Chapter 15: Know Your Enemy and You Will Win

Chapter 15: Know Your Enemy and You Will Win

"Come closer to me all of you." Julius motioned to the group in order to hide them using [Disruption].

Because everyone already knew about his ability, they didn't question it and kept it as close as possible. A gray fog covered the ruined street preventing any intruder from seeing more than two feet away. Immediately Julius deployed a Bounded Field that would allow him to perfectly sense anyone who entered the bounded area, one could imagine it being something similar to En from Hunter X Hunter, but using Bounded Fields instead of Nen.

Besides, it hardly took a toll on Julius to maintain a Bounded Field of about five hundred meters in radius.

He sensed two Servants, a Lancer, and an Assassin. Both of them had a signature similar to the Rider they had faced, which meant they were Shadow Servants.

"Tohsaka, I need you to distract them, Assassin is very perceptive so a surprise attack won't work." He told her.

Rin nodded. "Okay, but I can't see them."

"Okay, we'll do this…" Julius began to explain the plan.

Meanwhile, Hassan of the Cursed Arm and Musashibou Benkei cautiously walked through the strange mist that had appeared out of nowhere and they were unable to dispel.

"Those rats have hidden well, but whoever did this shouldn't be able to last too long." Assassin muttered. "I will have their heads."

Lancer could only laugh madly.

Suddenly, the gray fog that surrounded them dissipated, forming a circle around them, alerting them. What they did not expect was that a [Gandr] would fall on them from the sky.

Luckily for them, they were able to dodge it and looked at the person who had attacked them. Rin was floating in the air, right above them, and preparing more curses.

"You're finally out, little rat." Assassin chuckled as Benkei grabbed one of his weapons and hurled it at incredible speeds.

The girl, however, moved like a puppet, pushed back by something invisible. She didn't stop in her assault on [Gandr] even as she narrowly dodged the axe.

'She can fly?' Assassin wondered internally as the two Shadow Servants chased after her. 'No, it doesn't seem like that. But then how can she move in the air?'

As they ran, the fog dissipated in their wake, allowing the magus girl to see them. Unfortunately for both Servants, they didn't have any attacks that could be used from a distance except for their Noble Phantasms, which was why they could only chase after Rin hoping that at some point she would have to stop.

Finally, the moment they were waiting for came, she clicked her tongue and intensified the flurry of curses.

"Heh, you've finally had enough." Hassan of the Cursed Arm ran at full speed, dodging the [Gandr], and jumped up with his dagger in hand. "Your head is mine!"

Suddenly, his perception of the world slowed down. His eyes widened as he felt that he was in mortal danger. However, he couldn't do anything else as his head exploded and disappeared in the next instant.

"One down." Julius fired another [Gandr] at Benkei, trying to take advantage of a possible shock, but he dodged it easily as he felt the power of the attack.

'Creating a sense of victory to make the enemy drop their guard, that's a common strategy, but as he expected it has worked.' Julius smiled as he jumped towards Benkei. 'And then...'

"HAHAHAHAHAHAH." Lancer laughed madly and seized his spear as he charged toward Julius.

"Indeed, you have completely focused on me." The magus commented.

Just then, Mash came out of the mist behind Lancer with her shield ready and managed to hit Benkei, who was sent flying several meters. In the air, more than five [Gandr] hit him on different parts of the body, completely finishing off the Shadow Servant.

The fog dissipated completely.

Olga Marie and Ritsuka approached when they saw that there was no longer any sign of the enemy.

"You..." The Director tried to find the right words to express her surprise at having survived an attack by two Servants unscathed.

However, what Julius had actually done was not that impressive.

"Don't be surprised, these types of tricks work especially well for those enemies who are not at their full mental capacities, and that is exactly the state of Shadow Servants." He explained.

Actually, knowing your enemy's weaknesses was a decisive factor for battles that didn't have an abysmal power difference. He had simply used [Invisible Hand] to move Rin through the air and create some sort of chase situation.

He used Assassin's sense of victory to finish him off guard. Afterward, he knew that Benkei would instantly perceive him as the greater threat and stop taking notice of his surroundings.

It was an effective plan in this situation, but it wouldn't have worked on ordinary Servants.

"Know your enemy and you will win." He declared.
