Kori, Kaldur, and Raven kept their distance from the house that appeared a few meters ahead.
Raven and Kaldur forced Kori to keep her distance since she was excited to explore the unknown.
"Just you guys?"
Dio asked them.
A house appearing out of nowhere in front of the Tower should grab the attention of the whole team.
"The others kind of got tired of magic for today."
Kaldur explained.
"What do you guys think of it?"
Dio asked and stopped beside them.
"It's beautiful!"
Kori said.
"I've never seen a living object like this before."
Raven said.
"I can sense a strong mystical force in it, something old and mysterious."
Kaldur said.
Dio agreed with all of them, and he was also a little surprised by the change in the house.
The house in front of the Tower had the same design as when he saw it in the Dreaming. It had two floors made of wood and a small tower measuring ten meters high.
The difference was that now the house looked new.
The wood got a fresh coat of white paint, all the holes were fixed, the blue tiles shone like the sky, and the area around the windows was painted black.
The house's aura also changed from something scary to something more welcoming.
"Can I come in?"
Kori asked while giving him her puppy eyes.
"Not now, Kori. Let me go in first and see how things are."
Dio was sure he was the only person the house couldn't harm since he had its key, so he should look inside before accepting visitors.
"Then go ahead. I really want to meet a living house."
"We'll keep an eye out here, my friend. If you take too long, we'll come looking for you."
Kaldur said quietly.
Ravena also nodded at him.
"Twenty minutes then."
Dio told them.
He walked towards the house, changing out of his casual clothes and into armor with the golem.
Now ready, Dio stepped onto its wooden balcony and approached the red front door.
"Click!"
The door swung open on its own and allowed him to see inside for the first time.
The inside of the house was quite old-fashioned.
There was a red carpet with some wooden furniture, an already-lit fireplace in the back, oil paintings of landscapes all over the walls, and even some taxidermied animal heads here and there.
There was also a ladder at the back that led to the first floor.
"A bit old-fashioned for my taste, but that's okay."
Dio said it aloud.
"BANG!"
The door slammed shut violently and caught him by surprise.
Dio stared at it without understanding what had happened.
"You offended her!"
Raven explained from behind him.
Dio guessed her power to sense emotions worked even in the house.
Now, Dio was in a ridiculous situation where his house was offended by what he said about it.
"I'm sorry?!"
Dio apologized to a door.
"Click!"
It opened again, and inside the house changed even better.
First, the wooden floor was turned into smooth white stone, and all the old furniture was removed.
This left a big empty space with a circle-shaped hole in the floor in the middle of the room.
There was a lit stone fireplace in the middle, and a bench made of the same white stone as the floor wrapped around it.
There were now Greek statues of well-known women and men instead of paintings and animals on the walls.
There were also pots with plants adorning them next to the statues.
It was open, spacious, and welcoming.
"I love it."
This time the door didn't close.
Dio looked back at them and said, "I'm going in, guys."
He saw a few more features in the house's design as he stepped inside.
One thing that was on the left wall was a red Roman standard with a gold bident in the middle, which is a symbol of Hades.
There were also empty vases and urns scattered near the walls, each with a different painting.
Dio recognized some of them as part of Greek history and mythology, such as the battle between Achilles and Hector of Troy or some of Hercules' labors.
Julia would kill to have a house like this or just to see it up close.
Dio couldn't say if these things were real artifacts or just constructed by magic.
He walked around the entire ground floor of the room while looking at each piece of art and seeing every detail.
The Titans could see him since the door was left open, and they weren't worried about the delay.
When he saw everything he needed to see, he signaled to them and climbed the white marble stairs to the first floor.
Dui left the stairs and stood in front of a small apartment.
There was a change in the house.
The first floor returned to being made of wood, and the lighting came from two crystal chandeliers that were set apart from the ceiling.
The entrance was suitable for entertaining guests and spending time near the fireplace, which he really liked to do.
A taste he acquired after spending so many nights in the Underworld.
That first-floor apartment looked a lot like the Tower's common room, with two big sofas on the left facing the TV.
On the right was a small kitchen equipped with an old stove and a cupboard that must also be empty.
Dio went to the windows while passing by the table and waved to them on the ground to let them know he was okay.
Then he walked to the left to a small door hidden behind the kitchen wall.
There was a small laundry room with just a sink, and behind the other door in the laundry room was the bathroom inside.
It was a perfect small apartment to live in.
Therefore, upstairs should have a bedroom and a second bathroom.
He climbed the stairs and arrived at the floor. This turned out to be a small empty space with a closed double wooden door three meters high.
The doors were carved with the bident symbol in the middle.
Dio walked up to one of them and pushed the left door slowly. However, he opened it completely as soon as the view of the well-lit room ahead appeared.
It was a library.
This entire floor is a library built in an oval shape, with four-meter-high and two-meter-wide bookshelves against the walls.
There was a big table in the middle that could fit four people.
There was a beautiful armchair that would be a better place to read right under a window to the left.
Dio hurried to the left wall, where the first shelf on this side begins, and scanned the books.
He quickly moved to the left wall, where the first shelf on this side started, and looked through the book.
Dio hoped they were helpful for him because a library full of textbooks and recipes would be pointless.
The books had the same thick black covering, the only difference being that the titles were written vertically in golden letters.
"Basic Theory of Magic, by *******!"
Dio had read this book, and it was one of those required readings that Zatanna made him read when he started learning from her.
This first bookshelf was full of basics.
For example, there was a basic book on necromancy that he had never seen before, not even in Zatanna's house library.
It was amazing.
Dio didn't know where the House got these basic books, but many of them he had never heard of, and this was just the first bookshelf.
He spent about ten minutes looking at the books slowly until he remembered he had friends waiting outside.
Dio didn't have much time to stay there, and he still needed to look at other things in the house.
