Escape

Da da da

Who's footsteps were those?

Jiu Li quickly got to work, using his lockpicking skills to open the door and free his "sister".

Cling!

Jiu Li's "sister" was out. There was nontime to celebrate, they could be caught at anytime.

Da da da

The footsteps seemed more urgent, as if the person was in a rush. As if realizing that it was heading in their direction, both Jiu Li and his "sister" turned pale. They found a place to hide and stood still, holding their breath. After a while, the footsteps wandered away.

Jiu breathed a sigh of relief while his "sister" quickly gasped for air. The two of them quickly moved stealthily through the hideout, trying to avoid any guards or obstacles in their path.

As they made their way towards the exit, Jiu Li's sister couldn't help but feel grateful to this anonymous person.

"Who are you? How did you find me?"

she asked, her voice still shaking.

Jiu Li smiled softly, taking her hand and leading her towards the exit.

"I'll explain everything once we're out of here,"

he said, his voice calm and reassuring.

They finally made it to the exit, Jiu Li's face finally came to light. Jiu Li's sister was shocked, but now wasn't the time to gawk at Jiu Li and interrogate him. When they passed throught the door, Wei Feng was waiting for them outside.

Jiu Li's sister looked at Wei Feng with a mix of confusion and gratitude. I've never seen Jiu Li come into contact with this person, who is he, how did they meet? Wei Feng responded by giving her a small smile. They quickly made their way out of the hideout and back into the safety of the city.

Once they were a safe distance away, Jiu Li finally "explained" everything to Jiu Li's sister.

Jiu Li told her how he had been tracking down the kidnapper for weeks. He "explained" (lied) about how he had met Wei Feng, who had offered to help. He "explained"(partially lied) that Wei Feng was a skilled martial artist and had helped distract the guards while Jiu Li rescued her.

Surprisingly Jiu Li's sister was gullible as Jiu Li's sister listened intently to their fabricated story, her eyes glistening and widening in amazement and admiration at their bravery and resourcefulness.

She couldn't believe that her brother could have changed that drastically due to amnesia and had risked so much to rescue her, and was grateful beyond words. Jiu Li's sister hugged both Jiu Li and Wei Feng, thanking them profusely for their help.

Wei Feng smiled shyly, feeling a bit awkward at the sudden display of affection.

Jiu Li, on the other hand, embraced his sister tightly, tears streaming down his face. He had thought he fail to protect another "sister", but now she was safe and sound in his arms.

After a few moments, Jiu Li wiped his tears away and suggested he and Wei Feng head back to his place to discuss "private matters" while Jiu Li's sister could be sent back to the Li's Residence to rest and recover both physically and mentally.
