Firearms in a World of Magic

[This novel has been discontinued.] In world of magic and mythical creatures, who wouldn't dream of living there? From incredibly tall and steep mountains to floating islands with huge waterfalls going down below to the endless horizon of sea. Legendary magicians capable of destroying whole mountain ranges, druids terraforming an entire desert into a lush tropical paradise and even more exciting stuff. Last but not least, magic. The concept of mana all around everything. Being able to spark a fire without using a lighter to flying endlessly on the blanket of clouds in the cold breezy sky. There's no questioning why people wouldn't practice magic. However, there was a man who reincarnated in that said world and unfortunately for him, he had little to no talent in magic. Regardless of that; on one fateful day, he suddenly woke up to the surprise of a firearm by the side of his bed. That was when he knew, he didn't need magic after all. “If I can't use magic, I'll just use my knowledge of guns to make up for it!” He said, not knowing what was to come in the future. --- If you want to be quick, you can skip to Chapter 8. The synopsis does already covers some of it but you'll miss out at the characters.

Schiessemann

Kaalsuo was sitting patiently not because he was waiting for something but because he was cautious of what his behaviour would effect on his stay in the watchtower.

Though, Zwischez in the other hand was already running around the place accidentally dropping books upon books on the bookshelves on the way. However, the old man didn't care anyways.

"Hey there kid, I heard your name was Kaalsuo." The man suddenly told Kaalsuo which was slightly menacing to Kaalsuo's mind. Menacing due to the fact the man wasn't even looking Kaalsuo but instead read some kind of book at that time.

The old man then slowly and roughly adjusted his chair to Kaalsuo's direction. The chair was somehow mechanical which would allow the man to move around wherever he liked without even bothering to walk. Additionally, the chair also had a built-in feature which extended the chair to great heights so that the old man could reach for books more efficiently and lazily.

"If you can even understand me, my name is Schiessemann." The man informed Kaalsuo of his name half heartedly and jokingly. He had no reason to assume that this just nine month old infant would somehow understand his words unless the said infant was a linguistic prodigy.

Oppositely, Kaalsuo did fully understand the man's words as he rapidly understood most of the words traversed by Zwischez and his mother, Chrysea. It was natural for him to quickly adapt to his surroundings including the language around him as his mind was definitely matured enough to do so.

Schiessemann then told Zwischez and perhaps Kaalsuo "Hey guys, I'm going on a walk. Later." At that moment, Kaalsuo now had some confirmation that this old man was indeed a horrible caretaker. Though, Kaalsuo in actuality didn't care if the man left him alone.

It would only give him more freedom to check out the cool things inside the watchtower. Perhaps there were more awesome contraptions such as the mechanical chair from earlier.

"Wait for me! I wanna come too!" Zwischez hurriedly said to Schiessemann, wanting to follow the man with his perhaps wonderful walk. This shocked Kaalsuo as he expected Zwischez to ignore the old man's words.

"Hm, sure. I don't really care."

"Yay!"

Kaalsuo didn't know how to react to the man's response to Zwischez's sudden request. That was when he knew, the old man definitely must be incompetent to watch over him, let alone Zwischez.

"Well, I guess I'll have to be even more cautious in this case."

As the two idiots went outside for their wonderful walk, Kaalsuo immediately began his new mission of inspecting every single inch of the watchtower.

One of the first things he wanted to do was to check out the contents of at least one of the variously stacked books. Judging by the content of the book he had coincidentally observed from earlier, it was likely a book specially for magic which he had been longing to do.

However, there was one problem he had to face if he wanted to read the supposed books. He was still illiterate as none of his family members except perhaps his older brother, Churnol was literate.

"Let's just hope there's illustrations explaining it."

Kaalsuo crawled to the least highest stack of books which was just one sad book on the floor.

Unexpectedly, the book that he stumbled upon was the perfect book for it all. The cover showed extremely clearly that the title was indeed;

'Basics of Magic That Even A Nine Month Old Toddler Could Learn'

"Well, that was oddly specific but okay." Kaalsuo commented on the clearly unnecessarily long title. He then flipped over the cover all the way to the first page of the book and there it was. The basics of magic.

Sadly, the title didn't live up to it's name as it disappointingly was comprised of mostly text he couldn't comprehend before up until that moment. Though, there were still plenty of illustrations scattered just throughout the first page.

The mentioned illustrations were random hand gestures which rather looked much more like gang signs.

Too bad the illustrations did little to nothing to explain the basics of magic. It was useless to continue on as he couldn't even read the text that was in front of bare eyes.

"Bummer."

Kaalsuo crawled off, feeling frustrated and disappointed as when he finally got the chance of discovering the basics of magic; the phenomenon Kaalsuo always dreamt off, the book did nothing but disappointed him.

However, Kaalsuo remembered that he was still ten month old which slightly gave him a morale boost. 'If I can't practice magic now, might as well do it later.'

Crawling away from the book, Kaalsuo now headed to the quite possibly Schiessemann's desk which he had caught a glimpse earlier. According to what he had remembered from earlier, there was definitely a complicated book on the top of the desk.

The problem was the book was of course, on top the desk. To make things worse, the desk was unnecessarily tall which make even Zwischez's attempts of reaching the top of the desk in the realm of impossibility.

"Certainly, Schiessemann doesn't realise how high his desk actually is."

Kaalsuo decided to not waste his time mind wandering about the old man's desk. He figured that he should check more of the undiscovered objects in the watchtower before ultimately throwing that idea in the bin.

Though, Kaalsuo did admit that his current motive at the moment was perhaps just as pointless as the rest previously.

He then crawled his way to the melancholic item. It was shiny and reflective. The item was notorious for showing the appearances of people which either made them proud of themselves or utterly disgusted at themselves. That's right, it's the mirror.

Kaalsuo had a lingering thought of observing his appearance. He knew if he wanted a fairly average life, he needed to have a mediocre appearance at least. Not too disgusting and not too godlike.

One of the primary reasons as to why and how he couldn't observe his appearance before this point was that he had absolutely no chance to wander around looking mirrors. However, Kaalsuo doubted the possibility of his family even having a mirror.

He couldn't even find a puddle of water as the overlooking beast was always observing him at all times. Of course, that beast would be his mother. Even then, Kaalsuo had done plenty of other things just to create the chance of checking out his appearance.

One of the attempts that he had done was to find any item with reflective material on it. Sadly for Kaalsuo, those items were in the realm of impossibility as his mother quite possibly might've hidden any potentially sharp items such as wine glasses. Who knows?

Kaalsuo anxiously crawled his way to the front of the mirror with his eyes closed.

"This is finally it, the moment of truth." He said when he suddenly collided on the wall. Kaalsuo had crawled a tad bit too far.

Kaalsuo swiftly ignored the mistake as he didn't want to ruin the atmosphere around him.

'Was he going to a charismatic man comparable to those generic manhua characters or will he be an absolute disgrace to his family?"

Kaalsuo opened his eyes within a flash to witness that his looks wasn't that bad. Likely because he was again still ten month old but regardless of that, it was all good.

His hair was light brown, to some extent it was like caramel. There was nothing much to compliment about Kaalsuo's hair. He was still an infant so naturally, his hair was untidy and all over the place. However, the hair was short enough for it to not seem as if it was comparable to an actual train wreck.

His face overall was the same as the hair. There was absolutely nothing Kaalsuo could possibly compliment about as he was again an infant. The only noticeable feature he could possibly see was that his cheeks were perhaps slightly chubby.

Just like the face and hair, his body in general were average at best. For the same reason, his body obviously wasn't comparable to that of supermodels.

Kaalsuo wasn't expecting much from his looks but now that he had finally seen his looks, he was satisfied.

Nonetheless, it was absolutely not because he liked cupcakes. (This isn't sarcasm btw)

"Hey, at least I'm not ugly for now." Kaalsuo assured himself.

Just as he finished evaluating his looks, the two idiots were finally back from their fascinating walk.

"Ah, that was a satisfying walk." Schiessemann remarked, stretching his body in the process. Though, it clearly wasn't necessary on Kaalsuo's perspective.

"Yeah!" Zwischez added whilst energetically running around the watchtower like a maniac.

Kaalsuo really didn't give a fuck about the two strange human beings and just visualised a thumbs up inside his mind half-heartedly.

"Uncle, that huge fire was so cool! How did you do that!!" Zwischez enthusiastically remarked with sparkles on his eyes.

However for Kaalsuo, he was slightly confused as to why Schiessemann didn't just reveal that he was his uncle. Regardless of that, he was more confused that Schiessemann was actually an uncle instead of an old relic of a grandpa.

"Well, it's just some simple magic. Nothing too serious." Schiessemann shrugged his shoulders while his left hand showing a small yet ferocious fire.

"Wait what? He's a magician? What kind of sorcery is this?" Kaalsuo was dumbstruck. First, the old man in actuality wasn't old, he only looked old. Second, he was his uncle and last but not least, he was a god damn magician.

Then was he realised something. He had one way or another been insulting the supposed old man when in reality, he was the last person to disrespect.

Upon that realisation, Kaalsuo felt rather guilty of himself. Normally, he wouldn't outright disrespect someone he had just met but throughout this whole period, he had disrespected him just because of some lacking first impressions.

He knew that if he was in the situation of becoming a judge, he would absolutely suck at the job.

Kaalsuo then slowly crawled his way to Schiessemann's location. "Hey kid! There you are." Schiessemann expressed joy upon seeing Kaalsuo which made Kaalsuo even more guiltier. Certainly, this man was those kinds of weird yet entertaining uncles.

"Oh, I almost forgot." Schiessemann suddenly remembered and immediately did some speedy hand gestures on his right. As he finished his hand gestures, the claustrophobic-like stacked books began to float and dashed to various different locations on the bookshelves.

He then went ahead and slowly weaved his hands and quickly clapped his hands. Somehow creating a blast wave that only removed every single filthy thing in the watchtower, from humongous cobwebs to unremovable stains on the wall.

"Weird dance moves but okay." Kaalsuo commented about the strange weaving but overall, he was amazed what Schiessemann had done. He supposed that if the man had a severe syndrome of laziness, he would've had multiple ways to cure that. At least temporarily.

"Damn, I'm looking like someone that got disowned." Schiessemann commented on his horrendously awful looking robe he was wearing. He hadn't realised it was this bad until this moment.

"Wait for a moment, I'm changing my clothes." Schiessemann walked to the wall and mumbled some mysterious words. All of a sudden, the wall distorted into a steel door which Schiessemann of course entered into.

Zwischez decided to play around the watchtower meanwhile the man changed. He hopped into Schiessemann's mechanical chair and extended up the way to the ceiling where it stop.

However; when Zwischez tried to get down, he was scared shitless looking the height he was on. It was until that moment, he knew that he messed up.

"Hey-... Who messed with my beloved chair?" Schiessemann asked, now dripped out with a navy blue tunic with some silver patterned details at the sleeves. He was also wearing a dark brown medieval trousers or breeches if you want to be specific. In addition to that, he was wearing those strange pointy shoes from the medieval times.

Schiessemann then saw Zwischez all the way up to the ceiling with his chair. The strange thing was that Schiessemann didn't look up with his head. His eyes became alienlike and within an instant, rotated his eyes to the top.

"Oh by the way, if you're wondering how my eyes are doing this, it's just an odd spell to enhance the speed of where your eyes are looking." Schiessemann suddenly informed for no particular reason as if he was talking to a wall. Perhaps he was talking to Kaalsuo but it would've been useless to tell some facts to a ten month old which can't even talk yet. Let alone understand his words.

Schiessemann sighed and mumbled something. Suddenly, Zwischez was now on the bottom of the watchtower. The man rushed to his beloved chair and toggle one of the switches. The moment he did that, the chair came in horrifyingly quick speed and went back to it's former self with a boom.

"Well, now that's settled. Who wants to learn some magic?" Upon those words, Zwischez was surprised at the random offer that had came out of nowhere. Zwischez couldn't contain his excitement and immediately raised his hands to catch his uncle's attention.

For Kaalsuo at that very moment, it was like God had somehow saw his struggle for magic and finally bestowed to him some magic he could finally learn.

"Well! Let's get started!" Schiessemann enthusiastically yelled.

I originally named this dude as a joke. However, I wanted this cool wizard guy in the storyline cuz why not?

Anyways, I didn't add the dude for no reason aside from it's cool. He'll be important later on.
