Chapter 50

“You don’t care about me do you?”

His question got my head spun around to face him looking away from the physician who was dressing my wound. The wound I had sustained from fighting with Franco.

He was almost done with it, so he hastened up with the treatment.

“What do you mean?”

“You went out that night, not a fucking care how I would’ve felt if something happened to you.” His voice came out with a low growl.

I looked away from him, removing my hand from the physician’s grip.

“I’m almost done. You shouldn’t leave it without having it treated. It might get infected.”

“You should leave,” I uttered quietly.

“But..”

“You heard me. Leave.”

He sighed and stood up with the bag he came with. He bow and turned to walk out through the door.

I rolled down the sleeve to cover the wound. It stings as my finger mistakenly brushed past it.

He was standing facing the wall, his hands crossed at his back. He stood there till the physician left before he turned to face me. I met his hard gaze and averted my eyes. Staring at the hoodie that was beside me.

“Why did you do it, you don’t trust me to do you?”

“It’s not that!”

“It is!” He raised his voice at me. That made me turn to him and gawp at him.

He huffed and ruffled his hair.

“Wolves are out there looking for you, to kill you, what if something bad had happened? You didn’t think of me.”

“I could take care of myself.”

“Because you’re all it.”

I take up the hoodie and wore them, I would leave for my room.

“..you got into a fight with Franco. You didn’t let me handle it. I told you I was gonna take care of everything, I would do everything in my way. So you won’t get hurt. But what did you do?”

“So what if I did, you consented to it didn’t you?”

“After you’ve already called everyone attention! I would look like a fool.”

I bite my lower lip. I thought it would help. I wanted to handle it my way and have it done without him having to do anything.

“I know it’s one-sided but still I was ready to do anything for you. I go crazy just seeing you get hurt and then I had to watch you fight my Beta and saw him hurt you. You think it settles well with me! How could you!”

What should I say?

“Sorry. But I could handle it.”

“I know. I know you’re strong, I know you’re powerful but you seem to have forgotten it’s not just you anymore. I’m here too. But you don’t care.”

That was the last word he saw before he left the room for me. The eyes. I couldn’t get it off my head. He had never stared at me like that before.

My heart sunk.

I didn’t know about it because I had never put anyone into consideration before doing anything. I didn’t know my actions would affect him that way.

I sat down back on the bed, I should leave too. He was the one who had brought me here and now he left me here. I said I was gonna find out what’s wrong with him maybe it was my fault. Whatever was happening to me was my fault.

I was certain about it.

“..disadvantage of having a strong mate,” Creamy said by the door. I hadn’t noticed he came in. The door was opened because he didn’t shut it when he walked out.

“How is that a disadvantage?”

“You’re strong, he’s too. He wants to protect you but there’s no chance to. The chance he had. You stole it because you could handle it and there’s nothing he could do.”

“I don’t want him to do anything for me.”

“But he’s your mate. You two have become one. You’re not alone anymore, that’s what you’ve been forgetting.”

“I would get some rest.”

I stood up. I should leave.

“You should let him in, if you won’t don’t let him be. You’re hurting him.”

I stopped walking when I was close to him. With my hands tucked in my hoodie pocket and stare at him.

“Hurt him?”

I questioned.

He returned my gaze.

“You won’t know would you?”

He ambled past him. But I won’t let him off after what he said to me. I pulled him back by the arm.

“What do you mean, am I a burden?”

“Never said you were.”

“Then What are you hiding from me.”

He pulled my hand away from his and faced me with a blank look.

“Nothing you should worry about.”

“But you’ve already got me worried. I overheard you guys talking.”

“I don’t have much to say to you. But know I won’t let you off if anything happens to him.”

Just the way he left, Creamy left as well. I was all alone as well.

I walked out. And shut the door behind me. Outside the door I met father, he was probably coming to see him. His eyes lit up when he saw me and hasten up to meet me. I force a smile.

“My dear. Are you okay?”

He hugged me.

Just what I wanted.

Sniffing as my hand went around his body.

“Why did you do something so risky?”

“I thought I could help.” I cried.

“Oh, dear.” He lamented.

I hugged him tightly.

“Don’t be too hard on yourself. You did what you had to. You should have some rest. You haven’t rested since you got back.”

We disengaged and he held my hand and lead me. Touching his hand, I felt like eight years old. How we held hands each night taking a walk around Novak forest early mornings and evenings.

The memories brought a smile to my face.

“You think I would do well, father?”

“You’ve always done well Amaia and you would do just fine.”

His smile.

Even if anyone else was against me. He was the only one I was sure of, that he would always be right beside me.

“What should I do father?”

“Follow your heart.”

“That’s what you’ve been telling me.”

I lay my head on his arm as we walked toward my room. I don’t want to lose him, even if anything else. I want him to stay with me.

Forever

But it seems that was too much to ask.
