"Eru, this is an enchantment created by our ancestors thousands of years ago. No one till date was able to activate at least one of these spells," Her father said with an exited expression.
Ambai still did not understand though, didn't the mages use enchantment as well? How is the one she drew so different and special? Just because it was created by an elder.
She voiced all her doubts to her father. He laughed loudly and lifted her in a hug.
"Kid, how could you not know? Mages use spiritual power to draw enchantment, and the one you drew used soul power. It's very, very difficult to even manifest soul power." He said.
Ambai tilted her head with a confused expression. "Soul power? Ahm I still don't understand," she whispered.
At this point she felt dumb.
Rukle chuckled and pulled her to the floor. "See this silver glow," he pointed to the glowing enchantment, "that is soul power. Even after thousands of years, No mage in Miriafa had been able to harness this power,"
"Ohhh, this silver glowy thing. It just appeared when I calmed myself down," she said and closed her eyes. She thought back to the calming memories. Her breathing slowed down and her body felt light and airy.
She heard a soft gasp next to her.
"Eru, how… how are you…. I can't believe it. Can you teach me?" her father enthusiastically held her shoulders. His eyes were even gleaming in anticipation.
It was little too overwhelming to be honest, so she crawled away from him. "Maybe…. But I don't know how. The book just said for me to calm down and I did. Then my body started glowing silver," she said.
She obliviously could not tell him that she was reminiscing about her memory from her previous life to get that silver glow, so she lied conveniently.
Her father held his chin in contemplation.
'Secret is to calm down, ah. If I could try, I would be able to harness the power to. This way I can protect Eru, Rukle thought. He also sat crossed legged and closed his eyes. He slowed down his breathing. But still, he was not able to get that glowing surface around him.
He opened his eyes and let out a breath of disappointment.
"I guess it's not that easy….. Sorry about that," Ambai whispered and patted his shoulders.
"It's okay kiddo, it's good that you can use this power. Now you can protect yourself efficiently," he said with a wide smirk.
"Yeah," she cheerfully shouted.
Rukle led her to his study and made her sit on the couch. "Now lets talk about serious stuff. Even if you are able to harness it, you need appropriate training to do so."
"Mnn hmm, I think so too. I will get trained by the mages here," she said with an excitement.
"No,"
Ambai was really confused now, 'Didn't he just say that she needs to be trained? Then why is he rejecting,' she thought. "Why not?"
"We are in perilous times. I don't trust anyone here." Rukle said with a solemn expression.
She nodded. 'It is better to keep this power a secret and secretly train. In that way I will have a trump card to save myself,' she thought.
And minutes later, her father expressed her same concern.
Her father kept prancing in front of her and she sat down with her hands on her chin.
"Maybe we can… no, that won't work. Maybe we can..." her father kept mumbling.
"Dad, it's okay. Make a decision," She said.
"No, it's related to your safety I need to choose correctly," Her father said with a serious look.
"okay dad," she said and leaned against the hand rest of the couch. It was very fluffy and soft. All that crying and sobbing earlier tired her out. So soon she fell asleep.
Her father lifted her up gently and laid her down properly on the couch. He brought out a blanket and covered her up.
"My little Eru, I will make sure you will be always safe. Sleep tight," he softly kissed her forehead and left the room.
He dashed over to his wife's room. She was presently sitting next to her table with a lot of scrolls and paperwork as well. The recent attack on the kingdom had brought a lot of losses. And winter was coming, so his wife was in charge of stocking and food.
"Rukle, I don't want dinner. I'm busy, darling," his wife Kaye said without looking up.
He walked behind her and hugged her shoulders. "I have decided to send Eru away for a while," he whispered.
"WHAT!" she shouted and shot up from her seat.
She glared at him and clenched her fist as if she was ready to punch him.
"Listen…. Listen, honey…. Please listen to my explanation before you hit me," he begged with a smirk.
His wife always had the tendency to hit his shoulders when she was angry. And his poor shoulder has been through a lot in these years.
"You better explain." She said with a murderous expression. She raised her clenched fist towards his shoulders.
"Eru can use soul power. I plan to send him to Lumian for training," he said quickly.
"What? Eru can use soul power? That's good news," she said with a small smile. "But I still won't allow you to send my son away," she rejected firmly.
Rukle held his wife's shoulders and softly massaged them. "But honey, I only trust Lumian with this info. Others might expose our son's secrets," he said with a sigh.
"Then call Lumian over here. I can't risk my son going into the dark forest," she said with a hump.
Rukle sighed again. After the Great War many years ago, his sworn brother, Lumian sustained a grave injury. And it was not treated in time to so ended up being disabled. Lumian is presently residing in the dark forests of Miriafa. It's the part of the forest with a lot of spiritual beasts and spiritual plants.
"But he won't come here," Rukle said.
"I won't allow you to send Eru to the dark forests. This is the end of our discussion." Kaye said.
