right. He was rather grumpy.
“I can take care of that.”
None of them attempted to move, I didn’t want to do this but I’ve left with no choice. I was desperate just the way they were desperate to help their alpha.
I knew they were mind linking to attack me at once but they had no idea who they were dealing with. I had them figured out. Who would make the first attack?
And just as I had calculated the one by the right made the first attack my dagger was quick to give him a cut at all his joints.
The other wolf hesitated when he saw his partner on the ground and was unable to shift. I moved to him and he surrendered instantly.
Was this how they would protect their Alpha?
Weak things.
“Take me now!”
I roared.
I had the horse and I was running with it towards the border of the salmon pack. I send the wolves to Zyair. Before I get to the border he must have given them orders to let me off. And just as I had planned. I wasn’t stopped while I race out of the pack.
I had to meet Carlos. Complete the training and go back the pack and prove myself to the pack that I could be of help.
I raced for a long time before I saw the pack.
I came down from my horse.
“Are you Amaia?”
“Yes.”
“Come with me.”
I followed the wolf, who took my horse. It was such a nice pretty horse. I could ask for one once I was officially Luna.
“He’s waiting. But isn’t it too late for a lady to be out this night?”
I chuckled.
He should better mind his own business.
I smiled instead of the glare I wanted to give him and followed behind him quietly.
I met Carlos. And we exchanged a few greetings. This pack was the big one, bigger than salmon and his warriors, damn! Big, hugely muscular and they were no doubt strong. They’d been probably been practicing for years.
“He told me you were coming, I received a message. My bird is quite faster than you.”
He chuckled.
“I thought you were too tired to have any training today.”
“I need your help.” I gasped out.
“I need to go back to the Alpha stronger, you said you were gonna make me beat him. Help me now.”
He smiled and took my hand.
“Amaia, I’ll help you the best way I can.”
I spent a day in Carlos's pack. I was there alone in a room, my heart was there at the salmon pack. Longing for him. If he was fine and how he was doing.
I didn’t get a chance to take a tour. And my last night here, I was anxious because I would be going back home to meet him. Where he was, was my home.
“Are you ready?”
“Yes.”
“Zyair is already waiting. You better come visiting.”
I was on the horse.
“I would.”
And that was how I journey back home to salmon pack.
I knew everyone must’ve heard about what I did to the wolves, that’s why I had told the Alpha to set up a meeting with the wolves and my spar with Franco. Immediately I came back to the pack.
I had everyone seated and watch us fight, while I fight with my dagger, he would be in his wolf form.
And we sparred.
My victory against him was certain, he was wounded by me and likewise me. But I wounded him more because of my dagger. And I got the recognition I needed.
And my place as the Luna.
But something still wasn’t right with Zyair.
