Chapter 21 - The exam part 3

As the Goblin paladin stepped out it looked nothing like any of the other goblins. The goblin was about 2.5 meters tall, it had Armor on all of the normal goblin weakness allowing no easy gaps, it had a helmet on its head which covered its neck. This goblin also had tusks that made it look more like an Ogre or a Troll then a goblin. In is hand was a huge sword that seemed to be around 1,5 meters long.

As the Paladin looked around at the students in the stands before looking at Gil and raising his sword.

"So you are my opponent, kneel before the mighty Krulac and admit defeat for a quick death."

Gil responded to both the system massage and Krulac's message by firing air needles.

"Good, good you choose the hard options" Krulac said easily dodging the attack and running straight to Gil.

"Please work" Gil envisioned small bumps in the ground in front of Krulac, not to big he would notice but not to small his plan wouldnt work. His plan was to use the uneven ground and cause Krulac to trip and fall.

When Krulac was around 15 meters from him he lost his footing ant fell forward, however in an instant he performed a forward roll regaining the lost momentum. As Krulac rolled Gil noted everything he could about the armour, where there was opening, the weakest points and any other points of interest he could think of.

Gil noticed that the weakest points in the armour was behind Krulac's knee's, the middle of his back where his chest plate was strapped and lastly the area of face not covered by anything there wasnt many but Gil thought it was better then non.

Gil was happy the message was hidden during the fight but activated battle sense hoping it would help, he was suddenly aware of everything on a 10 meter radius of himself.

As Krulac got to his feet he looked behind him.

"Very good, changing the terrain to make me lose my balance" he chuckled.

To the students that where watching they where both happy and scared by the goblin commentating the fight.

"15 seconds past your out!" Someone called and pointed another student.

Krulac pulled back his sword behind his head and swing towards Gil and a blade of wind shot out towards him. Rolling backwards to dodge, when he looked back up again Krulac was bringing his sword down with both hands down to Gil.

Sarah and the other teaches had been ready to intervein at any moment and where just about to.

"Wait"

"Let see how he responds, if needed i can stop the goblin."

Sara looked back and saw Leon and Ava coming out of a rift. Before she could ask why there here a sudden BANG emerged.

All of Gils instincts told him to raise his sword flat side up, doing so was when he saw Krulac bringing sown his blade, if was a second later he would be dead.

[-100 Hp]

Releasing his left hand and placing it straight onto Krulac chest plate Gil fired a compressed fire blast melting away a chunk of it away.

"AHHHHh... Crafty" Krulac said walking back and looking at the flames still melting some of his armour.

Tash who had been standing and watching the whole time was impressed that Gil was seemingly holding his own. "Im a burden to him, hes out there fighting the strongest monster this class has faced by himself after protecting me" She thought.

Standing back up Gil shock both his hands that where still a bit numb trying to this of anything he could do.

"Tash how long do you reckon"

"3 minutes"

Deciding to push himself for 3 minutes he charged at Krulac firing and earth needle and fire needle.

The next two attacks Gil sent where longer and more powerful then the elemental needls before. Krulac blocked both of these with the same expectation as the prior attacks but these pushed him backwards a couple of feet.

Charging in both swung there blades clashing with a loud bang going through the sword, because the material in Gil sword was better his chipped away a chunk of Krulac, but as Krulac had the upper hand Gil was sent flying back to the remains of the goblin's from before.

Rolling to negate any more damage Gil grabbed a dagger from one of the goblins bodies. With the dagger in his left hand he concentrated in covering it in fire the same as when he did the air slash,

[Message hidden during fight]

Firing a wind spear and then throwing the dagger both aimed at the gap in the chest plate.

"Hopefully he will think the dagger is another fire spear and simply block it" Gil thought, and thats what happened. Krulac raised his sword blocking the attacks after the air spear his the dagger sunk into his sword.

"Ahh tricky trick little human" Krulac chuckled.

Gil had been keeping track of the time and had 2:30 left before Tash was ready. Charging back in doing the same motion, before the two swords met Gil slide down on the ground. The first thing he did was raise a large stone pillar and then he slashed at the open part of the leg on Krulac. Krulac could no longer stand properly and collapsed, as he fell the stone pillar raising out of the ground smacked into the falling goblin.

Following up on his last part of the plan he used the bottom part of the sword to slash at the chest plates strapping casing it to fall of.

"TASH WHEN YOUR READY FIRE YOUR LARGEST ATTACK STRAIGHT AWAY DONT HESITATE" Gil yelled.

"Enough!!!!" Krulac yelled. One of the tusks he was so proud of had now been broken of.

For Goblin's when they reach a certain power they grow tusks, the more the tusks the more power they had. For his to be broken meant he had lost power in the face of the goblin king.

Swinging his sword and spinning on the ground still not being able to stand, Gil raised an earth shield from the ground and blocking with the blunt end of the sword. Krulac blade smashed through the first shield slowing it down before meeting Gil's.

Checking his status Gil thought he could last another minute at most. Raising as many earth pillars as possible between him and Krulac Gil started to move between them slashing at Krulac when ever he could. Krulac was slowly getting to his feet was now being slashed at different points, now his chest plate was gone he was defending as many attacks as possible. Gil had given up on defence and didnt worry about mana left to mix in attacks was attacking faster then Krulac could keep up with.

"At this rate he might defeat the Paladin by himself, anyone bet on that"

"I wish I had i would have made a lot of credits"

All the students where talking about how Gil would defeat the goblin.

"Ava, what do you recon, will he make it to the end" Leon asked

"No, he hasnt used any mana attacks since the pillars raised. He also has given up defence and focused solely on attacking. Its a good plan."

"I agree, its a good plan considering his status going in. If he was going in fresh then i think it would have been a different story."

"Still, when was the last time a team dealt with a paladin of this calibre who was it Beth's team?"

"Ah Beth she left the school here 4 years ago as a level 4C hunter, already better then some professionals."

Ava and Leon's conversation slowly drifted away from Gils fight and reminiscing about old students and there powers.

Gil wasn't sure if his attacks where slowing down or Krulac was getting used to the pattern of hiding and attacking, but few an fewer hits where landing and more where being blocked.

Tash was watching the entire time, happy when Gil landed a good hit and sad when one was blocked. Tash slowly started forming a dagger getting ready to fire it. She noticed that Gil was in the way and wasn't sure to fire or not.

"Please be the right choice" Tash whispered when letting the huge ice dagger fly.

"Is she stupid"

"Not being included in the fight and trying to steal the thunder"

"SILVER LOOK OUT"

Cries from the students where being yelled into the arena. Tash felt like she made the wrong the choice and was running to help.

"Looks like we need to make a move, that ice attack will hit both of them" Ava said standing up with sparks flickering in her hands.

"Perfect timing tash" Gil thought not hearing the cries from everyone else. He sensed the dagger approaching thanks to his battle sense, when it was close enough Gil performed a backflip. As he left the ground he felt a large cold substance pass beneath him, the large ice dagger sunk straight into Krulac's chest.

As Tash ran forward to warn Gil, she saw him perfectly dodge the ice dagger.

Krulac didn't have time to dodge as he suddenly felt something cold plunge into his belly. "Ah so this is the end…. Facing a perfect due… hehehe" he paused coughing up blood. "May we never meet in the next life" with that Krulac fell backwards.

Gil landed wobbly after the flip and was about to fall when Tash caught him.

"Thank you Tash without you …. we could never have defeated… him" Gil said between gasps.

"How did you know my attack would work" Tash asked.

"I have trust in you" Gil said.

Both of them made there way to the area with the support students, non of the students know how to respond. Even Ava was a tad shocked that Gil and Tash had this sort of teamwork.

"Umm alright, we'll have a 5 minute rest to clean up and then we will resume" Sarah said.

Gil was to busy staring at a screen that appeared in front of him.

Gil instantly clicked "yes" and decided to check everything when he got back to his dorm.
