Goblins

He noticed that these goblins were not from outside the settlement,since the pitfalls were activated the moment they tried leaving the settlement,and from the high fluctuations of mana he perceived from the centre of the settlement,he deduced that these goblins were all spawns of the dungeon.

This only left him with more questions...

"Why now?"

He pondered on this as he had been here for close to three months,and no creature had spawned.

And from all the roars he could pick from the distance,he was sure that this spawning incident had taken place across the region he was in.

As he watched the one foot green ugly creatures,he saw three talker and masculine ones head over the pitfall.

"Shut up,the stronger ones are coming...!"

"Make way...!"

"Poor things..."

"Which goblin dug a trap hear?"

"How are we going to get meat..."

"Have you heard,all the entrances have this trap..."

"No way..."

"We are going to starve..."

"Noooh...!"

As the normal goblins made a ruckus,the three tier two goblins headed for the pitfall.

Two of the goblins that had been sent out to hunt for foot around the settlement had met their demise in the pit.

Looking in the pit,the three goblins conversed in low tone as they silenced the other goblins.

"What do you think of this..."

One of three asked the other two...

"I don't think it was made by the others..."

One of them,holding a staff on his left arm said.

From his staff, Marg could tell that he was a goblin mage,a goblin with high cunning stats and little to no close combat prowess.

As for the other tier two,each had an iron sword strapped on their waist.These were goblin warriors,famed for their high stats in both might and toughness as well as their prowess in melee combat.

As for the other goblins,they all had different crude weapons with them,some had bows,some spears,some swords,some shields and some had nothing.

As for clothing,apart from the two tier two warriors who had a set of leather armor and the mage who was clad in a robe,the rest were in loinclothes.

Among the goblins,only the strong ones could equip armor,as the weak ones were nothing but fodder.

For a goblin to earn recognition from their tribe,they had to prove their strength. And with strength came status and privileges.

For the three tier two goblins, being the most powerful currently,the position of leadership lay on their hands,but as to determine who would hold the tribes chief position,the three had to come to an agreement or else they would have to fight it out.

"Why do you think so...?"

One of the goblin warrior asked the mage...

"There are traps on all entrances..."

The mage said as he looked at the two dead goblins in the pit...

"And so..."

The previous goblin warrior asked as he did not grasp the meaning behind the mage's words.

"No one would build traps on all the entrances..."

The other goblin warrior said to his all brawn but no brain of a brother.

"I see..."

The no brain goblin warrior said as he nodded his head,with an enlightenment look on his ugly but no so ugly as the normal goblins face...

"But what if they had another entrance...?"

The brainy one of the two warriors asked the mage...

"That is also a possibility..."

The mage goblin said after some seconds of pondering. Being a mage with high cunning stats,he had to be the brain of this settlement.

"But why are we here...?"

"What happened to the tribe that lived in this settlement...?"

The mage goblin asked the two goblin warriors.

"We are here because the tribe living here we're wiped out..."

The brainy goblin warrior answered as he looked around...

"Then who made these traps...?"

The brawny goblin warrior asked as he looked into the pitfall.

"There was a survivor..."

The mage goblin mage said as he looked around...

"There is no way a goblin could survive the raid of those damn humans..."

"I agree.. "

The two goblin warriors disagreed with the mage goblin.

To them,no goblin under the fourth evolution could survive a human raid,and from the look of this settlement,there wasn't a fourth tier goblin residing in it.

If there was,then they would have felt the remains of his energy.

For fourth evolution or tier four monsters,they could leave behind a potion of their energy after death.

This energy could be absorbed by members of their races,the energy would help them strengthen their bodies,skills and in some occasions,the energy could help a monster mutate.

"I agree with you two..."

The mage goblin said as he took a second look at the wooden fence,before responding to the two goblin warriors...

"But what if the survivors were out hunting..."

Before the goblin warriors could refute him,he pointed at the fence.

"Look at the fence..."

"What with the fence...?"

The brawny goblin warrior asked as he could not see anything different from the fence.

"It is fortified with piles of soil and stones on some sections..."

The brainy said as it finally dawned on him. All the fortified points of the fences were at its weakest point,like the sides of each entrance.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

The clapping sound from behind the group of gathered goblins attracted the attention of everyone present.

The normal goblins turned and stared at the clapper.

It was a goblin,shorter than the normal goblins present but with packed muscles. The normal goblins shuddered in fear when they saw him. Though Marg was shorter than them,they could feel the power within his little body,he was stronger than the three tier two goblins.

As for the mage goblin and the two warrior goblins,they were surprised by the tiny goblin clad in a full set of armor,and equiped with a bow,a pair of knives and a pair of short spears.

The mage goblin,whose sensory power were the highest among all the goblins present,gulped when he sences the power within the little goblin.

He could clearly see that he was a tier two goblin just like him and the two warriors,but the his power was that of a tier four goblin.

"Good..."

Marg said as he approached the three tier two goblins as the normal ones paved way for him.

He had observed the exchange between the three since the beginning,and after inspecting them and determining that he could battle the trio together and emerge as the winner,he decided to reveal himself.
