After gennin exam when the assignment finally came, Naruto was not surprised to see who his teammates were. He was assigned to a team with Sasuke Uchiha, the top student in their class, and Sakura Haruno, a "talented and intelligent" kunoichi.

Naruto was "thrilled" to be on a team with Sasuke, whom he had "admired and respected" since their days in the academy. He was also "VERY happy" to have Sakura as a teammate, knowing that she was a "skilled" ninja and a "valuable" member of the team.
