UNEXPECTED ENCOUNTER

"Ok, then it's time for a hunt," Ossa said, resolved to get stronger.

" I've been meaning to ask, where are my weapons... The weapons I had as master's summon... " He inquired.

[ Shop is not available until update, you will have to do with the rusted rake ]

" Shop?!, I will have a shop full of items... Wow, master is so incredible " Ossa praised, excited at the prospect of one day being able to use the shop.

He added, " The rake is busted, it has been underground for too long, and it's practically useless"

Ossa had left the rake behind at the wasp hive, as it was a rusted antique from centuries ago, one of the many antiques buried in the Forbbiden forest as the forest was once a bustling city.

" Please try to see if you can find a better weapon for me " He requested.

[ Searching vicinity ]

[...]

[ No weapons found ]

[ Items found include, rakes, shovels, pitchforks, trowel, and other farm tools ]

" I guess this place used to be a farm," Ossa said internally.

" Hmmm", He halted in his steps as he tried to ponder on which of the farm tools would serve as a good weapon.

" I guess I would go with the pitchfork and rakes... They are more of my style " He decided on which of the available farm tools to use as a weapon.

[ Searching for the nearest pitchfork or rake ]

[ Pitchfork found, twenty metres from the host, on the host's left-hand side ]

" Thanks, " Ossa quickly rushed towards the direction Mors had pointed out, his dark green eyes easily peering through the darkness of the night.

He stopped as he reached this destination, a dark green glow, emanating from the ground.

" It should be here, " He said, as he started digging, in search of his weapon.

As he dug, a creature that feed on the mana of others sensed it. As he had unknowingly walked into its territory.

" It's really buried in deep " Ossa thought as he continued to dig, unaware of two sets of compound eyes that stared at him from above.

The eyes belonged to one of the many predators of the night, the hypno moth.

A foot-sized moth, a creature that forced its prey into a harmless illusion, a result of one inhaling its scales.

Its wings mirrored that of the bark of a tree, where it normally hid, in wait for prey.

It stuck to a tree, a few meters from Ossa, observing him well, as it had not seen a creature like that before.

It continued to stare at him, hesitant but still eager as Ossa, had mana which it deemed high in quality.

It feeds on the mana of others, nourishing its body for growth and evolution.

Its greed outweighed its cautiousness and it flew silently towards Ossa, flapping its wings gently to release its scales.

The undead skeleton which had no sensory cells to feel the scales nor nostrils and lungs to breathe it in, did not budge as he continued to dig.

Unaware Ossa was not affected by its scales, it gently flew closer, extending its proboscis in an attempt to suck the mana out of the unexpecting Ossa.

Ossa's battle instincts kicked in as he felt something was amiss.

He quickly turned, his gaze meeting that of the compound eyes of the hypno moth, which reflected the stars of the night sky.

" What's that " Ossa inquired as he had never seen a hypno moth before.

Hypno moths were creatures that were difficult to spot due to their camouflage and hypnotic abilities, making them a rare species despite their number.

Unlike most predators, they refrain from killing their prey, extracting only the necessary amount of mana to satisfy their hunger. The most severe outcome for their prey is losing consciousness due to mana depletion.

[ That's a peak-tier mystic hypno moth ]

" Peak tier?! " Ossa exclaimed, surprised as he did not expect to meet a peak-tier mystic creature any time soon.

" Yeah, it has a lot of potent mana," Ossa thought as he noticed the large amount of mana in its core.

Ossa was only able to determine the quantity and quality of mana, not the number of circles on a human's heart nor the color of the core of a beast.

From analysis, he determines their strength by their mana, which one out of ten he is right.

" Can I really fight it, " He thought, as the quantity and quality of mana, was nothing to scuff at.

" Any ideas on how I should handle this " He asked the system for help.

[ Host, the system update is not complete and thus I can not help you with your request. I don't have knowledge of battle arts yet ]

" Ok, then ... what .....can you.... tell me about it " Ossa inquired, stammering as the creature's proboscis touched his sternum.

A bright green light, shone from his sternum as it slowly crept through the creature's proboscis, glowing as it traveled into its mouth and then its stomach.

[ Hypno moths are creatures adept in hypnosis magic and camouflage. They have strong magical resistance but are weak against physical attack and strong fire magic]

" Physical attack!!! " Ossa thought, making up his mind as he straightened his fingers ready for an attack.

Screech!!! Flutter!!! Screech!!! Flutter!!!

Ossa paused in his actions as he noticed the creature screaming and fluttering its wings haphazardly, seemingly in pain.

The green light that had traveled from Ossa's body to it, started to engulf it, slowly materializing into dark green flames. The same flames Bel used.

" What's going on " Ossa inquired.

[...]

But there was no reply from the system.

" Well, whatever, this is my chance to get rid of it, " Ossa said internally as he rushed towards the moth that was writhing in pain.

With his fingers straightened, he stabbed at it, his bony fingers breaking as they touched the creature's hairy exoskeleton.

" What... I thought you said it was weak to physical attacks " Ossa inquired, perplexed at the turn of events.

[ Host is too weak for his physical attack to have an effect on it ]

" Really!!! Seriously!!! ... Why didn't ... Never mind " Ossa grumbled. As his cognition grew his thoughts became more expressive mimicking that of a teenage boy.

"It's just like the wasp, I need a weapon," He thought as he turned towards the hole he had dug.

Peering through the soil was the head of a pitchfork. He quickly pulled it out and once again stabbed at the creature.

The rusted pitchfork pierced the creature's exoskeleton.

Screech!!!

" That's too shallow," Ossa said as he kicked the pitchfork forcing it into the creature's body.
