As soon as we began to make the wish to bring my dad back, we encountered a problem. The fact that it would end up taking multiple wishes to bring him back wasn't the problem. As soon as that problem had come up, Pigero had happily ceded his spot on the revival board so that we could do so. After all, he didn't have any family or friends other than me at the moment, so coming back to life wasn't as big a deal for him as it was for Yamcha, since he could get stronger at King Kai's place.
No. The problem was.
"The individual Goku cannot be brought to Earth's Check-in Station in the spirit realm."
"But why not!?" Bulma shouted at the buff Dragon.
"Because he's alive! If I were to bring him there, he'd have to die!" The dragon shouted back. This was met with mixed reactions, mainly shock.
"I knew it!" Krillin pumped his fist into the air, hearing it.
"Alright, then! If Goku's alive, then let's just ask Shenron to bring him here, then!" Bulma declared. Elder Moori translated the wish for us, but the Dragon failed once again.
"The individual Goku has resisted being transported to this place. He says that he'll come back later." Porunga declared.
"WHAT!? And why is that?! Why wouldn't Goku want to come home to his wife and children!? BRING MY HUSBAND BACK RIGHT THIS INSTANT, DRAGON!" My charming mother screamed at the nonresponsive Dragon.
"It's pretty obvious, right!? He's scared. I'd be too." Oolong muttered to himself.
"That's for sure. Goku's obviously terrified of the one thing stronger than a Super Saiyan! His wife!" Roshi yelled in realization. I used one hand to facepalm while I wrapped my other arm around my mom, Luckily, Uncle Raditz was there to help me stop her before she turned Master Roshi into Master Roshi soup.
"Make your other two wishes! I'm getting tired." Porunga declared stingily. I'd had Shay tell him to count the message from Goku as a wish so that we didn't end up having to argue over the last free wish, since the Namekians wanted to spend four months on Earth.
There weren't any problems with using the other two wishes to bring Yamcha and Pigero back to life. Though in the end, Raditz and Gohan had to hold me back after Yamcha was brought back. This was because he'd been brought back right above my kitchen ceiling, which he'd then fallen through, before cracking through the floor as well, finally landing in the storage area basement of the dojo. I'd been absolutely livid about that since Pigero and I had built all of that ourselves by hand, but he'd managed to just barely appease me by promising to help the Namekians fix it up.
...
"Nrrgh." Goku groaned as he awoke, mere hours after the battle on Namek. His head felt like someone was holding a sledgehammer gun to it and repeatedly pressing the trigger.
Looking at the ship around him, it all began to come back to the Saiyan. After he'd managed to get inside the ship, back on Namek, the door had only barely begun to close when Goku had felt the floor drop out on him. As the door slowly closed, Goku had been thrown around the ship far more violently than anything Frieza had managed to do to him. The last thing that he'd remembered was slamming his head into the panel that controlled the artificial gravity before everything had gone dark.
"At least I'm alive." Goku muttered to himself, rubbing the back of his head. His hand came away slick with blood, which he wiped against his pants. "So there's a dent in my head, but not in the equipment, huh? Talk about quality!" He couldn't help but note, running his hand against one of the panels that he remembered slamming his head against. Naturally, it was Core Girl quality. A mere Super Saiyan could never hope to damage it.
"I guess I should get something to eat... and take a bath." Thinking about food first and foremost, Goku reluctantly admitted to himself that he probably needed to clean the wound in the back of his head. He could practically hear Chichi screaming in his ear about how he'd die if the wound got infected. "Man, I already miss her so much."
The ship was an absolute mess, but all the necessities were still where they should be. After a bath and a large meal, Goku's attention finally strayed to the thing he'd been ignoring. "Well... I guess I should figure out what planet I'm on. It's definitely not Earth, but I can still sense a bunch of energy signatures outside."
After leaving his ship, Goku turned it into a capsule before he headed out. "Man, I'm not really sure where to go. I guess the obvious thing is to go to the strongest energy signature on the planet... That way?"
The ship had landed in the middle of a large, deserted mountain range. The energy signature that Goku was looking for was rather far away, too.
Unbeknownst to Goku, he was on the planet Yardrat.
In canon, Goku had landed on Yardrat basically dead. They'd pulled him out of his capsule themselves before nursing him back to health. The person that had then taught Goku the famous Instant Transmission skill was the person that he was flying toward right now. Elder Pybara. Pybara led a large settlement on Yardrat, and was said to be the foremost master on Spirit Control in the galaxy.
But he wasn't. Not really. Hanna had only learned that during her sightseeing via the Well. Deep beneath the mountains of Yardrat, the true master of Spirit Control was in a different league altogether. That unfortunately included his bad personality. The likely reason that he'd never shown himself in the canon was because he took his nonintervention very seriously. But now, he was going to come face-to-face with Goku whether he wanted to or not.
