Ancestral Revenge

An atmosphere of excitement enveloped one of the swamp huts which was the Lamia Race Headquarters. They felt victory was on their side even though their assault army had just arrived at Darkness Castle.

Hatred towards the Princess of Darkness had been a legacy passed down from generation to generation to every Lamia Lord since 1000 years ago. Even their ancestors also told every Lamia who became a Lamia Lord to kill the Darkness Princess after performing the Demon King Summoning Ritual.

A Lamia with a half-human form with long black hair and sharp reptilian pupils was the 32nd heir to the hatred of the first Lamia Lord. The latter had died in vain at the hands of the Princess of Darkness.

"Kuhaha, finally! After 31 generations of Lamia Lords who have died without any progress, now, I am the 32nd Lamia Lord, Baselix! Successfully slaying the Princess of Darkness! Cheers!"

The Lamia Lord cheerfully started the victory party from their assault. They believed their combat power to be on a different level from the Princess of Darkness, who only had the Old Tree Man, a penguin, and the weak races who couldn't even fight.

There was no additional power apart from a tiny lizard summoned through the Demon King Summoning Ritual. Lamia Lord was sure because he had been keeping an eye on Darkness Castle at all times.

"You are indeed the greatest of the entire generation of Lamia Lords, Lord Baselix. How foolish the Princess of Darkness is for failing to summon the True Dragon King." The elders of the Lamia Race praised their Lord's achievement of successfully carrying out their ancestor's orders.

"We should also thank our ancestors! Our race was able to do this great thing thanks to those who have passed down the Princess of Darkness weakness to you."

"No! This is the result of my own hard work. Not even a single ancestor has done anything other than being the messenger of the first Lamia Lord to the next generation. You shouldn't thank them but you should worship me for always watching Princess of Darkness movements."

"Yes, you are right. Glad to be your subordinate. Just a few more minutes... Princess of Darkness Energy Core will be yours, Lord Baselix!"

"Being the strongest monster that will take over Darkness Castle and the dominion of the one-third land that the True Dragon King left behind is no longer a dream for you."

"Long live Lord Baselix! Long live Lord Baselix!" The Lamia Race elders' joyful cheers for their Lord resounded within the hut. They didn't even know that their Lord was doing nothing but following the message of their ancestors.

__

Their victory party was interrupted when a Lamia Warrior slithered up quickly to report what was happening on the battlefield.

"Lord Baselix! This is terrible!"

"Kuhaha! How quickly you conquered, I thought the Princess of Darkness would be nothing. This is when the Lamia Race will become the King of all monster races!" Overconfident Lord Baselix heard those worried screams as a report of success in conquering Darkness Castle.

"I'm sorry, but your plan failed miserably!" He gasped for air as he reported the situation on the battlefield.

"Alright... It's about time I absorb the Princess of Darkness Energy Core... I'm sure my plan will fail... Eh!! What did you say?!" Lord Baselix was shocked as his thoughts conflicted with what he had heard.

"The attack plan against Darkness Castle failed. Initially, everything went smoothly according to your orders to climb up the castle without the door.

But whoever did it, there was a whip from the roots that knocked our army down. After that, the castle that was previously easy to climb was suddenly covered with thorns."

"Impossible! I believe the Princess of Darkness has summoned the crippled Demon King... Or could one of the 12 Servants have returned without me knowing?!" Lord Baselix smashed the table full of food and drank in half.

He really couldn't think because he only carried out the whole plan from his ancestral message and didn't prepare a backup plan.

"Supposedly if one of the True Dragon King's Servants had returned, they wouldn't be in a defensive state like this. Could it be that the Lizard you saw from the memory of the snake you sent was a True Dragon King who turned small?"

"I'm sure! That Lizard doesn't have the golden colored aura that the True Dragon King has at all. Even the snake that the Lizard killed didn't see any color emanating from his body." Lord Baselix was sure of the memory he got from the snake that Evan killed.

"Then what are we going to do? If we fail and Princess of Darkness recovers, she will massacre our entire race...!!" The Lamia Warrior panicked at the consequences the Lamia Race would receive if they failed to kill the Princess of Darkness and made the Lamia Race elders burst into a fright.

"It's obvious! If we enter the battlefield? Your strength will definitely help us win. The fate of our race is in your hands, Lord Baselix." So the elders agreed to suggest for Lord Baselix to join the battlefield.

Without thinking about the elders' orders any longer, he accepted their request to avoid being humiliated. Then, before leaving, he took the strongest spear that was passed down to every Lamia Lord.

__

Evan kept an eye on the movements of the snakes trying to climb up the castle because they weren't armed, so they didn't have the strength to destroy the thorn bush.

"My King! Looks like the person you've been waiting for has arrived." Piwood pointed to the swamp from which the snakes had come.

Piwood's warning was accompanied by a hissing sound and a terrifying aura.

"W-what kind of monster is that???" Evan was taken aback when he saw several half-snake humans slithering towards Darkness Castle. One of them was carrying a magical-looking golden spear.

"That's the higher-ups of the Lamia Race, they tend to be cowardly and always put their safety first."

Seeing that only one looked potent among the half-human snakes, Evan started to use his Appraiser Skill.
