The Gods

I opened my eyes to a world of light and before me was a massive table with twelve individuals.

"Welcome our young one." They did not speak yet I heard their voices simultaneously throughout the air.

"We are the twelve gods of the twelve realms. It has come time for you to pick one of us to choose you." The voices said as they grew quieter.

"What's even going on." I said looking at them as the walls behind them changed.

"Walk before each of us and see our realms and learn from them before making your choice."

I walked forward as the I approached the old man with white robes on the far right side.

"Hello young man. I am the god of purity. I will grant you the power to heal any sickness and injury. To light the darkest of places even in the void itself." The old god said kindly looking at me.

"I would like to listen to everyone's before making my choice sir." I said kindly as he bowed his head slightly.

I walked to the next one who had red robes and wore a golden crown.

"I am the god of flames and war. Through my power you can conquer any enemy before through your skills of weapons and flames from hell."

I went down each time listening to what they said.

"I am the god of storms and seas. Bring lighting upon your enemy's and drag their ships to the bottom of the depths."

"I am the god of engineering. Create things this world has never known and make profits to live a life of peace or war."

"I am the god of shadows. Leave no trace of yourself in this world and bring your enemies down from the shadows."

"I am the god of life. Raise the armies of the past to fight for you. Tame the most violent of creatures and beasts."

"I am the god of winter. The ice will obey your every command and even flames shall be put out from a flick of your wrist."

"I am the god of plagues. Spread death and balance to the world with a wave of your army."

"I am the god of knowledge. Learn anything from magic to how the world was formed."

"I am the god of games. You will will win any bet you set through the spells I will teach to you."

I stopped and turned around feeling something I remembered. I walked down from the platform feeling the gods look upon me as I walked to a single door in the blank white room.

"Where did that door come from."

"Stop him."

The gods yelled as I walked calmly for some reason towards the door.

"You must choose."

At that I stopped and turned my head over looking at the gods standing up in worry and shock.

"Why. Something doesn't feel right about this. I know I'm not normal. I also know that no illusion the twelve demons of hell cast on me can trick me for long." I said and their bodies started to change and change into creatures of horror.

The room started to have flames form and the once blank white place now gave way to a world of flames and charred trees. The place gave off death and evil not matter where you looked. The table they had sat behind was made of bones and the chairs they sat on became thrones.

As I tried to look away I found my gaze stuck on them as a figure vanished from the table and came before me.

"Just choose one of us." He said as his body bleed all over and bones stuck out awkwardly with spots of flesh coming up.

"How did you know." One of the demons growled towards me as they walked towards me.

"I don't know. But something from my past tells me to leave. I also know the gods would never show themselves to a murder and robber like me." I said taking another step towards the simple white wooden door.

"No. Kill him." The demon said as a spear of flames launched towards me.

My eye lit up with golden lights and I place my hand before the spear and it crumbled to dust as it touched my hand. the boy Artemis looked at all the demons who stood in fear looked back at him. They seemed to genuinely fear him all of a sudden.

"Leave this boy alone. I am him and he is me. If you try anything like this again you shall burn in the true flames of creation." The boy said, but it wasn't him at the same time as his eyes stopped glowing.

"What happened. Know what I'm just going to leave." I said raising my hand in a good bye way opening the door.

The room warped into the space filed with stars. The galaxy all around me and as I stood at its center. The book still floated in the same spot yet something felt different. I could feel my power changing ever so slightly and the space itself doing the same. The stars became galaxies all around me and warped into me. I felt so much power for a few seconds as they exploded from all over me back out into the void.

This place. It's mine down to ever pierce of its creation. But who am I. No that wrong. It's not who I am really as it is what I am. The twelve demons of hell standing together looked at me with fear. If they were that afraid of me then what could cause them to be like that.

I looked around me as two more books formed with cover glowing blue and green as the space itself seemed to accept me in it. Whoever and whatever I was I was still Artemis. I must never forget who I am.

"For this is my domain, and I belong here. I know that much now."
