Madam Nelson panicked for the first time.
That man was affiliated with the mafia and sternly warned her that Ari was not allowed to divorce Noah. At least not yet, as it was not the time for her to leave their family. If she divorced Noah, then her family would be in indefinite danger.
"What nonsense!" Madam Nelson hid her thoughts and glared at Ari. She stepped forward and said, "There has never been a woman in the Nelson family who divorced her husband. How can you even bring up such a matter!"
She then turned to look at her son, Madam Nelson was worried that Noah would agree to Ari's divorce request. She immediately advised Noah, "Listen to me, son. This is not a matter which can be treated lightly. Think of your grandfather and the reputation of the Nelson family. If she divorces you, our family will become a joke in the eyes of others."
"What will they say? That we couldn't even keep a woman of her status happy?"
Other than getting her family entangled in danger, Madam Nelson was worried that others would mock her once they found out that it was Ari who suggested divorce. For a man of Noah's status to be divorced by someone like Ari was simply humiliating!
Noah did not listen to his mother's rambling, all of his attention was focused on Ari. He really couldn't understand how his sweet wife, who didn't even dare to look him in the eyes, was now glaring at him.
He reluctantly looked at the divorce agreement, though he wanted to flee from this situation as it wasn't going according to his plan, but Noah Nelson was no quitter. He flipped through the agreement and was shocked when he realized that the agreement was completely against Ari.
"You don't even want alimony?" Noah questioned. He was now sure that if someone were to tell him that his wife was a devil worshiper he wouldn't be shocked. After all, she was giving him too many surprises one after another. His brows were furrowed as he raised his head from the agreement and looked at Ari.
"I want to leave as soon as possible," Ari knew this man would be suspicious of her intentions. Thus she cleared up the misunderstandings which might arise in case Ariel was to whisper in his ears again.
Her response made the furrow deepen on Noah's face. He raised his fingers and pinched the space between his brows. Something, he did when his head was hurting.
This was a habit that Ari was aware of. In the past, she would reach out and nurse Noah's forehead, but this time around, she did not even want to speak to him much less touch him.
Noah also sensed the change in her and the discomfort in his heart rose, he rubbed the space between his brows. He then explained, "I know that you are upset about what happened, if you give me a chance, then I will explain——"
"I am not upset," before he could finish Ari interrupted him, causing Noah to pause and drop his hand. He raised his head and looked at Ari with a confused look, he didn't know what was going on with Ari, but something was telling him that the whole situation was falling sideways.
"If you are not upset, then why are you doing this?" He asked angrily.
Noah raised the divorce agreement and questioned Ari, "Do you think that this is funny? You cannot possibly be joking about this, Ari. Do you even know how troubled I was when you called me——"
"I am disappointed," before he could continue scolding her, Ari took a soft breath and then slowly lifted her head. Her gaze clashed with his angry one, with a snarl playing on his lips.
Keeping her expression the same, she continued to speak, "I will not speak or justify myself regarding our marriage as I know that you will not believe even if I were to explain myself."
His silence was agreement, and Ari curled her lips in a mocking sneer.
Without missing a heartbeat, she continued, "For three years I have given my all to you. I have taken care of your parents, sister, and even you—- if you asked me to sit, I would not dare to stand."
When Ari saw Noah's eyes harden, she wanted to drop her gaze, but somehow she managed to continue looking into his eyes. Her hands resting on her sides clenched into fists as she continued speaking, "For your sake, I even gave up my dream of becoming a doctor, but nothing moved your heart. Now that three years have passed, I am tired, Noah."
Ari knew that she was pushing Noah too much, but she continued to stare at him.
"Are you f*cking kidding me!?" He exploded, and the calm that he was so proud of snapped, causing Noah to reel back as he turned around and dragged a hand over his face.
Ari heard him take a sharp breath before he turned around and raised a finger in the air, "We are not having this discussion, Ari. You were the one who decided that we would get married, and now you cannot decide when we are going to end this marriage."
When Ari heard his words, she was almost fooled by his acting. He was acting as if he really cared about her and this marriage.
'Don't be naive,' the voice in her head spoke to her.
Ari sucked in a breath. She curled her lips into a sneer and then lowered her head as she played with the sleeves of her black dress before saying, "But I was not the one who decided to end this marriage."
When she raised her head, she saw Noah raise a brow at her confused.
"It was you. You kissed my sister and disrespected me in front of your friends and their girlfriends. I was never the one who ended this marriage, Noah. It was always you."
There. It was a K.O. The best way to get back at an egoistical and controlling jerk like Noah with a belief that they could never do wrong was to make sure that their flaws were laid open in front of them.
