Chapter 16: No Further Elaborations

"Man, I meant to help you with those two, but it seems there's no need." The fog began to clear and with that, a man approached them from a distance.

"I was waiting for your entrance, Caster." Julius took a deep breath, he had used quite a bit of power on those [Gandr] and he needed a break.

"Lancer?" Rin seemed confused to see the enemy's Servant right in front of her. She almost instinctively got into a battle stance, but she realized the difference between the one she remembered and the one that had just appeared.

"Lancer? I think you're wrong, lady, though I can see why you'd think Caster doesn't suit me." The blue-haired man sulked and stung the ground with his staff. "I wish I could be Lancer..."

The Chaldeans looked at him in surprise, Rin seemed immediately disappointed, and Julius just remained impassive.

"It's alright, any kind of help is appreciated." Ritsuka stepped forward.

"Heh, I see some talent in you, boy. There's also that shield lady, you're all interesting." Cú Chulainn looked directly at the Chaldea master. "I'm a Caster-class Servant. I think we're all in a bit of a sticky situation. How about I form a temporary contract with you?"

Ritsuka was surprised. "Wait, wouldn't it be better if you form the contract with Julius there?" He pointed at the magus, who had been talking to Rin about the workings of [Gandr]. "He's a much better magus than me, he also already has experience as a master."

Caster raised an eyebrow and looked at Julius, who noticed and turned to hear what they were talking about.

"Him? Nah. It's no fun having someone like him as a master, he can fight alone." He waved dismissively with his hand. "Besides, aren't you the one who should take care of this place?"

Fujimaru felt a new connection to the Servant in front of him. He reflected for a moment and realized that if he wanted to remain one of Chaldea's masters he needed to prove himself up to the job.

"Okay, I'm glad to have you on our side, Caster." He felt his resolution increase intensely. "Isn't it, Mash?"

The girl nodded happily. "Yes, I feel that our chances of victory have increased a lot."

However, a voice interrupted them.

"Don't get excited yet." Julius finished talking with Rin and now they were both with the group. "So far we've only defeated a couple of punks who couldn't control themselves. Most likely there are stronger enemies in this place, we shouldn't get too confident."

"Come on, come on, don't act like an old man, being so young." Caster laughed out loud. "I must say, all of you outsider girls have a pretty decent body."

Julius felt that he was too old for these things, and he was only twenty years old. 'Ah, now an old pervert calls me grandpa, when did everything go so wrong?' He folded his hands like he was one of those old Chinese Taoists. 'I think I'll become a cultivator and lock myself in a cave to avoid this whole world of bullshit.'

Mash blushed and didn't know what to say.

"Hah?" Rin looked at him with pity in her eyes.

"Hey, Fujimaru, what do you think of that?" Olga Marie came out of nowhere and asked the master.

"He's an ally, maybe?" Ritsuka answered with some doubt in his voice.

Julius sighed, having finally regained all the energy from him. "Caster, I don't care what you say, but if you dare touch Tohsaka I'll blow your hand off."

"Huh?" Everyone fell silent at the unexpected statement.

Rin blushed.

"Ah, I see, it seems you're not as boring as I thought..." Caster looked at Rin with a smile. "How good for you, lady, it seems that he is completely crazy about you."

"Wh-what are you talking about? Julius and I are just allies, allies!" The girl exclaimed with a completely red face.

Julius closed his eyes. "I'm not going to give any further explanations, let's proceed with this Singularity that is starting to get fed up with me."

"What do you mean no further explanations?" Rin tried to question him.

Just then the voice of Doctor Romani was heard.

"For now, let's get some information. He seems to be a decent heroic spirit." He commented.

Caster turned serious. "Oh, so someone who wants to cut to the chase. What is this? Some means of communication through magecraft?"

"Well met, Caster Servant." After these words, Romani proceeded to explain everything related to the current situation in Chaldea. "Currently, Ritsuka Fujimaru is the acting Master and in the middle of conducting field research."

"Here, our Holy Grail War did not end, but changed into something completely different." The Servant explained. "I don't know how it happened either. The city was engulfed in flames, and the humans vanished. Only the Servants remained. Saber was the first to resume the Holy Grail War. That chap began rampaging like a tiger released from a cage."

"So everyone else was defeated by Saber?" Julius asked, though he already knew the answer.

"That's how it is." Caster confirmed. "Archer, Lancer, Rider, Berserker, and Assassin were all defeated by Saber."

"The survival of the seven Servants." Olga Marie spoke. "That rule of the Holy Grail War was broken here."

"And in the end, you won, Caster..." Mash deduced the situation. "Or rather, you're the Servant who survived."

"Yes. Any Servant that was defeated by Saber became like those two, corrupted by the black mud." The Servant said what everyone had already intuited. "They and the monsters that sprung up like maggots started looking for something together. One of those things it's me."

"I guess the Holy Grail War won't end until you die." Rin had recovered and understood that the corrupted Servants were most likely seeking to end the war.

"That's how it is." he confirmed.
