Something fun

STAR Labs, Metropolis

After the explosion, Superman soon arrived having heard the sound. " Are you okay?What happened here?" He questioned Silas Stone.

" I'm alright but..... My son, Victor, you must help him. He was in the explosion." Silas told Superman, visibly unnerved. "Don't worry sir, I'll go look for him." Superman replies and heads towards the epicentre of the explosion. As he walks through the flaming ground of the laboratory, he finds no clue of Victor Stone.

However he soon finds a strange metallic cocoon-like structure at the epicentre of the explosion. He uses his x-ray vision to look inside and find an unconscious Victor. "Good lord, he's still breathing, but half his body is gone!" exclaimes superman, shocked at this outcome. Knowing that being hasty could kill the young man he lifts up the entire metallic structure and takes it to the father, Silas Stone.

"Sir I have found your son and he's still alive, but unfortunately he is severely injured and trapped inside this cocoon. I'm sorry." he says, trying to comfort Silas.

"NO! Victor I'm sorry. Oh no, if only i hadn't found that accursed box then maybe you wouldn't be this way." Silas suddenly breaks down in tears. "I promise I'll heal you. I'll find a way to fix you up. Just wait for me" he promises his son. Superman watches the scene silently from the side when suddenly his communicator bleeps.

"This is Batman. Superman, I need your assistance. Meet me at the Hall of Justice" a voice calls out. As it seems urgent, Superman doesn't bother replying and directly flies to his destination.

Hall of Justice.

As he reaches the Hall of Justice, outside the gates he finds a large crowd gathered, with flyers and banners in their hands, reading "We don't need the justice league", "destroyers not protectors" and "The real villains" etc. In the past few years, although the justice league had helped humanity and saved a lot of people, even taking down terrorists and rogue nations, they had also had their fair share of failures. Like the Gorilla Grodd incident where the league had caused roughly $100,000,000 in damages in 2 days or their conflict with the Injustice League, which had destroyed much of the infrastructure across many cities. Not to mention some of the methods employed by members like Batman, which border on war crimes and the racism of Atlantians towards humans.

All of this led to major outcry against the Justice league and its members who continued to face increasing scrutiny. But nevertheless the Justice league continued its operations. But the damage had been done and the Justice league, which once was close to becoming a U.N. backed organisation, was now heavily criticised for its mediocrity and even asked to be shut down.

Superman entered the building and quickly headed to Batman's location. He then found Batman studying a strange cuboidal box. "Superman, I need to access the fortress of solitude" Batman stated, as if it was no big deal. " Really Bruce? No 'how's it going best friend, can you do me a favour?', at least say please." joked Superman. "Why do you need access anyway?" he asked.

"That box you see over there is a computer. There is no computer on this planet that can break into it since the technology in our world isn't advanced enough. So I thought I'd use kryptonian technology instead." Batman explained.

"Ok, I can agree with that. How about 2 days from now?" Superman gives Batman a date and flies off.

[Arnold POV]

'I wonder which event is happening first? If I look at the system's missions, it seems Darkseid is going to invade soon.' I thought as he drove home in his car. I had just come from a recording session for my next album and wanted nothing more than some dinner.

I had already ordered a pepperoni pizza to my home and couldn't wait to dive in. As I was driving however, a black sedan suddenly overtook me and I heard sirens blaring behind me. 'It seems I have been caught up in a heist.' I thought as I continued driving. 'Well Superman will probably take care of this in 5 seconds anyways. Not like these bugs can touch me.' I was unafraid and continued driving.

One of the perks of living in Metropolis is the safety after all. But when the chase continued for a solid minutes next to me, I decided to help out so I wouldn't be annoyed by the damned sirens anymore. Well I concentrate my cursed energy and use «slash» to puncture all of the car's tires. I then drive away as the police catch up to the robbers and move in to apprehend them.

Little did I know that this incident would become my biggest mistake since coming to this new world. But that's a story for another time.

Anyways, I get inside my house and get the pizza in my stomach and turn on the television. I turn to check the news and see that Wonder Woman was meeting with the President. 'Boring' I think and change channels. I see that STAR Labs had an incident where a gas leak led to a minor explosion. 'No way that was a gas leak.' I thought, seeing through the obvious cover up. 'Only crazy shit happens at that place. Probably a failed clone of Superman or something went berserk.'

I change channels a couple times to see if anything interesting is going on, but I find nothing. I switch off the TV and head to sleep. ' I hope something fun happens tomorrow.' I think as I close my eyes and doze off.

It turns out something 'fun' did happen the next day, and I would find out the hard way.

A/N: This Victor kid seems doomed. No way he's gonna survive right? Anyways, the invasion will probably start in a chapter or so.
