Chapter 3

The venue where the event is being held is about 30 minutes drive from her house and the time is already a quarter to five. She knew she was going to be late but not this much.

As the driver arrived at the destination, Eva told Lilian she could go home for the day and told her driver to come and pick her up at 12 am. Eva checked herself in the mirror once again before getting out. The charity event Madam Cole invited her to is a Cancer Research charity event and she tries to attend every year. Madam Cole's son died of Acute Lymphocytic Leukaemia six years ago and she started this charity on behalf of her son to raise money for people in need of money and to aid the research in finding a cure for most cancer-related illnesses.

At the entrance, a waitress was waiting to take the guests to their tables which were in groups of 4 on each table. As she entered she could feel some stare but her confidence and ego wouldn't allow her to shy away, Eva noticed that most people that were present in the hall were big shots and she feels honored to be invited as well. As the waitress motioned for her to sit, she caught sight of the two most annoying people "Mia and Mya Williams" her 22-year-old twin cousins. They are always up to no good bullies, spoilt brats, and arrogant especially when they are together. As she sat down, she nodded to acknowledge her saying hello but the twins looked at her with disgust.

"Look who we have here Mia"

"Didn't know Madam Cole invites hoes to this event" Mia responded

"She even added her on the Williams table" Mya exclaimed

"Does she not know she is the black sheep of the family?" Mya continued

"Well now my mood is changed because of this" Mia mumbled

"Don't let your mood change because of her, remember we are here to represent dad and he won't be too pleased to know we fought here," Mya said whispering to her sister and she nodded in agreement and remembered their father's warning before they leaving the house to behave themselves and not make any trouble if not he would cut their allowances, since of course, they don't want that they decided to let their cousin alone.

Eva already knew that is what the twins are known for, so she couldn't be bothered replying to them.

"Long time Cous beautiful as always" Joey Williams greeted Eva. Joey is also one of her cousins but he's older than her by 3yrs and is cool with Eva. He's got a law firm in Y city, where he also is the CEO of his company. he believes in working hard for your own money and not waiting for any family inheritance. That's why he can respect Eva for her bold decision despite the odds against her and he's also close with their grandma.

"Yeah I know right, its been ages, how are you, and how's work?" Eva asked

"You never changed... he chuckled...I'm fine thanks and work is doing great thanks" Joey answered

"How's Rosie? I'm sure shes now a big girl now and hope her mouth isn't as sharp as her mothers" he asked jokingly,

"She's fine, her mouth is definitely sharp I'm her mother after all" Eva responded

The twins were already fuming because when they spoke to her, she didn't reply to them at all.

"how rude can a human being be" Mya croak

"I know right, no respect" Mia hissed

Eva and Joey continued their conversation ignoring the twins.

"when next will you visit, I'm sure Rosie would love to see you again, and by the grandma is over at my place. shes staying for a week"

"oh I was planning to go back to Y city tomorrow morning since I'm free for the next few days and since grandma is at yours' I would use the opportunity to see her and my little princess"

"hope you are not working tomorrow?" Joey asked

"well I am but my secretary should be able to handle the tasks since there's no urgent task on ground" Eva replied.

"if that's the case, I will be coming tomorrow," Joey said...Eva nodded to confirm.

Just next to the Williams table was a handsome man with clean and clear skin, and chiseled features, with a haughty aura oozing around him, he was dressed in a navy blue tuxedo with a burgundy tie and handkerchief in the chest pocket. He looks like a model out on a runway. No wonder he is one of the most voted handsome bachelors in the country and it no other than Andrew Thompsons, popularly called Addy by his friends and families.
