Clash!

Immediately gunshots started being fired upon him, he dodged every single one of them after all Mathew was a Level 90 warrior. He was one of the strongest humans in the entirety of the human race, a Maverick. A title, given only to those who reached prowess level of 90 and above. Only a handful of people could say they were more powerful than him.

Matthew slashed the incoming bullets with his short dagger and made his way forward towards the sniper team. He had to get rid of them in case they targeted his family.

The dagger that Matthew carried was nothing special it was something his teacher had given him when they were on a mission as a last memento just before dying. The dagger was rusty on its edges and had a black obsidian handle it was primordial looking but nothing special.

Matthew tried opening his space watch where he kept all his gears for emergency purposes but as suspected he couldn't open the personal space. "Looks like a jamming formation"

Matthew was puzzled as to who exactly was so daring to pull off such a high-level assassination on him. After all, he was in a dungeon portal far away from his home planet.

There could only be two possible ways to come here either to enter through the portal gate situated in the capital city of Beljaris which was almost impossible or the enemy had actually taken the efforts to make a special trip in a space vessel to reach his co-ordinates directly through outer space.

Matthew while he was speculating about the scenario didn't stop until he caught up with the sniper team and started killing them one by one.

It was as if he was teleporting no one could see him there was only a special tear each time he swung his dagger popping heads off.

The entire team of Snipers had been annihilated. Matthew's wound from the earlier sniper was healing visibly.

But just at that moment, Mathew sensed a powerful being approach him,

A peal of obnoxious laughter filled the empty park

"hihihi General Mathew nice to meet you finally"

Mathew was surprised to see a prince of the Mauryan Empire it was now clear after all except for the two big empires there weren't many organizations capable enough to allocate this many resources for an assassination.

"why is the Maurya empire doing this"Matthew asked warily.

Martin just laughed and ordered his soldiers to attack

"Mathew put on a good show and I may just tell you why"

Mathew had long heard of the Mauryan Viper's crooked ways of doing stuff so he played along, for now, to seek out answers as he started his killing spree again.

The soldiers started surrounding him cautiously and commenced their attack together in a formation.

Matthew couldn't help but feel a bit of pity for them after all going against a Maverick in spite being just level 70 soldier was nothing more than a sure shot suicide but yet they followed orders unhesitatingly even if that was just for Martin's entertainment.

The soldiers were heavily equipped with red-gold armors with Maurya empire's sigil on it, the mark of the devil-a star inscribed in a circle. The soldiers were carrying plasma sabers with them but before they could even swing their swords Matthew had already disappeared in front of them.

And not long after a buzz sounded came off in the air as all the soldiers fell down with their eyes rolled back.

Soul Attack!

Martin's eyes shone brightly as he started clapping and laughing,

"hihihi Mathew you haven't disappointed me so let's see….all I can tell you is The Maurya empire and the bastardly Alexia empire will be declaring war on Beljaris soon and my job is to ensure a smooth sailing victory with minimal losses"

Mathew's eyes widened in horror he knew the Maurya and the Alexia empires had bad blood of thousands of years but now they had joined hands together to annex Beljaris this was shocking news.

Matthew knew if this was really true then he had to report this to Silva asap.

Boom!

But right then another magic bullet scraped passed Matthew as he dodged it, Martin was surprised after all it was a magic bullet fired from a sniper at almost a point-blank range yet Matthew dodged it.

Martin then became a little serious "Mathew lets do this one on one"

Mathew without giving any warning ran towards Martin aiming to end the battle as soon as possible but just as he reached Martin a figure flashed right in front of him punching him in his abdomen the punch was so fast that Matthew couldn't even see it.

Boom!

Matthew was shot away for 15m before he could stop the momentum of this attack. As soon as he saw the bearded figure who punched him Matthew's gaze turned heavy. Lord Dallum, level 92 Fire mage also known as Fire God Dallum. One of the elders of the Maurya Empire.

Martin started laughing hiding behind Dallum's back as he spoke

"I never thought you would trust my words oh my I am so touched" Martin then gave a nefarious smile and continued speaking "I hope The Great General Matthew hasn't given up yet or this would be so boring."

Matthew took a deep breath, he knew the only chance for survival of his family existed if he could kill Dallum and there were no other options.

Dallum looked at Matthew before floating upon the sky, only warriors and mages above level 90 could freely float in the sky. Matthew wanted to stay as close to ground as possible so that he could monitor his family and prevent the soldiers from searching for them whenever required but alas!

The fight began Matthew rushed forward with horrifyingly great speed, while Dalllum calmly watched before striking a punch against Matthew.

Their fists collided sending a ripple outwards, the pressure from their auras made the ground crack and shake. Fiery Red and lightning blue lights could be seen dancing in the sky even the starlight that illuminated the portal ground was getting foreshadowed.

Each level after 90 was a small realm in itself yet Matthew was fighting on equal footing with Dallum.

Clash after Clash occurred as everyone stood stupendously watching the skies change colors.

Dallum's clothes were red there were cuts everywhere Matthew was much worse parts of his body were burned and spurted out blood from time to time.

Dallum's gaze was now serious, "Matthew I must say you are quite talented for holding up this far but it all ends here"

Matthew could feel Dallums power increasing his aura becoming thicker each passing second. Dallum has activated the secret skill of Maurya 'Devil summoning', a berserk skill.

Matthew's breathing was heavy he knew he had to end this before Dallum could gain the upper hand. Matthew then pierced his heart with his rusty dagger and drew a magic circle in the air with his blood.

'Core Release'

It was a move taught to him by his teacher which was a taboo skill. Every person was attuned to a single element so they could only control those elements from the atmosphere. Matthew's element was lightning but after using the taboo skill the user could gain access to all elements from the atmosphere at the cost of the degradation of the core. Although theoretical one could use all elements that didn't necessarily mean their understanding of that element was huge enough to use skills of different elements.

Both stood a while before the final clash began.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

There were non-stop sonic booms reverberating in the sky, spacial cracks which were once a rare sight were abundant right now. Lightning arcs could be seen flying in the sky. Dallum and Mathew were exchanging thousands of moves in a second.

Dallum's eyes showed a bit of fear right now, after all, he was fighting for just a mission while Matthew had everything on the line. The difference in their determination was clearly affecting Dallums judgment after all if he used any more of his powers he would be causing permanent damage to himself.

This slight bit of hesitation was more than enough for Matthew to deliver a lightning strike.

Sizzle!

An arm fell from the sky along with the splatter of blood which quickly vaporized due to the heat present in the atmosphere because of the non-stop release of energy from their battle.

The fight scene may come off a bit superficial to some of you as it should be.

But bare with me for a while because i want to describe fights happening in the future in a sophisticated manner which innvolve using laws of nature and magic like velocity, gravity, momentum along with a tinge of psychological analysis of opponents mixed in instead of just describing, "Matthew punched Dallum but he dodged and countered...."

I have not done it here as i would have to explain the laws of magic and science as prerequisite

Which i would do progressingly through the story.
