"Why did you kill them?" I asked.
"Because of what they did to you."
"They didn't hurt me."
"They disrespected you and as the Queen that is treason."
"I told you to give me names earlier," he said. "I was still going to kill even without them."
I felt a sense of déjà vu. Same thing had happened two years ago.
"The place is quiet today," I said. "There is no trace of vampires. No war."
"For now."
"For now," I agreed. "Lucian remains asleep. The witch told us that his life is tied to that of a voodoo doll, and unless that spell is lifted, he will remain unconscious."
Tristan's jaw clenched. I caught sight of a flicker of red flashing past his eyes. I felt his rage through the bond.
"Tristan," I said. His eyes turned red again, and it darkened this time.
"I'm fine," he said, taking a deep breath as he squeezed his eyes shut.
I raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
