DEMON SLAYER - HYBRID HUNTERS

For as long as humans have known, creatures like Demons, Fae’s, Shape-shifters, Witches were things of myths. Until one night, the selfish sacrifice of two people caused the four portals of the underworld to become unlocked. The veil that kept humans ignorant of the existence of supernatural’s lifted, and it plunges the world into utter fear and confusion. As expected of humans, they reacted first, causing more wars than need be and enforcing more havoc and misery on everyone. To stop the growing death that plagued earth, two sides banded together to attack one. Humans and supernatural’s were free to roam together day and night, surviving, working, and rebuilding to make earth the prosperous blue planet it once was. Only, this fairytale didn’t exactly start in peace… and well, we’re still waiting for the end of the story. As with every obstacle one overcomes in life, there lays another just a few feet’s away. Before true victory can be attained, both sides need to learn to work together for the safety of all. ~*~*~*~ Ten thousand years ago, I lived a happy, comfortable life with my granny who provided everything for me, only I was uprooted out of that life by the hands of a hardhearted man, and was forced into service for another man and his Kingdom which has done nothing good for me. I experienced life’s true brutality under his service and ended up losing my life. Given a second chance at revival, I promised myself to get back at the man who is responsible for the death card I was handed. At one point in my life, I had the chance to meet him and get my revenge, but I was too weak and immature to succeed. Instead, I got to experience an even bigger hell by his hands and suffered a traumatic fate. He tortured me to my very last breath, and my new body now has countless scars to show for it. He shaped me into the cold-hearted monster I have become today, and I’m going to make sure he gets a taste of his work. I’m going to make him pay for the lives he’s taken. I’m going to shove a hand deep into his chest, rip out his cold dark heart, and crush it in the palm of my hand with great satisfaction. I am Reed, and I am out… for Blood!

CHAPTER 17

Staring at the white blonde across the room, I sit by myself with my back against the wall. I wonder how I'm going to bring up a conversation of the both of us knowing each other previously.

Our head trainer hasn't arrived yet and as it seems, he's going to be incredibly late for our first class.

Through the most embarrassing fashion, I found out my host is afraid of needles and tends to have a panic attack when she sees one.

I have no idea if her body acted out of instinct or some part of her soul was aware of the situation, but once one of the females walked over to me to take my blood, I immediately grew dizzy at the sight of the needle and passed out in front of everyone.

I also have no idea what happened to my host in the past with needles, but whatever it was, it seemed to be written in my files.

When they went through the information on my files, I was immediately exempted from giving a blood sample. Once I woke up, I simply went through the other tests before I was escorted here to this practice room for training.

I've been staring at the blonde for the past 30mins ever since I got here, my mind replaying those memories I had in my head. It's so weird though, her reaction to my host in the present is a lot more hostile than her reaction to my host in the past.

Which only leads me to believe something pretty bad had happened between the both of them. But what could it be, and why do I have a feeling that her hostility involves me... not my host?

Pulled out of my thoughts by the vibration in my pocket, I pull out my phone in confusion and stared at the screen, seeing the name on display a groan leaves my lips and I wonder why the hell she's calling me.

Rising to my feet I walked out of the practice room and checked both ends of the passage to ensure no one is within hearing distance. Picking up, I didn't expect the angry shrill of her voice. "Penelope Aureola Reed!"

Cringing, I pull the cell away from my ear. Damn, I miss the days where messenger birds were the norm. If it weren't for the fact that I needed to blend in with this centuries modernity, I'll fucking chalk the flat device against a wall. "I thought I told you to call me last night?"

"Can you lower your voice, or do you want everyone to find out about my false identity." I hiss in anger, moving closer to the walls for a bit of privacy. "I'm sorry I forgot to call, but I was shot yesterday by a tranquillizer gun."

"What… how?" She demanded.

"Some idiot thought it would be wise to try and attack a Senior Elite Warrior, and in the process of getting his ass handed to him we were all shot."

There was a brief pause on her end before she releases a small sigh. "Fine." She grumbles. "I'm sorry I yelled, but you had me worried sick."

Orphaned at the age of 16, Penelope Aureola Reed living under the false name Aurora White got taken in by the sister of her mother after the both of them discovered one another.

For some reason, Penelope and her mother hid in some human community after the murder of her father when she was just 10 years old, and for even more unknown reasons, her mother cut off all contact with her family when she married Penelope's father.

Through sheer coincidence Penelope and her aunt, Victoria, found each other after the accident two years ago and the woman has clung to her niece protectively ever since.

Waking up from a coma and having to deal with the overbearing woman was harder than fighting on a battlefield, all I could think of when I first met her was when I'd have the opportunity to get away once training began for recruits.

"You don't need to be," I sigh. "I'm perfectly safe right here."

"Just because I know and agree with that statement doesn't mean it helps my paranoia. Anyways, I don't want to hold you up for long. I just called to make sure you're in one piece."

"I am, I swear."

"Good, I'll see you when I can."

I open my mouth to say goodbye but she already hung up before I could. Relieved, I turn to head back into the practice room and accidentally bumped into someone's hard chest.

Looking up to apologize, I freeze when my eyes connect with a pair of black pools. His entire pupil is so dark they practically look bottomless, and a shiver of unease runs down my spine when I realize I'm staring into the eyes of nothing other than a Dark Warlock.

I feel that familiar pound of a headache as my mind gets assaulted by a memory, and with a grimace, I grab onto my head tightly.
