Chapter 31 : Trouble

𝒁𝑬𝑲𝑬'𝒔 𝑷𝑶𝑽 ————————————

Clara is seriously annoying the heck out of me ever since she stepped her foot into the class, is this why she and Clover are sisters? Equally annoying and dumb? Did Clover always have a sister?

I don't recall ever seeing Clara anywhere during the first time I met Clover nor was she at the house the other time, the house of theirs is practically empty 24/7 I guess.

Do they not stay together? Questions were popping into my mind but I shook the thoughts off as it didn't concern me and I didn't want to know about them at all.

Clara even came late for the lesson and gave a possible excuse saying that she was lost even though our class is just at the same level as the cafeteria so she wouldn't even be lost.

I was focused during the lesson but I could hear Matteo mumbling to himself at the back, I took a peek behind me to see that Clover wasn't in her seat. Right, I didn't see her ever since lunchtime...and I didn't notice that...

"Hey Zeke, do you know how to do this math question?" Clara asked as she shoved the piece of math paper into my hands. I ignored her and turned to Matteo.

"What are you doing?"

"Huh? Oh I'm just worried for Clover, she hasn't came back since lunch and she said she had to go to the washroom but this is taking way too long." Matteo explained even though I didn't ask for it. Clover has been gone since lunch, she didn't get into trouble, did she?

"Hey Zeke, I need help~ the teacher said we are supposed to hand up the paper to her by the end of the lesson." Clara pulled my attention back to her paper, making me roll my eyes at her. She was okay with math so why does she need help?

"Do it yourself, this needs the Brian's up here to simply think." I pointed to my head and looked away from her.

"Yes, Matteo?"

"May I go look for Clover?"

"Oh yea, sure. Where did she go again?"

"The washroom?"

"Ah okay, ask if she's feeling okay and if she's not then bring her to rest at the infirmary room and come back to tell me." Matteo nodded his head as he stood up and hurried out the glass to find Clover.

I would want to go along but she isn't my partner anymore and now I have to deal with her sister instead...A thing that is different about Clover from her sister is that she at least knows how to keep her mouth shut but Clara is just blabbering away-

"How do you-"

"You take this and multiply with this before you square root it to get the answer..." I answered her, making to stop with her questioning as she smiled at me before taking back her paper and started doing the question.

I minded my own business since I was done with my math worksheet and the teacher allowed some time for us to do it.

I sighed, looking out the window of the classroom that showed the greenery of the trees, leaves, and grass.

"How about this one? Do you multiply it-" Clara didn't even get to finish her sentence when the class door slid open at the speed of light, which attracted the attention of the students.

Matteo was panting hard as he tried to catch his breath, hands on his knees to support himself. The teacher stared at him curiously as to why he was panting hard for air.

"What happened Matteo? How is Clover?"

"She...she"

"She what?"

"She-"

"Hey, Zeke how do you do this?" Clara interrupted, trying to get my attention but I ignored her and tried to catch what was Matteo trying to tell the teacher. Great I think I missed it as the teacher hurriedly went over to Matteo as she said something to him.

"Class continue your work and don't cause trouble!" The teacher told us before heading out of the classroom, I stared at them through the windows as they slowly disappeared.

"Are you-"

"Do it yourself." I cut her off, standing up from my seat, and was about to walk away when Clara grabbed my wrists and made me turn around.

"Where are you going?"

"None of your business." I brushed her hand off of my wrist and went straight out of the class doors. I looked around the area as I tried to find where did Matteo bring the teacher to.

I don't know why I'm trying to find Clover but my heart just doesn't feel at ease knowing that maybe something bad happened to her.

I looked around the hallways, trying to find Matteo and our teacher but I didn't know where they went.

"Where did they go..."

"Stay here while I go get some medical things from the infirmary!" I heard the teacher's voice from the corner. I turned in that direction as the teacher zoom pat me quickly, heading over to the infirmary room.

I stared as I saw Clover on the floor with a bleeding head and she was unconscious, Matteo held her close to his chest and tried to wake her up. I ran over to them and kneeled beside Clover.

"What happened to her?!"

"I'm not too sure but it seemed like she fell from the stairs, seems like someone pushed her down forcefully..." forcefully? Did she make any enemies in this school that they had to do this to her?

"Didn't you say that she was just going to the washroom? How did she fall from the second-floor stairs?"

"Why do you need to know? Don't you not care about her?" Matteo pointed out, making me shut my mouth for a second. I know he's my long-time friend, he also has a point about that but I don't know why am I caring for her now...

"Just answer my question, Matteo."

"Why should I?"

"You-"

"Move out of the way boys!" Before I could say anything, our math teacher came back with a first aid kit in her hands. Matteo and I made way for her as she took out bandages and some rubbing alcohol to help aid her head injury.

Once she applied the medicine, she helped bandaged up Clover's head, and not long after our school's professional doctor arrived at the scene and took Clover in his arms, rushing over to the infirmary room.

We followed along but I stopped Matteo, grabbing his wrist, turning him around, and made him face me. He stared at me with a cold stern face.

"Tell me."

'Tell you what?" I rolled my eyes at his response, he isn't answering my question and his asking me more questions instead.

"Tell me why was she on the second floor when there's a washroom on the first floor?"

"Like I said, why would you care?" I grabbed his collar harshly as it was starting to irritate me a little that I'm not getting my answers directly from him.

"Stop asking me questions and just answer me..."

"If you care for her, then show her that you do, don't just ignore her like you hate her. Be honest with yourself, you like her right? Or should I say you love her?" I held his collar tightly, words weren't coming out of my mouth...I was somehow at loss for words. I let go of his collar as he breathed in the air.

"Just a heads up to you, if you don't treat her right, someone else will have to do that for you or maybe steal her away from you... and when that happens don't go wanting her back when you lose her one day cause you didn't do anything to keep that love she has for you."

Matteo spoke up confidently, his words made me stunned, his saying as if I would really lose her one day. Soulmates are destined to be together and there's nothing that can change that so what in the world is he talking about...

"Do you like her by any chance...?" I asked, stopping Matteo in his tracks. He didn't turn around and he had his back facing me.

"Who knows? For all that I know is that I would do anything to keep that heart of hers beating, love her and treat her the way any precious girl should be treated if I were you. Maybe you should take some love advice..."

"What..." I could feel Matteo smiling, even though I can't see his face. After finishing his sentence, he hurried over to the infirmary room, leaving me standing by the hallway, dumbfounded.

"This is really...troubling..."
