Chapter 07 - The Boat

I had not been able to sleep because of the excitement; I woke up very early, I saw that the door was half open, I looked for Lux and she wasn't there, I went out to look for my she-wolf.

I walked through the corridors but there was no sign of her. I decided to go to the kitchen and there was Lux, she was with Sir Harwin who was giving her bread in small pieces and Lux was wagging her tail while both of her paws were resting on one of his legs.

- "Good morning princess." - Said Sir smiling, - "I can tell you are up early." - He carefully got up so as not to step on my she-wolf who had now started to chase him.

- "Are you coming?" - I asked as I looked at him raising my head because of the height difference.

- "I would like to accompany you princess, but I can't, this time Sir Criston Cole and Queen Alicent will go, but don't worry about me, I'll be fine, Lux will take care of me, right Lux?" - He looked at the she-wolf who attempted to howl.

- "What a pity, I like it when you come with us, you tell me great stories." - I sighed.

- "When you come back I'll tell you another of Princess Shantell's adventures." - He smiled at me - "If I remember correctly I left off on her adventure in the free lands, the next one will be when she is trapped by the Dothraki."

- "Deal Sir." - I offered him my hand to seal the deal and he took my hand; his hand was much bigger than mine as we shook hands.

- "Do you want something to eat?" - He crouched down to my height - "The cooks are not up yet, I know how to make eggs and bread, as well as egg bread, two very good options."

- "Hmmm, I choose the second one." - I answered with a smile and he nodded.

- "Then an egg bread for Princess Alexandrya." - He got up and started to look for the ingredients.

I sat on one of the chairs while I was watching how Sir was cooking. Meanwhile, he was feeding pieces of bread to Lux, who was quite happy.

- "Ready." - Said Sir Harwin as he brought in a plate of scrambled eggs, then opened two loaves of bread and carefully placed the eggs inside them.

I began to eat the pieces of bread while Sir petted Lux.

- "I had a dog when I was younger." - He said while I ate my bread - "His name was Boots, one day I gave him a piece of meat; and he kept following me, he was homeless, he couldn't enter the house because Larys was allergic to dogs, more than boots he was a brown ball of hair, his paws were white."

- "What happened to boots?" - I asked with my mouth full.

- "My brother said he bit one of his canes, it wasn't Boots, Boots wasn't in the house." - Sigh - "Father said he couldn't go on with Boots so we had to give him away to a villager, I went every day to see him, he ran around the fields leading the sheep; until he passed away because of his age."

I stayed for a while until I finished eating, and then Sir accompanied me to my room, he took Lux and said that he would accompany him on his guard.

I started to change, I put on an outfit with pants, it wasn't a good idea to go with a dress to Dragonstone to choose an egg, more useful would be that outfit, so I got dressed and combed my hair. I started to tidy my room; I felt that if I made my bed I could save work for the people who helped with the maintenance of the castle.

When my mother came into my room she thought I was still asleep but when she saw me sitting on the floor with a book of stories that Sir Harwin had given me she smiled.

- "Lexy, my sunshine, it is time to go." - She said as she extended her hand to help me get up from the floor, I took it and got up carefully.

I started to walk beside her, she told me that my father had already left for the ship with my two brothers, also Viserys with Alicent, as well as my two uncles.

When we arrived at the boat I got on with my mother, the trip wouldn't be very slow since it was close; but it wouldn't be short either. 

- "Lexy, we are going to practice for when your dragon breaks the egg, ok?" - Said my father while he smiled at me.

- "Yes." - I said quite happily, I didn't go to the dragon training classes as often as Aemond did even though I didn't have one, I preferred to go with Helaena to look for insects around the castle, so I didn't know all the things that must be done to have a dragon.

- "Well, what should you do?" - He asked, looking at me.

- "Dracarys?" - I said as I looked at him with my head tilted to one side.

- "No, honey, that's for them to throw fire, we don't want them to throw fire."

- "Why?"

- "Because fire burns."

- "Yes I know, but... Why don't we want them to throw fire?"

- "Because... you are still learning how to control a dragon Lexy, first you must tame it and then command it." 

- "I don't want to command a dragon; I don't want to give it orders, dragons shouldn't be commanded." - I answered.

- "There are many dragons that don't have masters and are not commanded, an example is the sheep thief, gray ghost, and cannibal." - He sighed and then caressed my cheek - "Shall we go on?" - He asked, and I nodded. - "Well, what should you say?"-

- "Doherras." - I said.

- "Yes... more or less, but it's not quite right, it's 'Dohaeras'." - Said my father correcting me.

- "Well, then I should say 'Dohaeras dragon'." 

- "Yes, but... what would you do if the dragon is a little upset?"

- "I tell him to calm down, then I give him a hug and a kiss on his cheek." - I smile.

- "No Alexandrya, no, it doesn't work like that, the first part was fine, but you have to say it out loud Valyrian." - My father bent down until he was at the same height as me - "Do you remember?"

- "Lykiri." - I answered with some insecurity and my father nodded and kissed my forehead. 

- "That's right my little one." - He smiled - "What else is next?"

- "Dracarys." - I said smiling, I liked that word.

- "No, no, no, no, again, you can say everything but Dracarys, I will teach you that later, but first you must know the basics." - He answered sighing.

- "Lykiri, Dohaeras, Soves." - I answered while I listed those with my fingers.

- "Yes, exactly."

- "I don't want to go on." - I sighed - "I will go with Aegon and Aemond."

My father nodded and approached my mother, I walked carefully until I reached my uncles, Aegon was talking to Aemond.

- "To claim a dragon you must dance for him." - Said Aegon to Aemond.

- "Shut up, you suggest me anything else; and I'll throw you overboard." - Answered Aemond looking at his older brother badly.

- "Can you swim?" - I asked Aegon and he laughed. 

- "Lexy, I guess you do, after all you were a seahorse." - He said. 

- "Aegon!" - Alicent looked at Aegon and he shrugged his shoulders. 

- "I can swim, my father taught me." - I answered. 

- "How?" - Asked Aegon - "I was taught too."

- "We entered the water, and he told me what to do, he held me and after a while in the water he let me go, and I started to swim on my own." - I answered.

- "My father told me he would teach me, he stopped the ship, and then he threw me off and told me nothing." - Aegon answered - "Sir Criston Cole jumped in to carry me off when he saw that I didn't get out, but I did learn."

- "Luckily that day I told him I didn't want to go." - Said Aemond smiling.
