Suspension

I woke up to a vast, desolate plain stretching out before me. Endless blades of grass swayed in the breeze, the only sign of movement in this empty landscape. The air was crisp and fresh, carrying the scent of a sunny spring day.

As I wandered aimlessly, a figure appeared before me. Its voice was distorted, sending shivers down my spine.

"Do you know where you are?" the figure asked.

I shook my head, taking in my surroundings once more. "Does it look like I know where I am?"

"This is the Plane of Oblivion," the figure said. "A realm that exceeds the human world."

"Why am I here? Am I even alive?" I asked.

"Do not think of it like you are dead," the figure replied. "You are still very well and alive. Think of this as an inner conscious that you can turn to whenever you need it."

I frowned, trying to make sense of the situation. "Why was I given the honor of being able to come here? I don't understand it."

"With due time, you will understand the privileges that you are given," the figure said cryptically.

"Who are you anyways?" I asked.

"You'll be able to figure that out in our next meeting, whenever that occurs. Goodbye for now... Sora Katayama."

"What did you just say-" I trailed off as I woke up in my bed. It was the morning of the second day of my suspension.

I touched my face and realized blood was flowing from my nose. How did that happen?

"Sora, I came in here because I sensed your heartbeat became unsteady. Is everything okay?" a voice asked.

I looked up to see one of headmaster William's guards standing before me. He had been guarding me since the incident between me and Mr. Brown occurred.

"In the days that you have been guarding me, you haven't told me your name once. What is your name?" I asked him.

"I have no name. I was a spirit summoned by Headmaster Williams," the guard replied.

"I'll give you a name then. How about... Reagan?" I suggested.

"I'm honored to be given a name by you, Sora," Reagan said.

"There is no reason to. I'm just another kid," I said.

But Reagan seemed like a name that would suit him. He was wise and virtuous, and I believed it fit him best.

As I spoke those words, Reagan began to tremble and sweat, struggling to say a sentence. I grabbed his shoulder and hugged him. I didn't know what he went through before he got summoned to this world, but it must've been hard for him.

"The trials... they forced me to do it..." Reagan whispered.

"Reagan, don't speak anymore. I understand what you went through must've been painful. No matter what, if you trust me with your life, I will gladly trust you with mine," I said.

As Reagan let go of me, he gave me a smile and sniffled. "Thank you, Sora. These words have enlightened me beyond comprehension. I will trust you with my life as you trust me with yours."

"I'm glad to hear that," I said with a smile.

LEO POV:

As I sat in class, the monotony of the lecture was palpable. The absence of Sora was all too apparent. He always managed to prove everyone wrong and exceed their expectations. Without him, everything seemed dull and uninspiring.

But then the topic of the lecture changed to something different, something intriguing. Oblivion and Infinity magic were the focus of the lesson. The teacher spoke about their immense power and rarity. Only two people in the world were known to have the ability to harness these magics through the Oblivion crystal and Infinity crystal.

I couldn't help but wonder about the individuals who possessed such incredible abilities. How old were they? What did they look like? What did it feel like to have such power coursing through their veins?

The teacher went on to explain that those who had awakened their crystal became an instant target of the world. They could sense other crystals that were not awakened yet and attempt to take them from their users, creating the ultimate magic affinity known as Divinity magic. Those who acquired this magic were considered divine beings who exceeded the mortal plane.

"But what happened when a user of that magic died?" Myra asked. The teacher replied that they would be reincarnated into another body, their magic never leaving them.

Curiosity consumed me as I asked if there was any way to acquire this magic besides being born with it. The teacher responded that there were rare instances where it was possible to synthetically create an Oblivion or Infinity crystal. However, the sacrifices required to do so were deemed unethical and had most likely never been attempted.

My mind raced with the possibilities. If someone had managed to create a synthetic crystal, that would mean there could be up to four users, or maybe even more. But how could we be sure if there was a synthetically created crystal out there?

I posed the question to the teacher, who admitted she didn't know. But I couldn't help but feel that in a world as cruel as ours, someone must have attempted it. There had to be at least one synthetic crystal in existence.

The teacher countered my speculation, saying that even if a synthetic crystal existed, it wouldn't have the same amount of magical capacity as an authentic crystal. As the lecture continued, my mind became overwhelmed with thoughts of magic and crystals. But amidst it all, I couldn't shake the feeling of missing Sora and wondering what he was doing at that moment.
