ALEX
Great.
At least now we can get this out in the open - the second life-altering thing tonight and by far, the less enjoyable one. I bring my phone to my ear, trying to figure out how to tell my fiancé that the wedding is off.
"Is it true?"
She gets the words out before I say hello. I can't take the lead on this because she already knows. Through some mean or channel on Facebook or wherever, she's probably seen a picture of Autumn and me. There's no denying it. And I don't want to.
"I'm sorry, Anya."
"You're kidding me. You're fucking kidding me, Alex!" She screams so loud I think they might hear it in the other room. Pulling the phone away, I listen with an inch between us. "You've been lying to me this whole time! When I asked if you were cheating - "
"I wasn't cheating. I never cheated on you."
A pause.
"Up until...yesterday."
"You cheating fucking bastard."
