Dream Cultivation

Patrick was a college student, it was his final year. He never really had any hardships, and that was driving him mad. He had an exercise to do in 2 weeks? He would do it 4 hours before the deadline. He had a semestral exam? He would learn the day before. He was bored, bored of life, and even going out with friends became dull. He wanted some challenges in his life, but there were none. He started reading novels like a mad man. He could finally escape this shitty world. Then came alcohol, immersion was even bigger. One day, after heavy drinking and reading. He found himself in a dream... Dream about cultivation, at least he thought so. ====================== This cover does not belong to me. Letter

"Is this some kind of a box?" He didn't know what was inside but decided to open it anyway. He lifted the lid and saw the insides.

Xing saw two scrolls and some kind of letter. He took them up but instead of checking them out, he hid them in his clothes. Better safe than sorry. He decided that he will also take the box with him. Xing didn't even bother to hide it. Even though it wasn't looking simple. It wasn't worth it, someone might see an irregular shape in his clothes and decide to search his whole body. But now, at most, it will work as a decoy.

After checking out the contents of the box he came back to plowing the soil. When he was done Xing planted all the seeds and then water them.

"Ah, finally done. Time to go home" He went down to the shed and returned the hoe. Told his parents that he is going back home.

And just like this while everyone was working he was slowly walking towards home.

"Halt!" When trying to go through the gate he was stopped. "What's inside that box?" Questioned the guard. "Nothing, I need something to store my things, so I took it from the shed on our farm." He lied quickly. "Can I take a look?" Another guard asked. "Sure, go ahead." And he gave him the box.

After checking it out they gave it back to him. "You may go." He nodded and walked away. Several dozen meters later he thought 'I knew something like that would happen. But they were probably just bored. I'm not surprised though.' Sun was scorching. People rarely were going through the gate, because most of them were still working in their respective fields. And they had to stay there and do nothing.

In no time Xing came home, he went directly to his room and placed everything on the bed. He decided to start with the letter because he supposed it was meant that way. He took it into his hand and began reading.

"Fated Human,

I hope you're still a mere mortal because I want you to inherit the cultivation technique. It contains two parts. The second part it's just a normal cultivation technique. But what truly matters is the first part.

It contains techniques that will help you open your pores. When you open your first pore you will enter the Pore opening realm. But that's not an actual realm. You are still mortal and you cannot cultivate, then why does it even exist? Even though you can't cultivate, you're preparing your body for cultivation.

As you may know, to cultivate you need to gather qi from the surroundings. But it must somehow enter your body. And that's when pores come to play. If they are clogged it takes more time for qi to enter your body and you even lose some in the process. When you open them they will enter your body much faster and losses are almost nonexistent. What's more, when you cultivate your dantian is a "magnet" and thanks to your open pores your "magnetic field" is bigger and stronger.

I don't know when you will read this, but it should be already forgotten realm. Well, maybe a handful of people know about it. Why? Because effects aren't clearly visible until you step into higher realms. And that's impossible for most people. So they decided that's a waste of time. Thus decline began. Of course, that's not the entire truth, but let's not talk about this.

Fate brought you to this little inheritance of mine. So you should be talented enough to open at least fifty percent of your pores. Don't even think about cultivation before. Of course, if you are persistent enough you should try to open as many as you can. Benefits will increase greatly because progress isn't linear. Good luck.

Oh, I almost forgot. Don't even bother with the second scroll until you become a Qi gathering realm cultivator, only then it could be useful to you. While at it, I'll give a piece of important information about the Qi gathering realm. Your main goal in this realm is to open meridians. There are nine stages. And in each one, you can open up to five meridians. Which in total gives you forty-five meridians. But don't even think about opening them all. That's impossible, at least with that cultivation. Of course, if you find a better cultivation technique, you can open more meridians. But at that point, you'll probably be in the realms above Qi gathering. So you would have to destroy your whole cultivation and start from the beginning. But who would be stupid enough to do something like that?

Once again, good luck on the road named cultivation."

"Whoa, it took me some time to read it through," He said with a smile on his face, and after a few seconds "HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I can cultivate now!" He was delighted. That was definitely a fortuitous encounter. Even though he couldn't cultivate in the near future. He didn't care. He knew how important the basics were.

He quickly grabbed the first scroll and opened it.

"Mortal Needle — Cultivation Technique

Let the needles jab you. Persist and thrive to become sharp as a needle and be like a needle in a haystack.

When you do that you will become a cultivator in mortal's clothing."

"Such a lame name. Who was stupid enough to name it like that?" The description was cool, at least for him. But name? It sucks. However in the next second, he completely forgets about that. There was something more important in his mind right now.

"It's time to comprehend Pore opening realm part of the cultivation! I'm so excited! I hope I'll be done before anyone comes back." And so he began.

Time passed. Five minutes, ten minutes, half an hour, an hour. After an hour and a half, he got enlightenment. His comprehension speed exploded. After fifteen more minutes, he understood everything.

"So that's how it is. I need to feel qi around me. Then attract it to me and transform it into tiny needles that will poke my pores. Thankfully I have this cultivation technique, otherwise, I would be close to impossible." He was fortunate that he found this technique, or else he wouldn't be able to do that. "I want to try it so badly. But I should be impatient. For now, I should keep this to myself for everyone's safety. And they might come back at any moment now."

He was sad, but he wasn't reckless. He placed the cultivation technique together with the letter inside the box. And looking at the last scroll "He said it won't be useful, but I can still check it out, no?" He lifted it and began reading.

"Ying-Yang Sutra..."

"That definitely won't be helpful right now"

==============================

Finally something about cultivation. I know the name of cultivation is shitty, but I wanted to use those two words. I've tried to think about a better name, but couldn't do it. Well, it's not like he will be using this name in every chapter. But if you have something better feel free to let me know. I know the letter was long but I wanted to say some more about the cultivation system in this novel. I don't know if it's good, but I guess we will see later. As always I'm sorry for all my mistakes and have a nice day!
