Ron was the first to step foot on the ice. There were loud explosions from behind and loud rumblings from the sky. But much as he wanted to look back, he couldn't because the extremely thin ice would break and that would slow them down. The cold air spread on his face with his chest pushed forward as they all tried to outrun whatever Thor was fighting. Running wasn't a problem because he was physically well built and loved running. Now that he had superpowers, it was a different case, he was faster and so agile that he wasn't slipping on the ice.
Nathan and Ellen were an arm's distance behind him also running. A shadow of a winged creature crossed on the ice. They were being followed by something. Something they couldn't stop at to see. The end of the lake was miles away and the ice was now growing impatient as hairline cracks started to grow right under their feet.
Ron's foot suddenly stomped the ice and the whole thing shattered like glass and was about to fall through if Nathan didn't catch him first.
They stopped for a bit, and Ron was able to see what was happening behind. A huge gray cloud had covered the entire forest and sparks of lightning continuously flickered from within with each flash could see a man's shadow fighting in the background.
The winged creature's wings hovered through the air.
It had the body of a lion and the head of an eagle. I was circling them the same way an eagle circled its prey. Its brown eye was fixed on Ellen.
Ellen saw the creature and immediately knew that this was her brother's doing, she put out her palm and the beast stared at her like it was so sure that she was its master. It flew down and landed on the ice. And then spread its majestic feathered wings.
Without wasting any time. Ellen quickly climbed on it its back and put out her hand to help Ron up.
Ron had seen these creatures in movies and picture stories. this was a griffin. His fantasies were coming to life bit by bit. He then grabbed her hand with excitement, then she pulled him onto the creature's back. To his surprise, the back was all warm and soft.
Nathan was unsure if he should get on. He had a shameful fear of winged horses, was this similar?
"Nathan!" Ellen shouted at him. "We need to go, or else the ice you are standing on will surely shatter in the next couple of seconds," she pointed at the growing cracks that were growing right under his feet, and then she offered her hand. She was right, it was only a few seconds. He had to get his shit together or else he would die from this place.
He shut his eyes for a second, then forced them open. He sighed, then accepted her hand and then pulled him onto the creature with him being behind Ron.
"Okay guys, strap in."
Ellen held tight to the small fur she could reach and the giant griffin started by running forward and then set out its wings before it could set off
And just when the griffin had just left the ice, the ice suddenly popped open and a huge fish monster jumped out with its mouth wide open to swallow them. Lucky for them, the griffin was fast enough to fly out of the way, but at the cost of dropping Ron and Nathan.
They went down, fell, and crashed through the ice and into the cold water.
Ron was out for a second but woke up when Nathan pulled him on his arm. The hole they had made in the ice was gone, the entire place was dark and it was hard to swim. The water felt thick like swimming through peanut butter. The weird part was that he was holding his breath.
"It's okay, you can breathe," Nathan spoke,
Ron gasped inhaling a huge chunk of air, then exhaled. The water felt like fresh air as it ran through his nostrils.
"How?" Ron muttered
"Godslayers are designed with the abilities that enable them to fight the gods, and one of those abilities includes adapting to conditions such as this," he gestured
Ron's eyes widened from amusement. It felt like he was flying.
~something warped through the waters that alerted the two~ Ron whirled his head after hearing the vibrations. "The creature that has just attacked us."
"It's still here," Nathan finished the sentence for him. His crystal quickly glowed and turned into a sword.
"Um…do you think we can fight this thing without magic?" Ron asked with concern after seeing Nathan grab his sword.
"This sword is magic, this time, more effective," Nathan answered,
The monster snarled loudly, and thanks to Nathan's glowing sword they could now see it. It had a fish head with its lower body resembling that of a merman. It was the size of a submarine, with shark-like teeth popping out of its mouth.
It advanced with its mouth open to swallow Nathan and Ron, but he pushed Ron behind, then also attacked swimming at the speed of a torpedo, he turned out of the way and then landed on its back, pressed in his sword then swam with the sword intact hence tearing through its flesh using the strength he had.
Ron also summoned his sword. "Put on the ring, you will need it." Thera's voice spoke. And the ring appeared around his finger.
"I don't know how…"
"Go help him,"
He swam heading for the monster, the water felt lie it was now pushing him because his body was cutting through the current like it was nothing. He put his sword forward with its pointed edge being the head.~ he cut off the fish's hand and the water turned red when its blood sprouted out and it snarled miserably. It turned its attention away from Nathan to Ron, who had just cut off its arm.
"Oh shit," Ron immediately regretted what he had just done. The monster controlled the water and the pressure that was helping them to swim at light speed now started to push them down to the very depths.
The creature slammed him with its tall and he went down and crashed at the bottom, which didn't hurt that much, but the creature's tail had mucus that had now been spread all over him.
"This thing is a kanju! Be cautious of its attacks," Nathan yelled from up. Then hit the monster with a light beam from his sword to distract it. The monster then made a twister that sucked in Nathan then threw him to the other end of the ground through a pile of rocks.
No!" Ron stood up, and held up his sword, clutching the sword's handle. He sprinted forwards and the monster advanced, it used the water to push him off balance and then opened its mouth to swallow him whole, but he swam out of the way and then attacked by punching it in the back exactly where Nathan had pressed his sword in.
It used the water to throw him off its back and onto the ground. Then pinned him by placing its giant hand over his body using all its strength to hold him down
From above the ice. Ellen jumped off her griffin and then prepared her quiver of magic arrows. She grabbed a red-feathered arrow and drew out her ordinary bow. She closed her silver-colored eyes and when she opened them, they were now red, she started to see through the ice till she was able to see the monster.
She concentrated and took in a deep breath the fired the arrow once she exhaled. The arrow shattered the glass and went flying through the thick waters and straight into the monster's eye.
The ground, she was standing on started to shake after doing that, followed by a sudden shatter of the ice that was around her. That meant that this monster must have been some kind of guard that stopped intruders who were trying to get to Niflheim. And means that it can control the ice and water.
That gave her an idea.
"I am the hunt and the hunter," she muttered as she prepared to shoot her second arrow this one had a silver feather. The monster let go of Ron then swum upwards with its one good eye red from anger, water shot from below the ice and formed two giant hands that rose around her and then curled up and slammed her through the ice and into the water where the monster had more advantage.
