Chapter Two

Darcy Lewis worked hard to gain her position working for SHIELD. She had to prove her worth, as she wasn't granted special abilities or hired to become an agent. It came down to her alliance with a member of the Avengers that she was granted her position and her doctorate in astrophysics, which followed after her interest in working in a team that dedicated their brains to that science division. The woman was thankful her previous encounter with Nick Fury hadn't hindered her acceptance into the company. Anything regarded strange to do with the atmosphere, Darcy had to investigate the cause.

Darcy was already well aware of subjects regarding Thor, by the time Loki had arrived back on Earth to take control over the planet, she knew much about him. Since Darcy wasn't working in the department with the Avengers she wasn't able to converse with her friend Thor. All she knew as an inside agent was that Thor was brought in to help defeat his brother before too much chaos ould unfold.

Darcy wasn't able to deliver a message to him his girlfriend Jane. She was currently overseas overseeing data that would help towards her research, although she would be pissed to know her boyfriend was back on Earth without informing her. However, life contained on for normal for Jane, she knew that Loki would be captured before things got out of control.

Darcy was able to come home from the office at night and enjoy the comfort of herself in front of the television in her PJs. Although that plan changed as soon as she notices Loki step around from her kitchen holding the stolen sceptre. "Hello, Darcy Lewis." The god greets the mortal Thor had informed him on. Her blue eyes meet Loki's own.

Darcy wasn't quick enough to get her taser out before it is melted by the sceptre. "Nice try Darcy." Loki comments, amused by the woman's action. She was a mere mortal going against a god and her weapon of choice was a taser. SHIELD agents weren't able to overtake the god with their machine guns, so Darcy stood no choice. Thor's recount about the mortal was proven true, that she did tase the man. "You may be able to overcome a fool like Thor, however, I'm not as dim as my brother."

"What do you want?" Darcy asks, trying not to let fear get ahold of herself. Although there was a part of herself that found Loki handsome, the glamour of being a god. "Jane's not here if you're looking for bait for Thor."

Loki lets out a mocking laugh. "No, you are more valuable than the mortal my dear brother is foolish enough to love," Loki explains.

Darcy is confused by that comment. She wasn't valuable like Jane, there were more feelings from Thor regarding her best friend than herself. "So are you hoping to hypnotise me to do your bidding?" Darcy asks for clarification. Loki did have chosen mortals outside of Darcy's apartment keeping an eye on the situation. They were instructed to divert the Avengers away from the location so Loki could put his plan into motion without any interruption.

"Thor was right, you are smart." Loki muses, a dark smile present on his pale face.

Darcy seemed thrilled that she was getting a compliment on her intelligence. Most people gave comments toward Jane rather than herself. "Smart enough not to trust you Mr Laufeyson." She defends herself.

Loki lets out a laugh, before picking up a book that sat on her dining table in her small apartment. "You seem to have an affliction for bad boys." Loki comments, amused as Darcy stands there blushing, embarrassed that Loki had found that book. It told the cliche story of the girl next door, falling in love with the bad boy. A favourite trait for Darcy, perhaps she followed in the footsteps of her own mother. Her mother had foolishly trusted a man like Tony Stark to be more than just another one nightstand. Stark was a real heartbreaker. "So I feel our alliance will be smoother than yours with Thor."

Darcy crosses her arms against her chest, Loki was impressed not many mortals had the confidence to stand up against him. Although it usually involved their murder, there was something different with this mortal. "What do you really want Loki?"

"A backup plan," Loki states plainly.
