Chapter 4

We were on our way to Ramshorn, which was the closest town to us. It was notorious for its inns and the quality of the blacksmiths. It was a decent place, but the reason we were going there was that Alexis had a friend who could help her found out why we were attacked.

On the way there we encountered a man walking opposite of the way we were heading. "Hello," he said. We said hi back. A small piece of paper dropped out of his pocket. I went to go pick it up and give it to him but he was nowhere to be found.

"Weird," I said. I looked at the paper and it said. Ben Tackle, Bard unlike any other. If you wish for me to sing a song for you, see me at The Broken Shield, located in Winterveil. I stuffed it in my pocket and we continued walking towards Ramshorn.

We arrived there during the night. People were lurking in the shadows, there were sounds of fighting in some alleyways, most likely a drunken brawl. Someone came out of the shadows, He was wearing ragged clothes. moonlight shines off the dagger he had in his hand. "Give me your money, or bleed." He said, with a crooked smile.

Two more figures appeared behind him. Both wearing cloaks, and welding short swords. Jace put his hand on his axe, The man's looked at Jace's hand and lunged at him.

Jace dodged the lunge and kicked the man in the stomach when he was on the ground. The two figures came at us. The first one swung at Alexis, missed and in turn, got zapped with sparks of lightning. The second one came stabbed at me but was countered almost instantly. His sword went flying out of his hands. "Please don't hurt me," he said.

Alexis lifted her staff and a purple mist wrapped around him as if it were a tentacle. He was clearly woozy, almost intoxicated. He fell down and didn't get back up. "What did you do?" I asked, "I knocked him out with oneirogenic general anesthetic," she said. "Can you put that in terms I can understand?"

"A type of sleeping gas," she said, obviously annoyed that I didn't know what oneirogo or whatever the hell it was called was. "Huh, I thought you could only use lighting magic," "Of course I can do more magic than just lighting. Do you even understand how wizards work?"

"Listen I've never seen magic until, what 4, 5 days ago?" I said. "Hey Alexis, who's the person we're supposed to meet?" said Jace. Oh, yea she never even told us who we were meeting. "You'll know soon enough."

"Can you at least tell us how much farther it is?" "Glamos, you're like a 4-year-old child," she said.

"Oh, you did not just call me a 4-year-old." I rolled up the sleeves on my tunic. "We're here!" she exclaimed. "Yeah, we're right here ya know you don't have to yell in my ear," I said rubbing my ear. I looked at the sign hanging overhead, Halo Brewing it said.

A woman came out, she was much taller compared to us, she had blonde hair, pale skin, and a white dress. "Oh Alexis, I didn't know you were coming, you should've at least sent me a letter." "

You know I don't have enough money for that." "You have enough money to buy silver tools and cut me open…" I mumbled, she hit my arm, for someone of her statue she can hit surprisingly hard. "Glamos, this is Alice, Alice this is Glamos."

"Hi glamos," Alice said, I said hi back. "Why is you're alchemy shop is called halo brewing?" I asked.

"Well Because I'm an angel." She said, "An angel?" I repeat, not really sure if I heard what I heard. "Hey, Alexis is he deaf or something?" Alice asks.

"I don't think so, but he sure is stupid." She responds. "I'm right here you know…" Alice looks back at me. "I'm. An. Angel."

"A real angel?" I say dumbfounded. I look at Alexis, she opens her mouth. Here comes the insult "Glamos she is an actual angel, it's surprising right?" "No kidding," I say, I'm also surprised Alexis didn't insult me for once. Almost as surprising as Alice being an angel.

"Cool right?" Alice says. "Well, Angels are supposed to be in heaven right? So why are you here?" I ask. "Guys get in here," Jace says from the window. "It's cold outside, how have you guys not frozen!" Wait it's cold out here? I look at Alexis, but she's not there. I look back at the window Alexis is standing next to Jace.

"Seriously?" I say to them. I look at Alice. She's already heading for the door. "It's not that cold outside!" I say to them. "Get inside already!" they yell at me. I sigh. Alice holds the door for me, I get inside and I smell something sweet. My stomach starts to rumble. I haven't eaten in a long while.

I try to find out where this delicious smell is coming from, and I spot it. Apple pie, my mouth starts to water as I see it. Alexis spots me heading to the pie. "Glamos, Sit down." "But I'm hungry," I say. "It looks like apple pie but it really isn't. It's actually a block of wood. I carved it to look like pie and I added some pie scent to it." Alice says.

"I-It's not actually pie?" I say. "Nope." I can almost feel a tear welling up in my eye. I look at the fake pie, my stomach grumbles again. Alice goes into what looks like a kitchen and brings out a fruit basket. "This isn't wood right?" Jace asks.

"Nope, dig in," Alice says. Jace lunges over the table and gets an apple. I take a banana and a pear out. Alexis grabs an orange. A few minutes later all of the fruit is gone, and I'm still kinda hungry. "So Alexis why did you visit me?" Alice asks. "I need help with something, something important."

Alexis says. "Well, what is it?" Alice asks. "Glamos is an elemental, well part of an elemental. His soul has been infused with the elemental… Glamos."

"So wait. Glamos has an elemental fused with him and the elemental's name is, Glamos? That sounds kinda dumb. I mean was he infused with the elemental when he was a baby and people called him Glamos or, was his name Glamos then he got infused with Glamos the elemental?" "I don't know ok, maybe he was named after the elemental or something, but I need help with him."

"What exactly do you need me to do?" Alice asks "I need to know where the ingredients are for staging his elementals." says Alexis. "Well, how many elementals does he have?" "around 6, but I only know of 2. Air and Fire."

"The fire crystal for staging his elemental should be in The Dragon's land. The air topaz would maybe be in Nomi Isle." "Oh crap, both of them are pretty far away. Alice, can you see if you can find out his other elemental powers? I don't wanna go to either of the places you just mentioned."

"The only way to find out is by having someone use an element bend spell, but you know how rare those people are to come by." "C'mon you must have a contact or something." I looked outside the window because I was bored with their blabbering.

I spotted a group of people hidden under cloaks heading towards us. In unison, they all pulled daggers, and staff out. "Uh, guys… Pretty sure they aren't friendly." I said whilst pointing at the group of people approaching the shop. "Wait here, I'll go see what's going on," Alice said as she moved towards the door. I saw a member of the group head towards Alice, hiding his dagger behind his back.

As soon as I realized it, my face went pale. I ran outside. "ALICE WAIT!" I yelled but it was already too late, a flash of silver and a spray of red is what I soon saw. The leader smirked, he looked at me and said. "It's your turn," He took off his hood, it was a man I didn't recognize, he had stubble gray-white hair and muscles the size of mountains."Get 'em." he said.

It's all my fault I thought It's, my fault Alice is dead and it's my fault my mentor is dead. Dark thoughts began running through my head, my blood boiled. "I WILL KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU!" I had that feeling, the feeling I got when my mentor died. The feeling of rage, and now I wasn't mad, I wasn't angry, I had full unbridled rage.

This wasn't normal, none of it was. Last time I had these flames covering me they were an orange, yellow, but now they're…Black. My mind was clear, but yet also full of rage. I didn't have much time to think about why I felt so Different, The first person was already lunging at me. I lifted my fingers, "Burn." Immediately the person who was only about 2 feet away from me got consumed by the Black flames.

They screamed and screamed. If I hadn't been in this form those screams would've haunted me for the rest of my life, but now I could care less. All these sick bastards deserved to die. The grey-bearded man smirked. "Oh, how amusing, you're a special one." "But, I sadly have no time to waste with you, we have a city to destroy." He said with a smile.

"Burn," I said. He got engulfed in flames, yet he acted as if he was fine even though he was burning. He swiped his fingers, the fire vanished, and I was launched through the air. I broke through the wall of Halo Brewing. Alexis and Jace looked dumbfounded, "A little help here?" I asked as I spat up some blood. "Glamos, we can't fight these guys, they are all mages which should be impossible there shouldn't be this much mages in this continent, much less in this one spot. Also, there seems to be something connecting them all to him, some kind of mind control spell I think."

"Alexis we have to fight them, they will destroy this town and all in it." I said as I stood up. I ran through the hole I made. Huh, you've already unlocked a combo, good job. I didn't think a mortal could progress this much. "Huh?" I said out loud, but I didn't have much time to think. That one moment I got distracted gave that grey-haired man enough time to conjure up some sort of spell. "My name is Ragnar, the reason I tell you this is because if you manage to survive this, which I do highly doubt, I want you to know who did all this."

A beam of light shot out of his hand and headed towards me. I was frozen. The beam shot straight through me, I gasped for air. My rage faded, and so did every other thing I felt. I coughed up blood, then collapsed onto the ground.
