DxD | Child of Ira

Reincarnation was a treasured dream for many people and I had been lucky enough to receive it. I was granted a wonderful family, plenty of wealth, and the blessing of magic but everything came at a cost. In this case, it was the intrinsic danger of the world where gods roamed freely and myth was merely a forgotten truth. I had been reborn in Highschool DxD. **** If you enjoy my work you can support me on patre*on.com/TrapOverlord for up to 12 chapters ahead.

Chapter 118

Magnus Rose was tired of this shit. First, he got forcefully pulled away from his job, then he got pushed into some spartan training program, and now he was fighting a literal god. He was an information guy, he wasn't the one fighting!

"What wrong old man? Is it too cold for your bones?" Smiling cutely and striking a small pose was a popular idol overseas. At least, that was what she was a few years ago. These days her name has reached all the way around the world.

"Lady Hoshino, please stay focused." Rossweisse, the Valkyrie granted to them by Odin himself, requested solemnly. She looked like a stone hearted beauty but from what he's gathered she was actually quite the weak hearted lady.

"I—uhm…!" Shyly looking between all the people in their little ground the small nun didn't know what to say at all. Asia Argenti, a holy woman of the church who was as benevolent as she was naive. She was quickly making a name for herself in the supernatural world.

"He's coming." The warning from Shirone came just before the searing heat that made the very atmosphere shiver. Crashing onto the ground in front of them was a giant of a man, a Titan from a bygone era.

"Humans, devils, Valkyrie, and a Yokai. You have quite the array of people. Back in my day, such a group would be impossible." Hearty laughter emanated from the Titan whose thick skin was covered in scars. His torso was bare and his untamed beard and long hair reached his waist, a sincere smile on his face as he charged forward.

Backing away in a heartbeat Magnus gathered a few of the devices he brought with his Longinus to defend himself. However, Shirone beat him to it. Charging forward her tiny fist clashed with his own, wind exploding outward from the confrontation.

One would assume that because of the size difference, Shirone would be on the losing side of things but that was far from the case. It was the Titan who was sent flying through the air, his back facing the ground as his fingers were broken and tangled.

"Wow!" With pure amazement in his voice the Titan spoke gleefully, his voice as excited as a child's as he crashed into the ground. Almost as if reacting to his prone position on the ground a large bird dropped down from the heavens, its sharp beak piercing the titan's flesh.

Gently waving the bird away the titan stood up, the wound on his torso allowing his entrails to leak through just as much as blood did. None had known who he was upon seeing him but now it was obvious.

"Hey, hey, hey! I thought he was on our side!" Groaning in irritation Magnus pressed a hand to his face, the metal and technology morphing around him into one hell of a weapon. It was a basic rail gun that had been enhanced drastically.

"Sir Prometheus, please retreat. We have no qualms with you." Attempting diplomacy Rossweisse desperately hoped he would step away from the issue. Though the man's legends were exaggerated these days it was undeniable that his gift of fire was substantial.

People had been using fire and flames long before him however when the world had entered an age of darkness and bone chilling nights took over the world it was he who distributed fire to the praying people, not the gods.

"Haha! I wish I could agree!" Laughing once more his actions completely opposed his words as he jumped to his feet, flames dancing around his outstretched palm for only a moment before a pillar of blazing heat charged at them.

It was almost instantaneous that Shirone jumped back and Rossweisse took her place, a wall of magical formula manifesting before the Valkyrie that effortlessly blocked the wall of fire. In that time, Magnus had made up his mind.

He wanted to take a while to determine whether combat was necessary since it wasn't the first choice but at this point, he could safely say it was the only option. If he had the time he would have liked to roll his eyes in irritation.

"Bird coming down!" Gleefully shouting in worry Prometheus charged forward, his shoulder crashing through the magical formula while the same bird from moments before dropped from the sky.

However, before it could reach them a thick silver pillar rose into the sky, an almost stellar type glow emanating from its fleeting existence. When the pillar was gone, so was the bird. Looking at the rude girl beside him Magnus was happy he didn't say anything in response to her insult.

"I'm not into old men." Quickly warning him with disgust in her eyes, Ai Hoshino took more amusement at his angered reaction than she should have. Laughing like a mean spirited child she turned the end of her rifle at Prometheus.

It was difficult to get a shot or rather it was impossible. Shirone was dealing with the titan's physical attacks while Rossweisse was blocking the magical side of things. Asia wasn't nearly as in her way as those two but to heal them she was fairly close.

"Hoshino, Magnus. We need you with Hades." The sly voice of their temporary commander echoed out beside the two, an aqua cube manifesting between the two. It wasn't part of the plan to separate the group so something must have been going wrong.

"Ok." Even with the casual tone of hers, it was obvious that she was entirely serious at the moment. Hades was no joking matter, he was the main point of worry for Damian and even after so much planning, there was still room for error. Of course, at worst, they would just have to stall.

Magnus' choice was even easier than her for one simple reason. He didn't have a choice. He was essentially a hired gun who instead of receiving payment was actually returning the favor to the employer. He didn't exactly feel like he could refuse.

In the end, it was less than a second later that a blue cube surrounded them and they vanished from the battlefield. Among the three combatants, it was only Shirone who noticed their disappearance which allowed her to do something daring.

"Nekomata Mode Level 3."
