As it turned out, I didn't have much of an influence (at first) on the events of Dead Zone. Just like in the movie that I barely watched, three minions came to kidnap Gohan so that they could have the dragon ball on his hat while dad and I were swimming.
Just like in the movie, neither Chichi nor the Ox King could resist them, and Gohan was kidnapped. After that, dad left me with Chichi while he went to Kame House to inevitably fight Gohan's captors. Shortly after he left, the sky went dark from Shenron, so I ditched Chichi in the confusion and flew off to help.
By the time I got there, the situation had devolved into the 1 vs 2 with dad and Piccolo working side by side against the immortal idiot, just like in the movie, so I hid my power and waited for the right time to strike. At this point, I was probably twice as strong as Raditz will be when he gets to Earth, which would likely make my natural strength higher than Gohan's enraged strength.
I watched them as they slowly gained the upper hand, before the idiot finally opened the Dead Zone, just like in the movie. As soon as he opened the dead zone this time, I blasted him with a well timed Kamehameha from afar, pushing him inside just before Gohan's appearance, ending the battle right before the climax.
Dad was really proud of my Kamehameha. In fact, he told me that it was perfect, and Piccolo's exact words were "Not bad, kid," which was an impressive attitude adjustment for him at this point in time.
Unfortunately, Chichi didn't share their appreciation for my save. I was grounded for a month for my antics, and Chichi decided to spent the entire time lecturing me.
Three weeks later, I was doing the dishes as part of my punishment, when Chichi told me something that made me drop a plate.
"By the way, your father and brother are going to be heading off to meet up with some of his old fighting buddies, so they'll be gone all day. Since you're being punished, you'll stay here with me and Grandpa and study, alright?" When she told me that was when I dropped the plate that I was drying.
So it's starting. I was conflicted. I'd probably thought about this day hundreds of thousands of times since being reincarnated.
As it stood, I was stronger than dad by a lot, but dad's strength would be necessary for the future. I couldn't just be the only one with the strength to defeat whatever bad guys show up, after all.
For dad to start on that road, he needed to die today, and Gohan needed to be taken in by Piccolo. If that changes, then every single enemy from this day on, from Nappa to Beerus, would become almost solely my problem.
I needed to let my dad die today, without interfering, but I couldn't. The more time I spent with Goku, the more like a 'real' dad he felt. I'd never had a parent that truly cared about me in my past life, and I didn't even hate Chichi's overbearing nature anymore.
Losing my dad? Even if it was incredibly selfish of me, I wanted to prevent it. I didn't care if he never met King Kai, I didn't want to lose him.
"Well, We'll get going now. Bye Chichi, bye Hanna!" I made sure to hug dad before he left, just in case.
I pretended everything was all right, even as my tail, wrapped around my waist, tightened to the point where I had trouble breathing, I didn't stop dad and Gohan from leaving. I pretended to listen to Chichi telling me all about what a 'proper lady' I'd become, and all of her dreams for a future that I didn't want while I tracked Raditz's movements by sensing, suppressing my power even more than usual all the while.
Sure enough, I felt Raditz land on Kame Island. He stayed there for a while, and took Gohan with him when he left. The moment that he hit dad, I started to race out of the door, but Chichi and the Ox King stopped me.
"Where do you think you're going, young lady?"
"Dad's in trouble! I can feel it!" I pleaded.
"Your father can handle himself! I need you to study so that you grow up into a proper lady who contributes to society."
"She's right, Hanna. Your father is the strongest guy on the planet. I can't even imagine him in trouble."
"Get out of my way! I have to help daddy!" The battle had already started. If I left now, I'd just barely make it. I tried to run past them, but grandpa grabbed me. After a few more minutes of trying to convince them, I could feel the battle getting closer to its inevitable end, so I finally just muscled past them and blasted out the door.
I didn't make it in time in the end. I wasted too much time arguing with Chichi. By the time I got there…
"Special Beam Cannon… Fire!" I watched Piccolo deliver the killing blow from afar, not even my full powered speed capable of saving daddy from
"Kakarot!" Raditz screamed as the beam hit. I couldn't move. Everything stopped. "Curse… You…" They fell to the ground.
"Kakarot… How could he? It makes no sense! The fool… Now we're both dead…" I wanted to fly up to them. Tell him goodbye, but my feet remained rooted in place as Piccolo and Raditz had their last talk. The talk that would inevitably bring Vegeta and Nappa to Earth.
"No. You die alone. Goku won't be gone for long, I'm guessing his friends will see to it he's back within the week."
"What? That's impossible! Tell me how?"
Piccolo scoffs, "Gladly. On this planet, we have something that we call the Dragon Balls. When all seven balls are gathered together, they have the power to grant any wish, and that includes bringing the dead back to life. So, you see, it's Goku that will have the last laugh."
Raditz weakly chuckles. "No… I'm afraid you're wrong, green man. This device on my face, it's also a transmitter. My Saiyan comrades will hear every word. The two of them will come. They will… I know they will. And once they arrive, you'll be powerless to stop them. There's nothing you can do. They'll seek out these dragon balls and they'll destroy everything in their path. You… And everything on this planet. They'll destroy you all." He explains smugly.
"When!? When will they come?" Dad struggles to ask, How long will it take them… to get here?"
"One year… Funny thing is, they're much stronger than me."
"Stronger? One year? Oh no." Piccolo says mostly to himself.
"So enjoy this little victory of yours today. It means… It means nothing. You're as good as dead." Raditz laughs. "I only hope… I'm back in time to see it happen. Don't look so upset. We can't all have the last laugh." I wince as Piccolo finishes him off, but I don't look away.
"Thanks for the warning. We'll deal with your Saiyan friends the same way we dealt with you. Goku, it's over. He's gone." Piccolo and I both look up, watching the others arrive from Kame House.
"Dad…" I fly up to dad's dying body.
"Hanna… Take care of your mom for me, alright?"
"Dad, I'm gonna get stronger. I promise."
"Is Gohan okay?" Dad asks.
"He's alive. He'll be fine." Piccolo answers for me.
"That's good… Chichi would kill me if something bad happened..."
"Piccolo… Thank you…"
"GOKUUU!!!" Krillin comes up behind me and hugs my dying dad, "You'll be fine, buddy, we're gonna get you help. You'll pull through."
"Not this time, buddy… Krillin, take care of Gohan and Hanna for me, alright?"
"Alright… I promise. We'll gather the dragon balls and wish you back. We already have three, after all."
"See you soon." Dad died with that. The only sound left was that of Krillin's screams as something inside me snapped.
After that, dad's body disappeared and the others started talking, but I just stared at my dad's body as Bulma had Krillin pull the scouter off of Raditz's face and start tinkering with it.
"Now let's get back to Master Roshi's. Once I fix this, we can find Yamcha, and maybe Tien, too." Bulma said.
"Well let's get going, then. We have a lot of work to do." Roshi agreed.
"Okay, but we should take Gohan and Hanna home on the way."
"Yeah, and while we're at it, we can pick up the other two dragon balls that Goku found." Krillin said.
Roshi turned to Piccolo.
"Piccolo… I guess we'll be seeing you…." Piccolo was too focused on regenerating his arm to notice.
Once he was finished, Krillin muttered, "Well… That's a handy trick."
Piccolo turned to the others. "Before you leave, I have a request to make. This'll sound strange, but I want you to put your emotions aside. I want Goku's children to come with me for special training."
Everyone started to argue against him, but I silenced them.
"Take Gohan. I'm going somewhere else to train. By myself."
"Hanna, you can't just…" Krillin started to object to my decision, but I released a bit of my power, stunning him silent.
"Good luck, Piccolo." Not knowing what to do, Piccolo just gave me a little nod as he used his energy to pick Gohan up. Bulma loudly objected to him, but nobody dared stop Piccolo from flying off with Gohan in tow.
"Are you-" Krillin tried to stop me from running off, probably out of fear of my mother, but I stopped him with another light intimidation, before blasting off myself.
