The Legend of Shiney and Nighty - night

"...then Nighty - night agreed to appear before only the most stubborn kids and that was how the argument was settled and each got her own time... and kids", Trisha's mom ended.

"Mom, why can't Nighty - night take the obedient kids, why does she get to take stubborn ones?", Trisha asked and stared at her mother intently awaiting a response.

"It's because...I'll tell you tomorrow, go to sleep now"

"Aww...okay, goodnight mommy", Trisha whispered.

"Nighty - night darling", her mom said and almost immediately, she switched off the light.

"Aaah!", Trisha yelled.

"What's wrong?", her mother said softly and switched on the light .

"Mom, what if Nighty - night mistakes me for Douglas since we're neighbors and takes me away...", Trisha said and frowned.

"Oh Trisha, Nighty - night cannot mistake you for that naughty boy, okay? She knows you're the sweetest girl ever so don't worry about her and go to sleep",her mom said and chuckled.

"...okay", Trisha accepted reluctantly.

Her mother sat beside her and sang her a lullaby till she slowly drifted away in sleep. Her mother kissed her forehead and switched off the light then left her room.

About three hours later, at exactly 12:00 a.m.

A bright purple light reflected on Trisha's face and being a light sleeper, Trisha immediately woke up.

"Uh?...what's this?", she said and rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't in a trance.

"I am the spirit of the dark, mysterious and powerful. There are so many legends about me, some which are partly true but no one really knows the true legend of Nighty - Night. I am Nighty - Night!", the voice whispered softly.

"Ah!", Trisha screamed.

"Shh...you mustn't awake your kind for they will not see me even if they wanted to so relax and listen to me", The purple light dimmed and revealed a very beautiful lady with dark hair and blue eyes, she had dark skin and looked like a goddess. She was wearing a dark purple silk gown and she looked like a princess although she looked old enough to be a queen.

Trisha couldn't help but gasp in awe and admire her beauty. She had never thought she would get to see Nighty - Night when she was just 7 years old, she thought that she would have to be at least 10 years old when she was old enough to defend her actions like her mother would say.

Snapping out of her dazed state, she blinked and said, "What do you want from her?", her eyes became golden in colour.

"Oh, Shiney why can't you let me have some fun? Besides, she's thrilled to see me. I can feel it, her heartbeat is so strong and happy...", Nighty - Night rambled on.

Trisha looked bored and yawned.

"*Yawn* Boring... Just skedaddle, will ya? Go to the house next door there's someone that really deserves to meet you there", Shiney said with a sarcastic tone.

Nighty-night's eyes glowed dark purple and her face looked very angry. She no longer looked like a princess, she looked like a queen that was made angry by one of her subjects and she was about to behead the fellow.

"That's it! I have had it! I am prepared to become even a mouse as long as I get to blast you to bits! Ah!", Nighty-night yelled angrily and raised her hands to blast Shiney to bits when a portal appeared in Trisha's ceiling-to-floor mirror.

A voice yelled from inside the portal.

"Get in! Now! I'm gonna teach you both a lesson you'll never forget". A lady that looked like both Shiney and Nighty-Night combined came out of the portal looking angry and regal.

Shiney and Nighty-Night looked at each other and chorused, 'Uh-oh'.

Judging from her look, she was a queen, no doubt. One would have thought she would be fragile and frail but, no!

She floated towards Shiney and Nighty-Night and didn't stop till she was in front of them. In a flash, they had both changed into two small girls, one with golden hair and the other with dark hair, they looked extremely cute.

"Hey momma", they chorused and gave their best innocent looks.

"Aww...you both look so...in trouble! That won't work with me. Get in the portal!", she yelled and pointed to the portal with one of her hands on her hip.

"Silly girls! You're both grounded yet you snuck out of the castle. How did you manage to do that?! This time I'll give you both punishments that you will never forget, especially you, Sunshine.", the lady yelled as they got into the portal.

"Come on, mom...I always get the hard punishments, let Nighty-Night have some of 'em too", Shiney whined.

"You're the stubborn one, Sunshine and you know it! Moonshine is as peaceful as the moon itself but you...you're just like the sun. Always energetic, radiant, and stubborn!", the lady said and entered into a golden-silver car. She shut the door and stretched out two bracelets to the two girls through the window.

"Wear your bracelets and don't take them off!, you'll be hiking home today", she said and smirked.

"What?!", the girls chorused but were covered in Silver and Golden dust that erupted from the car's rear end.

"Mum is so impossible! How does she expect us to hike up the Silden Hill?!", Shiney(Sunshine) whined.

"Who cares about you? I can do this myself", Nighty-Night(Moonshine) declared.

"Oh really...y'know acting is your talent, you do it so well that mom believes you're like the moon. 'Oh, Moonshine is like the moon itself, so peaceful and calm'. Hmph! I'll show her! I can be 'peaceful' too!", Shiney yelled, fuming.

"Eat my pretentious dust, baby girl!", Nighty-night yelled as she blasted away on Shiney's rocket boots.

"See ya, sucka!", Nighty-night yelled mockingly.

Shiney's face was flushed with anger. It was literally red.

"Aargh! You lying thief! You stole my boots! I'll get you for that, I promise!", Shiney screamed.

She ran in the opposite direction and veered into the woods, then disappeared.

In the sky...

"Who's the actress? I am! I tricked my mom and my sister. I stole her boots and now I am...halfway up the Silden Hill! She's probably down there wallowing in self pity...I don't care 'cause I don't wanna!", Nighty-night sang without rhythm.

She hummed a lively tune as she got higher in the air. She rose higher and higher until...Shiney's boots ran out of sun dust. It huffed and puffed till it stopped abruptly and sent Nighty-night plummeting down. She dropped down speedily, thanks to gravity.

"Ugh", Nighty-night said and rolled her eyes as she supported her chin with her hands and closed her eyes as if she was meditating.

Suddenly, she flipped in the air and landed on her feet. She flicked a piece of invisible lint of her right shoulder, then smirked and raised a foot to walk but she stepped on a well concealed net and got swooped up.

"Seriously?! I managed to do a smooth landing just to get trapped in a stupid net?! This ain't ordinary...I sense dumbness here 'cause whoever did this should know that I've got a saber-toothed tiger's tooth right here, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it to...cut you into pieces and feed you to my saber-toothed tiger named Felix...so just come right out and cut me loose and I'll be on my way and pretend this never happened", Nighty-night concluded her threat.
