But it appeared she had said the wrong thing as tears started to silently glide down Flint's checks.
Ulanni flared her hands not knowing what to do. "Hey, hey, you don't have to cry…" Ulanni comforted.
Flint felt embarrassed crying like this. 'If her father were here he would scowl his face at her.'
Flint thought trying to get herself to stop crying, but this just seemed to make the tears drop faster and worsen the situation as she started hiccupping.
"You should probably let it all out," Ulanni whispered as she ran her hand through Flint's hair.
Flint desperately tried to stop the flowing tears as she used her hand and fingers to dab at her eyes.
This effort just made her whole face wet and messy, she disregarded her image and pulled up her gown to thoroughly wipe all traces of tears from her face.
By now her face was bright red in embarrassment and she didn't even have enough courage to look Ulanni in the face, she just kept her face strained on her fingers.
"You know, you don't have to always be strong. Strong people always have their weak moments so it's alright if you are weak once in a while."
Ulanni spoke softly and compellingly as she stroked Flint's thick dark mane.
Flint was going to turn and face Ulanni because she didn't believe that Ulanni was the one talking with such wisdom.
But before she could turn around she heard Ulanni's melodious voice say to her. "Now, now you must go to sleep as you have been through a lot today."
Flint tried to keep her eyes open, but it seemed like the more she tried to prey her eyes open, the stronger the pull of dreamland was.
Flint felt her body relax and thought 'Mabey I should rest…I feel tired_' And at that thought she felt her mind suddenly become fuzzy and before long her breathing stabilized. She was asleep.
'Sleep daughter of Akalikis and when you rise again you shall feel his blessings again…'
Those words floated in the air and seemed to hover around Flint's body which was leaning against Sarah.
Flint's hair gave out a soft green glimmer before it floated to settle at her nape before disappearing out of sight.
Ulanni kept stroking Flint's hair even though she was now asleep. She slowly raised her hand from Flint's hair and she brought it to settle in her lap.
She veered her head around to take in her surroundings.
'Blood!'
A whisper that was almost inaudible to the children in the compartment bounced from one wall of the metal to the other before slowly vanishing.
Ulanni's eyes flashed blue for some seconds before they retreated to their usually murky color.
She let out a loud yawn, before slowly bending down to crawl back into the cocoon Sarah had created with her body.
At the very end of the compartment, laying down like most of the other injured sleeping children was a girl who snapped her eyes open, with her reptile green eyes peering into the darkness. Her features were somewhat concealed by how gloomy the compartment was.
But that didn't quell her glittering green eyes from sparkling. With darkness dancing in its depth.
She gazed in a particular direction without blinking before letting out a small smile that seemed to mock the gloomy night as it caressed her features. She snapped her eyes back close.
A quiet that was deafening, unavoidable nothingness drowned the sleeping children.
Back in the driver's cockpit. Sage finally had a break. She had annihilated all the surrounding monsters and the spots on the map had drastically reduced from its previous population.
"Ahh! My thumb is so sore!" Sage whined as she tapped on the projection.
The view of the children back at the compartments came into view. The first compartment was in an even better condition than the first.
This was probably due to the fact that they occupied the bottom floor, they wouldn't take the full effect of any hit to the Mobile as the second compartment atop was weighing it down.
"We will be leaving the Lava Mountain behind soon," Kabe informed Sage as he stared at the map while tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
Sage removed her eyes from the projector and gazed at the map. Just in front, where the Life Line ended was a place that was free from the red light that the Lava Mountain gave off on the map.
"Well, at least in the next few hours we will be out of this shit hole!" Sage spat out as she resumed scanning the projector for something.
Her eyes glazed over the projection of the other children and it was easy for her to spot who was dead and who was alive from the way they laid to sleep.
She wouldn't lie, the situation at the second compartment was worse than she would have expected and it worried her because one, bringing injured children along on a journey like this was risky.
And two, she wasn't sure they had enough medical materials to treat them and she also had zero knowledge in things like this.
Just looking at their tired hungry faces she felt a prang of pain. 'Well, when we arrive at Mountain High City we all can make a stop to feed. Sage thought.
She turned her attention to the second compartment and looked around searchingly for a group of people.
She found what she was looking for, those groups of girls, the leader, and the other two.
'Hmmm, at least they are all right. Just some bruises' Sage thought as she squeezed her eyes shut and revealed the slightly peppery feeling she experienced as she had kept her eyes open for too long without blinking.
The Mussel Mobile drove on in the silence of the dark night, void of noise.
Kabe and Sage didn't have the opportunity of getting any rest as they had to be on high alert for any incoming signs of danger.
I stopped getting views and collections long ago but guess what!! I would keep writing!!
