“I’ll send Evelynn here as much as I can,” Dr. Huntr turned to her suddenly, his eyes gleaming. “She can bring some board games and books, things for you both to pass the time. She may help deter Theodore’s more violent tendencies as well since he considers her a possession. Okay, let’s see those knees.”
Jayde shakily lifted the skirt of the ugly green dress to rest on her thighs. Dr. Huntr frowned and sat on his haunches as he prodded both knees. He hit a very tender spot and she hissed, jerking away.
“I don’t like the look of your knees, Jayde,” he pulled her leg back to him, carefully turning it to the side to inspect the stitches he had made to put her torn skin back together. “There’s no infection that I can see or feel, just a lot of fluid buildup. I’m going to have Eve bring you some antibiotics just in case, and some pain reliever. She’ll have to bring them to you everyday, as we’ve been ordered not to give you a full bottle of any type of medication.”
